Spring board terriers

I think these dogs have springs built in. I have never known such a bouncy dog 🤣 he will jump clear over my head if he feels like it.

What's one more sport?

My boy (2yr old NM Rat terrier x Boston) is already my scent detection dog in 3 organizations, he does chaseability, sprinters, trick dog training and i figured why not introduce him to a dock diving pool and see if i can get him swimming. Well here we go! Guess we will be starting another sport! Maybe by the end of next summer I will get some jumps off the dock!

Rescue question in regards to religious garb

We have a wide array of patrons that come enjoy our pool and we are happy to see any of them!

We did have an incident yesterday, everyone is ok! However there was a wonderful Muslim woman with her family swimming. She wore all the appropriate modest swim wear made by a fantastic swim company that we have recommended to many of different religious backgrounds requiring different levels of modesty coverage.

The issue arose when she tried to follow her daughter into the deep end and slipped under. Yes we have a deep end rope, yes we whistled to her to get her to stop. She ignored us all and ducked under the deep end rope to discover the pool slopes down and gets deep fast.

The lifeguards on staff all responded quickly and efficiently. They pulled her out, cleared the pool ect. however she got very angry at them because one was a male lifeguard and she is not allowed physical contact with any man beyond her husband and son as an adult married women and then she was also angry that we had let her hijab fall back during the rescue, about half the top of her head was exposed.

We did immediately clear the pools and bring her to an area that is not visible to the public and the male guard stepped back as soon as she was safely out of the water and left her to the female guards.

However she is now wanting to file a lawsuit saying we did not respect her religious rights.

My manager is amazing and dealing with it however does anyone have any pointers or dealings with members of different religions that have such strict rules around opposite sex touching (even in a rescue) and things such as accidental exposure of limbs/hair ect.

We have never had such a case happen! We will be reviewing our waivers to include some sort of wording that gender baised rescue is not available and lifeguards will respond as needed to each situation (something along those lines, legal deparment is working on it)

Evolution of the trick Basket Ball

I am so happy that i can now play "basket ball" with my boy (rat terrier x boston) across my apartment. Now that the middle of the day is reaching 30C it is to hot to hang outside for to long. Brain games are important and this one is a brain game and some physical work!

I did it!

I am so proud of myself! I was given my girl in 2021. I was told she was maybe 4 years old, retired from showing and breeding because she ate her puppies and had no confidence. She came to me as a tiny little gremlin covered in dirt and scared of everything.

I have been searching for YEARS to find her original breeder. Her microchip led me to the USA (I am in Canada) and after much sleuthing around the Canadian kennel club, American kennel club, breed specific clubs ect I found her original breeder. My girl was born Jan 8th 2018 in California. Her breeder sold her to a show home in Canada that turned out to not be the best.

This breeder thanked me for finding her. Shared that my girl comes from dual champion bloodlines and she always wondered what happened. I love her regardless of her bloodlines but I knew with how wonderful her confirmation and work drive is that she came from a good breeder that wouldnt have thrown her away, and I was right. I am so happy 💜

The breeder is going to look through her records for pictures of my girls parents and send them to me 🥰

People watching but make it creepy

Out for a walk and my boy decided he has to stare HARD at some people playing Frisbee golf in the field next to us. Everyone had a good laugh once they realized he was watching.

Best friends

My boys best friend is the most beautiful field golden. They wrestle, chase and play. They will also exist in the same space without being insane which is a bonus.

Old Girl learning scent detection

I got my almost 10yr old girl when she was 5 after retiring from show dog life. She had no confidence and was broken. (Some show dogs are loved and part of the family, she was not and lived in a kennel or show ring). I got her Novie Trick dog title and now we are going to continue learning scent detection. Her confidence is so high after sessions! Hopefully I can enter her in her first trial in the fall :)

My boy just turned 2. I was worried about possible hip dysplasia when he was younger (8ish months) and had proper hip xrays done under sedation.

He was totally fine. Amazing joints.

He has ALWAYS had a shaky back right leg (and sometimes left) but only after he has serious exertion. He is a RUN until he drops dog. We do scent detection, trick dog training and lots of long hiking/runs. He is not limping or showing pain otherwise just gets shaky in his back leg(s). My vet has checked him out since the xrays and and he is fine! But google has me all worried. . .

Any thoughts? Helpful words?

Edit to add: YES he is a mix. He is a rat x boston. Thank you for those that pointed out he is a mix. He is my amazing Brat boy and I adore him so much!
