Any show that's as funny and cute you'd recommend?
I hate sobby dramas especially when there're big conflicts caused by misunderstandings

i didn’t watch the drama in one go / one sitting so i can’t exactly remember the beginning. who exactly sent the army / assassins that “killed” xie zhang in the beginning?
i know wei xuan shot the arrow but just want to understand which army is xie zhang first fighting in the beginning. to my understanding in episode 8 when xie zheng is explaining to gongsun yin what happened, the flashback shows the army xie zheng is first fighting looks like a regular army (maybe just the army from lord changxin) then in the aftermath black robed soldiers (maybe wei yan’s suicide warriors?) are checking to see if everyone died?
TIA!
I would say 8. I actually enjoyed them and their scenes. I did feel some kiss scenes were a bit lackluster and not so emotional, but overall, it was good.
I know that qian qian saved him from drowning and such but I don’t think it’s really explained how that ends up with them having a baby together? I think there is a scene where Qi Min’s mom said he “made use” (?) of qian before? And she seems frightened of him in the flashbacks when he has a scar and such. TIA for explaining 😊
Just finished The Pursuit of Jade and I can't believe this was my first c-drama.
I absolutely loved both the female and male leads. The female lead was smart, resilient, and easy to root for, while the male lead completely won me over with how supportive and dependable he was. Neither character felt over-the-top or perfect—they just felt real.
One of my favorite things about the drama was the romance in the first half. It developed so naturally compared to a lot of romance shows I've watched. The leads actually spent time getting to know each other, building trust, and working together, so when the feelings started developing, it felt believable and earned. I found myself smiling through so many of their scenes together.
The chemistry was great, but what really stood out to me was how comfortable they seemed with each other. Their relationship felt grounded in mutual respect, which made me even more invested in them as a couple.
As someone new to c-dramas, I wasn't sure what to expect, but this drama completely pulled me in. Now I'm worried my very first c-drama has set the standard way too high. 😂
Would love to hear what everyone else thought, and I'm definitely open to recommendations for what to watch next!
It was never explained. Was it just movie magic or blatant plot hole?
I absolutely loved the girls supporting girls dynamic between Changyu and Qianqian. I was so tired of the toxic love triangles or petty jealousy, seeing these two independent girls support eachother and not fight over a guy was SO refreshing to me
they always had eachothers back and they didnt take nonsense from anyone. which is what made me love them even more
did you find yourself looking forward to their scenes just as much as me (because i know i cant be the only one)
is there any drama with similar duos like these two? (preferably cdramas)
I've been reading comments on red note and bilibili. Apparently he spent two months filming many battle scenes, and a lot of his highlights or important scenes were deleted to make way for other side characters, because the those actors are pushed by the investors of the drama.
I just started watching Maiden Holmes with a very young and healthy Zhang Linghe. And I am so surprised by how muscular he is in this drama. He has to be at least 30-40 lbs heavier. But I must say that this weight looks damn good on him. I absolutely love his height but I wish that the C-drama beauty standards weren’t so high. Even though I love him know matter what size, I still wish that he just remains happy and healthy without having to conform to unrealistic expectations and standards.
can we talk about the mausoleum scene in Episode 36? That scene completely blew me away. Everything worked for me—the cinematography, the lighting, the music, and especially the acting.
The emotions felt so raw and restrained at the same time. ; you could feel the weight of everything through their expressions alone.
It's one of those scenes that stays with you long after the episode ends.
Bruh loved the main couple from the start but they are so vanilla and boring at the end……
Qimin and Qian Qian actually stole the show and was the hook.
Changyu and Xie Zheng had the perfect plot i don’t know why they are so damn boring and vanilla
I’m so annoyed bc there’s so much potential for main lead 🤦🏻♀️ but the script decided to be boring at the end
I'm very late to the party, but I just finished watching Pursuit of the Jade, and one thing that stuck with me and honestly confirmed my speculation was the final scene and what Yu Qianqian said.
I haven't read the novel or any related material, so these are just my thoughts after finishing the drama.
From the very beginning, we don't know much about her. She's introduced as a successful businesswoman who owns a restaurant and quickly befriends our main character. As the story progresses, her background slowly unfolds, and we're introduced to Bao'er, the son she hides to protect his life.
The explanation of how she arrived in the city while pregnant is pretty vague. We're simply told she was a runaway. Up until that point, she doesn't really affect Changyu's storyline in a major way.
While watching, I was already impressed by how capable she was at running a business. Then Qi Min was introduced and later revealed to be Bao'er's father. When we finally learn their backstory, we see that she saved him by performing CPR.
A lot of transmigration stories involve either being reborn or waking up in the body of someone who has just died... I feel like Yu Qianqian may have awakened in this world around the time Qi Min was drowning and saved him. It almost feels like that was the first thing she did after arriving.
Later, it's also established that CPR is not a common life-saving technique in that world. Yu Qianqian specifically says that where she's from, that's how people save someone. Beyond that, her way of running a business, her attitude toward problems, and many of her decisions feel very modern. She consistently behaves more like someone from the present day than someone raised in the setting of the story.
The final scene is what really convinced me. After she finally kills/poisons Qi Min, she seems exhausted but also relieved. She tells Changyu that her home is very far away and that she can't return.
Throughout the entire story, she's constantly running. Once the main reason for that running is finally gone, she seems lost. She no longer knows what her purpose is and realizes just how far removed she is from her original home. There is simply no way back.
By the end, we see her raising Bao'er as the future emperor's mother. She finally finds a purpose and accepts the reality of the world she's living in.
To me, it looks like a classic transmigration story... but it's not her story.
We're not watching Yu Qianqian's journey. We're watching Fan Changyu's. Yu Qianqian is simply a side character whose transmigration story is happening in the background, outside the main narrative.
To put it simply, it's like watching a y/n and the red-flag billionaire ceo story, except you're the overworked employee standing off to the side watching everything happen lol.
All in all it was an amazing drama...I was kinda disappointed by how they waterboarded us the info at the other half of the drama because it got confusing. But anyways it was a great watch!!

I love the story and humour of the show but the make up on them really turns me off.
I did not watch Twilight but I have seen images of Robert Pattinson in Twilight as a vampire and that's what I thought the makeup in PoJ made all of them look like vampires instead.
Yall didn't realise but xie chang's master (tao taifu or grand tutor tao) was he suye's grandfather in the best thing✨✨
So it was zhang linghe's second drama with him✨✨
Every time I see that chiseled jaw and long, soft neck, oh boy! And those lips on top of it all. I can just sit there and watch him sleep! Mmmm
I am a big fan of the series and read.the book also. I appreciate the characterization of Changyu who is such a dare devil. But one thing that kept bothering me was that Changyu being a strong fighter is such a big plot point. If she was not a super strong, super fighter but still took care of Xie Zheng when he was injured and down, would he have cared for her later? And then she kind of upgraded herself by earning a military position to be worthy of him. In the book she says I am earning dowry by being in military. While that gave us a wonderful heroine, I cant help thinking why does she need to do that when she is such a resilient, lovely, kind girl as is. How important is her physical strength and ability to fight in the overall plot? Would things not worked out for the couple if Changyu was not interested in physical fights and military but went back to her sister?
Edit :- to explain what i am trying to get at. Imagine Xie Zheng was a famous football player who got lost , landed in Lina'n and saved by Changyu. Rest everything stays same except that Changyu has also been trained in football by her father. When Xie Zheng goes back to his football team & she discovers he is a world cup winning captain, she starts learning football to be with him.And then becomes the MVP of his team. They live happily ever after. My problems is that despite how much she loves him, she had to become an exceptionally good football player for their happily ever after. Her innate strength, independence and love wasnt enough for the plot to succeed. She had to redesign her life around his.
Edit 2: As one of the commentators pointed out she is a natural leader who inspires people and wants to do her bit to end the war. And not necessarily trying to mould herself for him & his world. I think that makes more sense.
Stills taken from POJ (left) and Story of Kunning Palace (right). ZLH is handsome, but POJ production team truly knew how to showcase it.
I was watching one of TXW's other drama (New Life Begins) when I spotted a familar face
