City dog sees first turtle

Buster just has no idea what this thing is. Very curious! We moved the turtle, so nosey boy wouldn’t get snapped.

13 y/o sleep habits

My 13-year-old ratchet who lives in hot steamy Florida with me seems to sleep quite a bit. Our walks are shortened because he's just not into it. Of course it could be the onset of Summer I guess...

Nike looks just like the portrait at the vet

Vaccine booster. Nervous! But I love that he looks like the model for this painting on the wall.

Big Boy is 33 lb!

I took my 2 year old little guy to the vet this past week and he weighed a whopping 33 pounds. He definitely feels Ike a heavy 33 pounds when you pick him up. Is anyone else’s also secretly Dwayne the Rock Johnson??

🐾 Meet 12 week old puppy Bambi

ID #A2075000

12-week-old Chihuahua mix (brown/white)

5 pounds

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲: 5/14/2026

Status: Rescue Only — Very scared young puppy

Medical Notes:

Bambi is a very young puppy diagnosed with intestinal parasites, including hookworms (++) and whipworms (+++), with loose/mucoid stool noted in the kennel. He has been started on deworming treatment (Panacur and pyrantel protocols with scheduled repeats). Routine intake vaccines and flea prevention have been administered. Continued monitoring and strict parasite control are required due to his age and infection level.

Behavior Summary:

Bambi is extremely fearful and reactive, showing strong stress responses during handling. Staff report trembling, whale eyes, low growling, snapping, screaming, and air snapping when approached or when attempts were made to obtain samples or move him. Once securely held, he calms and can be handled, but his initial responses indicate intense fear and lack of trust. His behavior is consistent with a frightened neonatal/young puppy overwhelmed by the shelter environment.

Is it possible to train them to not chase indefinitely?

We just got a 1.5 year old terrier mix (looks like mostly rat terrier?)2 weeks ago and this is my first dog. He's a rescue and is so great (housetrained, no aggression, no pulling on leash) We've been extremely careful to never let him out without a leash. Today he got out on our porch, saw a cat and bolted. We chased him down and caught him (once he lost the cat, he started playing/running away from us like it was a game) but it was the worst 8 minutes of my life.

My question is, will he just always chase a rodent/small animal because its part of his breed/genetics, or can you train terriers to not run away/have good recall even with distractions? I'm pretty rattled from that experience.
