Please Help Me Off the Struggle Bus

I started quilling at the beginning of the year, and it is not something that comes naturally to me. I have bad vision, I’m colorblind, and my fine motor skills suck because I am chronically ill. I really wanted to try a new hobby that required me to use my hands (and not be staring at a screen), and I found that I enjoy it.

The problem that I am running into is that the different things I’ve seen online are just too complicated for me. The work on here is gorgeous, and I dream of someday being that good, but does anyone have recommendations for somewhere where I can find very simple, beginner friendly designs?

Currently, I am working on a birthday card for my niece, and I am also hoping to do Christmas cards. I only send out about half a dozen, so I think that’s a realistic goal. Niece is 12, and she loves soccer and dogs.

Friend: “Could you make me a dinosaur?”, Me: “I can try!”

My second attempt at 3D quilling. Those little spikes were a b*tch lol. The only reason I am making things so tiny right now is because I need to get more paper. Can’t wait to start some big 3D quilling soon!

A bit late but I'm finally posting LGBTQ+ earrings!

The first one represents the LGBTQ+ flag, and the second one is the bisexual flag, as I identify as bi.

Biodiversity

This floral sampler is intended to celebrate Earth's precious - and endangered - biodiversity.

It was so much fun to create the flowers and butterflies. Some are based on real flowers and some are entirely made up, as far as I know. But perhaps even they grow in some as yet unexplored forest or jungle and we just don't know it yet.

Paper strips, glue, marker (to color the edges of some fringed blossoms), and cotton weaving yarn to make the rope edging. Tools: slotted tool, needle tool, quilling comb, husking board, crimper.

First 3D project!

This was a really fun one, but tedious! Those little petals are tough - squeezing them into teardrops has left my fingers sore lol. My fault for only making it 1 1/2 inches tall! But I am super happy with it and will definitely be making more!

Taught my class paper quilling and here are their their finished artworks!

I’m so proud of them for doing their best even if they had difficulty doing it at first, but I kept on encouraging them to be patient, do their best and enjoy the process.

Trying to incorporate my favorite podcast into my Fandom gallery wall and this is what I landed on

Very first quilling! Can't wait to do more, but still have some things to fix!

Help please

I have a quick question for the art community, especially those who specialize in paper quilling. What type of frame do you prefer to use for your creations—wood or fiberboard? I am striving to establish myself as a professional quilling artist, so I want to ensure my work is presented with the quality it deserves. I would truly appreciate your honest feedback on which option is better and what the industry standard is. Thank you for your guidance!"
