Being in a relationship felt unproductive

I woke up this morning and thought how it would’ve been nice having someone there to scratch my back and wake up with.

After that though, as soon as my feet hit the floor, I quickly snapped out of it and remembered how unproductive it felt to have to think and work around someone else in the home instead of focusing on my own tasks for the day ahead.

If more people truly did the inner work, would being single actually become the default choice?

The deeper I go into genuinely knowing myself, my needs, my boundaries, my old patterns, the less dependent I become on other people to feel okay. This applies to romantic partners, but honestly to friendships too.

I used to hold this subtle, unconscious belief that if I worked hard enough on myself, a healthy partner would eventually show up as the ultimate "reward" for healing. Now I realize the life and peace I’ve built is the reward.

It makes me look at modern dating differently. Mainstream culture pushes people to jump from relationship to relationship, usually just to avoid being alone or to subconsciously try to fix old trauma through someone new. I genuinely wonder how many people in relationships would actually choose them if they had done the heavy lifting to earn a secure attachment with themselves first.

Lately, I just find myself pulling away from insecure dynamics almost automatically. I get overwhelmed by the constant noise of messaging apps, even from well-meaning people. The closer I get to my own peace, the more protective I am of my time. It’s not coming from fear or bitterness, just extreme clarity on what actually adds to my life versus what drains it.

It really makes me wonder how many people would genuinely choose to stay single if they’d truly done the inner work, rather than treating it like a sad, temporary waiting room.

Curious if others here have experienced this same shift toward deep autonomy and peace the more secure you've become in yourself.

SINKs, how do you add whimsy to your life?

I'm a SINK who is doing and has done everything she needs to do:

-cut off toxic friendships

- accepted my parents are who they are

- I have healthy boundaries with work and the few friendships I have

- I run and do Pilates so I work out 6 days of the week

- I stopped drinking alcohol it's been over a year now

- I took a break/quit dating apps early this year

- I don't have any socials except for reddit

- I read a tonne of books (always open to recommendations)

I feel like I'm doing everything I SHOULD be doing and my routine has become well, routine. I need to add a bit of whimsy, I spend alot of time solo due to different stages of life and lifestyles I no longer expect people to join me on my adventures. So ladies, I'm looking for inspo, how do you add whimsy in your everyday life?

What is your ideal dream home as a single woman?

I have two teenage sons who are almost grown & I am planning/manifesting my future life with myself 💕😍if money was no object, what would your dream home look like (or if you are in your dream home, what does it look like 👀)
I’ve always envisioned myself in a cottage type of home; close enough to civilization to get to town and shop or go to work but far enough away that I have peace, which is MOST important to me.

The Environmental Impact of a Baby

"Raising a baby significantly increases a household's carbon and waste footprint. An infant goes through 5,000 to 6,000 disposable diapers before potty training, generating millions of pounds of waste that can take 500 years to decompose. Added to endless plastic toys and fast-fashion clothing, a baby's footprint in the developed world is massive."

This isn't even including their own eco footprint when they grow up to be adults.

One of the best things I can do for this planet is remain childfree.

Lack of identity/purpose creates romantic obsession

This phenomenon is so prominent in women, especially.

In those sad relationship subreddits, mostly compiled of women who are treated terribly by their partners and those women still don’t leave them because they feel incomplete when single.

I think a lot of women forget that to be the spectacular, human individuals they are, they need to focus and direct energy outside of men. To nurture their hobbies, their interests, and careers, and know their brain inside and out.

It’s just not something anyone, especially women, should be directing their energy towards. Love is beautiful, but it starts with yourself

The poolside paradise I visit frequently in my dreams. My acrylic painting.

My dreams of a pool paradise isolated from reality. Nobody present to spoil the experience. The silence echoes. Completed in the style of Hiroshi Nagai.

What is a small or big win you had in your single life today? Drop a little anecdote

Today, I had a small but delightfully filling cheese and spinach empanada at a coffee shop with a matcha latte after work as my dinner. Didn’t have to plan or coordinate around anyone else’s eating schedule!!! Then took a walk on the beach

SINGLE and SOBER this summer??? How do you get the vibe right

Since I’m sober, I’m wondering what others do to make the most of their summer… do you go to parties still? I restrict going into certain environments out of both aversion and protection. But this leads to alot of alone time for myself and removal of the socialization (and fun?) aspect.

I know there’s more to the puzzle than my newly formed sober mindset is thinking

Please discuss
