For me, versatility in sound is key.

If you had to choose ONLY ONE SNARE DRUM, which one would it be?

-In the image, my **Mapex Black Panther Design Lab Heartbreaker Snare Drum (**8-ply, 8mm mahogany shell with 4-ply, 4mm mahogany reinforcement rings and dual air vents).

I used to have some others but I find these three all being really versatile cover the ground I need. My 2006 DW 12x7 , My 2021 Ludwig Black Beauty 5x14 8 lug, and my 1972 Slingerland Hollywood Ace in Black Diamond Pearl original wrap (which I got for free and restored). All have their own character but also respond fantastically in a wide range of tunings etc.

I saw this guy on marketplace over the weekend and decided that it needed to join the collection. The guy I bought it from described it a a supraphonic on steroids. (1/8in cast aluminum shell). Gave it a quick spin on the kit, and it really has a nice crack to it. Can’t wait to bring it to band practice this.
