Front Street

Anyone try Front Street since they moved to their new location? I've seen not so good reviews online so I'm not sure I want to try it or not. My partner and I loved their old location and I understand the vibe will be very different. Are they also under new management? Let me know your thoughts!

Vacation Budget Input

Hi all! My partner & I head off for Ptown in two weeks, and we're so excited! My family used to spend a week every summer on the Cape, and it's a tradition I'm looking forward to both sharing with my girlfriend, and reclaiming for personal reasons.

I know Provincetown gets expensive during the busy season, but the last time I went I was 16, so I'm not sure how much has changed with inflation. I was hoping I could get some input on if I should set aside more.

Right now I have $1000 saved up for spending money after covering gas, our rental car, and hotel room. We plan on spending four nights, and plan on bringing our own coffee, snacks, and breakfast items (cereal, milk, bagels, snacks) from home in case we sleep in past continental breakfast or have late night cravings LOL

For additional context, my girlfriend and I usually go 50/50 on most purchases (tickets, restaurant bills, groceries) so we'd be doing that during this trip as well obviously.

So, should I set aside more?

What’s the etiquette on women swimming in the cove behind Boy Beach Dunes? * context below*

I was at Boy Beach with 2 friends today (gay men) who are regulars to the (front) beach there. They brought 4 friends to the beach with them today - 3 females (including myself) and 1 male. After the tide came up, we wanted to swim in the cove behind the dunes. My friends encouraged it, as they said the water over there was awesome because it was warmer, calmer and don’t have to worry about sharks. They let us know we would see all sorts of ~ activity ~ behind the dunes, but to not worry about it because they (men partaking in activities) didn’t care if we were back there. Shortly after going back there, swimming and hanging with my friends in the water, a man came up to a member in my group (woman) and started the convo off with ‘What makes you think you can be back here, as a woman?’ followed by ‘we have fought for hundreds of years for our rights, this is our place, etc’. He was shaking and obvious telling us we shouldn’t be back there. We asked our gay men friends if they were sure it was alright that we were back there, and they told us it was fine and to ignore the guy, no one actually cares he must have just been on a power trip etc. Us woman were not sure after and uneasy, worried we were intruding. For context, 2 of the woman and all of the men in my group were nude and we weren’t just standing there gawking. We didn’t care about what was going on back there.

My friends mentioned the elders/locals of the community truly don’t care if woman are back there. Can someone confirm or deny this, and provide me with the social etiquette of Boys Beach Dunes?

* Edit, as this is coming up in the comments - the women in this situation were not lesbian*

Clothing Optional

Are there any places other than Boy Beach which are clothing optional (with a day pass or free), nudity preferred? I’d like to be nude communally with men, gay or straight, even pools or spas would be great.

Solo 42f POC

I plan to be in PTown week of 5th July for a solo trip. For context I am straight female woman of color in my 40s.
I want to meet people from different walks of life . I do this solo trip every year to a different place. Would Ptown be welcoming ? For conversations and new friendships. I am seeing posts that Ptown has become cliquey and this worries me.

Thank you so much you all

Why is this week so drug fueled ?

Went out Thursday and Friday night and the vibe is just very off. Is it because of the 4th? We moved to town last October so this is our first summer as year round residents.
This weekend has been really weird. Are other weekends similar to this ?

Well, I Snoozed...and Lost

Short version: I'll be up in Provincetown in a couple of weeks (driving up from vacation in RI), planning to see a show at the theater on Sunday afternoon, and figured it might be fun to come up Saturday and make a day of it on the last day of Bear Week. I found a reasonably-priced room, but didn't pull the trigger in time for reasons, and then it got snatched up. Lesson learned.

So, possible Plan B: Shockingly enough, hotels have rooms--and cheaper!--on Sunday nights. Who knew? So why not come up Sunday morning, see the show, make a day of it, then spend Sunday night instead? With that said, I know Sunday has to be slower than Friday or Saturday, and that's fine.* But is it "nice, quiet night" slow, or "only kid in the library the day before Christmas Break" slow?

*-I'm trying to get a bit less quiet and slow, but the first time I came to Provincetown and saw "Tea Dance," I got excited because I thought it might be something like "high tea," so that's where I've been as a baseline.

The Keyhole

Please help. I feel like I’m having a moron moment. I can’t figure out where The Keyhole has opened? Looks like a fantastic speakeasy. I follow them on social media. But where the hell are they?

Am I welcome at Bear Week clubs?

Heyyyyyy, I’m a non-binary AFAB person who is still pretty femme presenting. I am proud to participate in queer community events, and come to PTown all the time in the summer for some community fun. I bought tickets for a Bear Week themed dance party because I wanna dance and see Latrice Royale perform drag there! (And appreciate some handsome bears and otters….) I’m kinda worried I and my cis female best friend might not get a warm welcome at this event or feel like it isn’t a space for us (considering Bears are big burly men and PTown is still definitely a mostly cis gay male space)

Please let me know your honest opinions!

Boy Beach Boat

Hi there Ptown people - For my best friend’s birthday, I have a vision of hiring a boat to bring a small group (6-8) over to Boy Beach for a picnic and some frolicking and then bring us back a few hours later. Is that in the realm of possibility? If anyone has a lead on a skipper who might be game, please let me know. Thanks so much!

Affordable overnight stays?

Hi there my partner and I are going to P-town this month and we’re wondering if there are more affordable options for overnight stays. Lqbtq+ and nudist friendly accommodation would be a great option too!

Sources on Provincetown History from late 70s?

I'm currently writing an historical fiction set in 1979, and (after a magical, first-time trip to Provincetown last month) I've decided to add a chapter set in Provincetown.

I'm curious if there are any resources/sources worth checking out, which go into and show what Provincetown, MA was like in 1979.

So far, as I'm early in researching this, I've only been able to fond one silent, Super8 video of a parade, and mentions that Anthony Bourdain got his start in Ptown.

Thanks!
