Excrement in Public?!?

I was walking down College Street when I saw what looked like a massive brown rat body with a short tail at first, dead and lying there, but then realized it was actually a small mound of this subreddit.

Imagine the smell!

Nice family outing in Burlington

A few days ago, my family and my brothers’ families went to Buffalo wild wings because the 4 kids, ages 17 to 2, really wanted to go there for their first time. I hadn’t been there in years.

Everyone was enjoying their meals up until someone screamed “CALL 911!” . A homeless man had walked directly from outside to the bathroom and immediately overdosed. Two firetrucks and ambulance later we had to grabbed our check and left, trying to downplay the situation to the younger children who had just witnessed their first OD in the Queen City.

I guess that’s just life in the big city.

Write in campaign for Chittenden Co. State’s Attorney!?! Let’s give it a try! I’m writing in Bram Kranichfeld come November!

There are no other candidates running. It won’t throw the race to anyone else. It’s a huge long shot but George has been a disaster for the county and especially Burlington.

Can we agree to just ignore and downvote brigaders from the other Burlington sub?

edit: i guess i need to clarify brigading. it's people from another sub coming to a sub they don't like not to engage in conversation but to troll and disrupt. You know what i mean- the people mocking this sub, calling us right wing, etc. many subs actually have rules against it, as it ruins the sub

Banning it would be against the spirit. But it's going to be annoying if every post here is overwhelmed with people attacking the sub. If we just downvote they won't have any visibility

Sarah George’s Policies Offer Good Intentions but Not Results

This was removed from r/burlington, so I’m reposting it here.

Sarah George constantly describes her policies as evidence-based, but where is the evidence? We still don’t have public data showing who receives diversion, who completes it, who reoffends, or what happens after repeated failures.

Given the evidence we do have, and what anyone can see with a walk through City Hall Park or a ride down the bike path, I think it is pretty clear that the city has trended in the wrong direction since George was first appointed in 2017 and elected in 2018.

The good news is that there is precedent for turning things around, and you don’t have to look any further than Sarah George ally Chesa Boudin, who was recalled in San Francisco in 2022. Since then, property crime and violent crime have declined dramatically.

We don’t need to criminalize homelessness, but we do need accountability. Sarah George has not offered that, and “trust me” is not a good enough reason to give her another term.

Please vote for Bram Kranichfeld today.

Greed at the food shelf

I know everyone has a different situation, but damn. Today a lady was posted up at Feeding Chittenden for HOURS, filling box after box, while constantly harassing the volunteers for more. She greedily emptied the meat freezer all for herself. It came to the point where she finally got kicked out. I had never seen such greed at the food shelf.
