A few snaps taken in Seoul on a film called 500T, bought at Gorae Studio in Chungmuro. Pretty happy with the results :)
Honestly, was pretty surprised with the quality and consistency on this little pentax 17. I’ve been taking it everywhere as my EDC and have been loving photography again.
I’m new to film photography and have mostly shot on point and shoots, so this was my first time using zone focus and program settings on a camera. I think the framing on some of these didn’t exactly work out but am impressed with how punch the photos came out despite the gloomy weather.
Yeah I know car light trails are kinda an overused trope, but they felt like the right way to show the movement of this city at night & test out bulb mode on the Pentax 17. These were shot just by resting the camera on a walkway railing, no tripod and no cable release.
While shooting these, I realized how much the inclusion of a bulb mode changes this camera. Often just a footnote in a feature list, that tiny “B” on the dial turns this into a fully manual, pocketable point and shoot film camera. It’s rare to have full control in this form factor, and it elevates the Pentax 17’s capabilities beyond what many have given it credit for.
First attempt at film, my favorites of the 72 images. Yielded ~30 images that were not blurry, underexposed, or with the lens cap on 😅
This film surprised me again with lots of details and small grain even in half-frame format of Pentax 17!
I start loving this little camera even more!
Hi again,
still learning the P17, and as other users I'm having difficulties with Portra, I will need to push over exposure +1stop or so. Loving Fuji400.
Hope to get some feedback.
Cheers
I took these in May 2025 on Portra 400. I under exposed them because I was still learning how to use film and I was embarrassed to share them until now
So, I regularly forget to remove the cap of my P17. Last roll I missed 3/72 shots, including some highly anticipated ones of my two-year old.
Yes, the blue light does blinky-blinky, but I often think it’s the ‘It’s Portra 400 overexposed during daytime blinky-blinky’ instead of the ‘Get the darned cap off blinky-blinky’.
Enter the most hideous of hideous caps you can ever put on your rangefinder. Yes, I’m willing to let go of my ego and use the cap of shame to never miss a shot again. It’s so yellow, you won’t be able to miss it through the viewfinder.
working in a sign shop has its perks. Managed to cut a piece to cover the text on the lens and found a great match on colored vinyl to cover up the PENTAX.
I’m new to the Pentax 17 (and new to film in general). These are rolling in from my fourth roll. SOOC. Loving how sharp the images come out despite the half frame format :)
