Postcard left in my bike

Postcard left in my bike

Ok, a postcard was left on my bike for an event. Picture is one of a business establishment with the same flyers posted. That event had a word in it that I was admonished for using in a description of myself. (And my response was deleted because, again, use of the “bad” word). I may be old but I’m confused here. I’m not allowed to type the word, or use it for myself- but events and businesses can use it publicly?

Quick Getaway/Luxe Lodging Ideas

Hi all. It’s been a summer of untangling emotions after losing my mom, working on my historic hot mess of a home in New Bedford and caring for my senior pup with CHF. I’d love a night or two in town, sitting on a deck, soaking up the fun people watching, walk to coffee and dog beach. Any ideas for luxe lodging(clean, restful, great linens!) pet-friendly this weekend? know it’s nearly impossible during high tourist season. Thank you for any ideas. 💜

baby/stroller-friendly lunch recs?

Headed to ptown (for the first time!) with my husband and our ninth month old this Thurs. Would love some recommendations for a lunch spot (preferably with outdoor seating!) that would be baby/stroller-friendly. Any other recommendations for places to go or things to see with a baby that age would be most welcome!

The Seal, Harwich

I was jumped by a group of three men who shouted homophobic slurs at me near their pickup truck outside of The Seal pub in Harwich. Message me if you witnessed the incident or if you have any information.

Lesbians/sapphics in ptown

Hello! Wanted to see if anyone had any reccs for a group of sapphic women/non-binaries who are staying in ptown 8/24-8/26.

I have been before and while I know all the bars are pretty universally welcoming, and we plan to see some drag shows already, figured this sub might have some reccs I didn’t know about. I think we will be missing the Girl Splash events and themed weeks, but anything else people would suggest?

Mass transit to P’town in October

Planning a trip from NJ to P’town for Women’s Week.
We normally drive, but it’s just too long of a trip, so we’re looking at Train, Plane, Ferry or combo.

Does the ferry run in October?
Any suggestions?

Unspeakable Joy Friday

Inviting you all to close Carnival Week with me Friday night at the Red Room with Unspeakable Joy. Unspeakable Joy is my signature house music classics party that I tour around the country. 2026 will be the 14th year in a row I've had the pleasure of DJ'ing in Ptown during Carnival Week , but the first that I am throwing my own event. Already over 200 tickets have been sold, so get yours now (REDROOM.club) and I'll see you all on the dancefloor for a night of timeless anthems from the golden era of 90's and 00's house music

Carnival question

Does anyone know which week of August Carnival tends to be? Is it usually e.g. the third to the fourth Saturday? I’m looking ahead to 2027 already and trying to plan an annual trip to be the week before Carnival, and I’m wondering if it’ll be August 14-21 or 21-28 (August 1, 2027, falls on a Sunday). Thanks for the help!

Carnival

Hello :) I’m on the cape for carnival and I want to party at clubs but I don’t have enough money to be going event from event the same night. I was wondering what ones are usually busy with decent music. I was looking at the Kim Petra’s for Friday? Also is it worth it to stay after the parade Thursday and go dancing?? Please help not into very old and boring crowds :) Thank You

Boycott Box Lunch: Mistreatment of J1 Workers

Seen on Provincetown Community Space Facebook:

BOX LUNCH CLOSED FOR TWO DAYS AFTER 12–15 INTERNATIONAL J-1 WORKERS STOOD TOGETHER, ACCUSING THE OWNERS OF REPEATED MISTREATMENT.

As a business owner in town, I saw the message shared in our local business chat naming these students and portraying them as problematic. After learning more about what actually led to this situation, I couldn't remain silent.

Before other local businesses judge them, refuse to hire them, or automatically take the employer's side, they deserve to have their side of the story heard.

This is about a group of international students who finally stood together after weeks of asking for what most workers would consider basic things: a schedule, their paychecks, transparent tips, and respectful treatment at work.

According to the students, the same problems have been raised repeatedly since the beginning of the season:

• all paychecks delayed for weeks. Some say they have waited 4–5 weeks to receive money they already worked for.

• No reliable schedule. Every night they are contacted around 11 PM if have to be at work the following morning.

• Being asked to pay rent while still waiting for their wages.

• Serious concerns about how tips are calculated and distributed. The students want transparency about the tips they have earned.

• Being screamed at and treated disrespectfully. Some students say the pressure and treatment at work has made them cry.

Eventually, approximately 12–15 students decided together not to report to work and asked for a meeting with the owners to resolve these issues. Their goal was not simply to abandon their jobs. They wanted everyone to sit down, discuss the problems, and find a solution.

Instead, the situation escalated. The students say blame was placed on them and one or two workers were fired — something the remaining students perceived as an attempt to pressure the rest of the group into returning to work.

As a result of so many workers standing together, Box Lunch was closed for two days.

So, to the Provincetown business community: please don't blacklist these students or make a judgment based on one side of the story or a list of names shared privately. Talk to them. Hear what happened from them.

And if your business needs seasonal workers right now, some of these J-1 students may be looking for additional or alternative employment. Give them a chance.

Mermaid party at A house question

Hi ~ I’m female and here with my male partner. We are both bi. I love love love tea dance at the Boat slip and always go a couple of times when I come to Ptown (not my partner’s scene - too loud and he isn’t as into dancing as I am) ~ it always feels like a big gay bar mitzvah. (I brought my GF a couple of times and she had fun despite herself - she is self conscious dancing).

Even during “women’s” weeks or events, PTown skews heavily male. I love the friendly guys (hello 🧸) but being around the ones who aren’t doesn’t make for a super fun time. I get that the boys are cruising but c’mon - I’m a great Fag Hag and love to boogie.

In my many years of coming here I walked into A house once - it just wasn’t super woman friendly.

So - skip the mermaid party tonight? Or might it be fun? I will get my partner to come - he is a happy night owl and happy to flirt with guys. We are also a bit on the older side.

Advice welcome!!
