3.0T Mildew tilted sunroof

I drive a lot with my sunroof tilted with all the windows up and sometimes I get a mildew smell when I turn the AC off after driving a bit. I’ve cleaned the EVAP system, changed the air filter, and checked the sunroof drain. Using fresh air helps with the AC off, but it’ll creep back sometimes at high speeds.

3.7 used, mileage question

Planning on buying a 2014-2015 Q50 3.7. What mileage would you consider the sweet spot on these, and at what point is it usually not worth it anymore?

Also, what maintenance records or issues should I specifically look for when checking one out?

Upgrading from 3.7 to 3.0T. Thoughts?

I’m upgrading from my 2015 Q50 that has roughly 100,000km but has come up with a bunch of issues such as bad rack and pinion, worn out control arms which is gonna cost a pretty penny to fix. Depending on how it goes, dealer offered me $13,000 CAD for trade in and I buy a 2021 Q50 Sport Tech that only has 9000 kilometres on it for $31,500. I also managed to asked them to CPO the car as it’s an Infiniti dealer and I’ll get unlimited KM warranty till January 2028. Also 2 years worth of free oil changes and free tire rotations. I feel like I managed to cop out a pretty good deal for this and the safety features alongside the general features are so much more compared to my 2015.

I know the turbo issues exist but I don’t plan on modding the car at all and will keep it stock at least until the warranty is there. Car has no accidents, one owner who was elderly.

Safe Transmission Operating Temps?

After my VR30 trans swap my transmission pan temp reading reaches 230’s occasionally after really pushing the car, with torque converter temps hitting mid 240’s.

Is this excessive? What high temp readings are you guys seeing?

Wheel color opinions

I’ve been thinking of changing my wheel color to maybe a brushed silver with a clear coat or chrome but I’m still conflicted if I should pull the trigger. Just curious on opinions if I should keep or change. Thanks!

Noise identification help

  1. went to pep boys to get my back brake pads changed. They said my fronts were good and rotors were good.

  2. went to my family mechanic and he said my front pads needed to be replaced and I had a warped rotor.

Got that fixed, and today I’m hearing this sound. Any clue what it could be before I send my car BACK into the shop? I work these next few days so I REALLY need the car if I can avoid putting it in the shop tomorrow.

Car drives great. I’m hoping it’s something easy.

Anyone have experience running 10-15mm spacers on a Q?

Thinking of running 10-15mm spacers on my Q, but a lot of people are telling me that spacers are going to cause issues or put extra wear on my suspension. Does anyone have any experience using spacers on their Q or know if it’ll cause any problems/extra wear?

Someone lemme know
Thanks

Upgraded to the Mo-Powa PLM Heat Exchanger on my Q50 Red Sport. Learn from my oil cooler line mistake!

What’s up guys, just wanted to make a quick post about my Mo-Powa PLM heat exchanger install on my Red Sport in case it helps somebody avoid the same headache I ran into.

Install itself honestly wasn’t too bad. Took the front bumper off, just clips and bolts like usual. Pulled the tiny OEM heat exchanger out, disconnected the coolant lines so make sure you’ve got something ready to catch fluid, then wiggled it out.

The Mo-Powa PLM heat exchanger is WAY bigger than stock though, so don’t expect it to fit into the factory brackets. You have to use the relocation brackets that come with the kit to move the stock oil cooler up higher above the new HX in front of the radiator.

Now here’s where I messed up and hopefully save y’all some time. Since the oil cooler gets relocated, the factory lines won’t reach anymore. I tried extending them with 1/2” lines thinking it would work. Bad idea. As soon as I started the car and oil pressure built up, it leaked everywhere.

The fix was using the correct 3/8” I.D. high pressure oil lines with proper clamps. Once I swapped to the right size lines and tightened everything down, zero leaks.

For refilling the coolant system, I used a vacuum filler. Highly recommend doing that on the VR30 because it helps avoid air pockets completely.

Overall though, the Mo-Powa is legit. Recovery times are way faster now and the car doesn’t heat soak nearly as bad after back-to-back pulls.

If you’re planning on doing this install soon, definitely pay attention to those oil lines when using the relocation brackets and use a vacuum filler if you can. Feel free to ask if y’all got any questions.

Edit: I used a BMS install vid because the hx is virtually the same, red hoses on the tarp are the 1/2 ID lines which looked sick but leaked like crazy. Also my red sport is the fully loaded with all the bells and whistles
