What could have caused this filter failure?

2024 gti 170. Just had the maintenance done and took it out. 2 minutes in get hit with a turn off engine immediately warning and it was smoking and the whole bottom is filled with oil, oil everywhere. Even painted and stained the interior walls lol. Take a look at the filter and it is not even finger tight. This is obviously the shop that did the maintenances responsibility? Did they not tighten it or not seat the o rings right? Where to go from here? This picture is “as found” btw, all I did was take the cover off.

Water sitting in external footwell for about a week — okay or problem?

Hi,

I keep my Sea-Doo on a dock with the cover on. I noticed some rainwater has been sitting in the external molded footwell area for almost a week. It’s not inside the hull, storage compartment, under the seat, or near the battery/electronics as far as I can tell.

The cover has been on, but I left one zip slightly open for ventilation.

Is this something to worry about after around a week, or is it generally fine as long as it’s only in the external footwell? What do you guys normally do — towel it out every time, tilt the ski, leave it, or just let it clear when riding?

Main concern is mildew/smell or any long-term issue from letting water sit there while covered on the dock.

Electric winch recommendation

I launch my seadoo from my property with a beach cart. Last season I used a portable winch powered by a corded drill. I want to go with something more permanent. I have access to 120 VAC residential power. I'm thinking of using a 12 V ATV style winch hooked up to a battery with a battery charger. I cannot use an actual ATV to launch or keep the seadoo on a floating dock. Before I embark down this road, I'm curious what others in a similar situation do / use?

Seadoo handle broke

Just bought a 2015 gti 130 and first day i took it out the right handle broke after an hour of spirited riding, luckily they’re not that hard to manage with only one handlebar so i was able to get back to the dock. How do i replace just one handlebar?

Is the lid latch able to be replaced?

Does anyone know if this piece on a 2021 GTI is replaceable or is the lid latch molded onto the hood? I can’t seem to figure it out and I’m starting to guess it’s the latter

Post ride clean

What is everyone doing for their post-ride clean? Currently I just have my kid clean the water out of the footwells with towels…but I have the free labor so I might as well use it.

Anyone have a specific product they like to keep everything nice and fresh? I have a GTR230 and Spark FWIW. Freshwater only.

2021 Spark Trixx

Looking to buy my first Jetski, 2021 Spark Trixx with 45 hours. Been well maintained. Will this ski work fine to occasionally tow young kids around on a tube, or someone on a skim board? Also will have the wife on the back sometimes, but we are both pretty light.

Buying Advice Used Wake Pro + What Model?

Finally talked my husband into jet skis (have been talking about it for years to add to our regular lake trips), but starting to get cold feet. I was thinking to buy used, but the facebook owner’s group is terrifying. Is that really an awful idea?

Currently looking at a 2021 Wake Pro 230 and a GTX 170. Both around 40 hours and look visibly to be in excellent shape.

I am a slalom skier—hoping the wake pro 230 would work to ski behind.

Otherwise a family of 5, young kids (3 under 10).

Is the wake pro a good idea? Is used a terrible idea?

Need help - removing throttle/brake housing trim on 2026 RXTX

hey gang - upgrading my throttle levers on 2026 RXTX to the Riva billet levers, but none of the instruction docs/videos are up to date. There are no visible screws or entry points on the plastic housing to remove, so assume its all tabs and other fragile parts.

Has anyone removed these and can share some pointers on how to remove the housing without any damage?

GTX230 vs FishPro Sport 170

As the title suggests, looking at either a GTX230 or FishPro. Want to do a bit of both towing and fishing.

A friend has a GTR230 which we think is great and the initial plan was to get the same, however after speaking with the Seadoo rep, they convinced us that the GTX230 or FishPro would be more suitable due to the different hull giving a lot more stability.

Is there any difference (excluding the fishing accessories) between the GTX170 and FishPro? It seems the price difference is too little to just account for the fishing accessories.

I’ve never driven a 170 and won’t have chance to so a little worried that we’ll miss the power of 230 if we went with the FishPro.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Noco Lithium Batteries

Is anyone else running Noco batteries in their jet skis? I LOVE Noco stuff but I’ve had multiple issues since putting in their lithium NLP20 batteries. I have two Seadoo Sparks. One battery went bad to the extent that they sent me a new one on warranty replacement and now the other Spark is having battery issues. I’ve even mounted their smaller onboard chargers on each ski so I can plug them in easily.

Seems odd that they’re having issues but now I’m questioning if their lithium batteries are meant for water sports.

2017 300 Low RPM

I’ve been chasing an issue the last few months where the ski won’t go past 6-7k rpm. Usually it’s 6900 rpm but sometimes it’s 6500, and others it’s 6000. Ski seems to run great just feels like it hits a govenor. Supercharger had a couple thousandths of play on the shaft so I replaced it. Intercooler had some milky oil on the outlet side so I replaced it too. Pressure tested intake manifold at 20 psi and it was good. Put 3 sets of new plugs in. Spark is good. All hose clamps are secure. Oil level is good. Compression is good. No buds codes. Buds shows throttle at 100% accurately. Brand new impeller, perfect condition stainless wear ring. At a loss of where to go from here.

Switch flooded now won’t start

Was out riding the boat and went to start it up and battery gave error when I looked at battery the whole engine area was flooded. The hose in picture is what came off and flooded engine area. After we fixed that and got engine area empty boat still wouldn’t start I thought it was a weak battery but charged it all night and still won’t start just makes the whining noise. Any idea what to do?

$6000 trade in, worth it?

I’m looking to trade in my ski for a John Deere zero turn and the dealer is quoting me about $6,000 that they would give me for trade in value. I looked up the trade in rates seem to be like $6,500 on Nada and selling myself would be around $8,500-9500. Do you think I should try to negotiate further up to $6,500? The only aftermarket item are the riva sponsons. 94 hours, 2020 GTR 230. I’ve never sold on marketplace plus I need new trailer tires so thinking just trading it in and biting the bullet. I’d still take home $1,800 in my pocket after buying the zero turn. (John Deere z330r).
