A guy points a flashlight into the web of a very lucky spider!
affectionately named her Hamborgar because she looks like a burger, roommates + I love watching her work at night
Found him sitting on the wall behind my pillow & noticed he was pretty dehydrated so I gave him a lil water before returning him outside, he eventually figured it out & had a drink :)
Enjoy, my fellow spider gang
My newest roommate! I can't get over how beautiful this little creature is!
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she's a spiny orb weaver.
She's been with me for 4 days now. Same spot. However, it's a bit unnerving that she lives between my screen door and the main door. I have to be extra careful coming in and out of the house.
She is my youngest and most delicate daughter but she is badass!
I made sure to tell her how much I love her!!!
I couldn’t get closer without touching the web and disturbing them
We got our jumping spider two months ago for my husband’s birthday. Spidey was her name! The cutest! We loved her. Admired her all the time and watched her molt and grow. She was a tiny little baby when we got her and we re-homed her twice. A smaller enclosure at first and a bigger enclosure later (a month ago) to make sure she got all the space she needed. She had some leaf litter in there and some tiny springtails in the soil. We always made sure to feed her fruitflies when she looked hungry (we used the spider feeding chart) and the temperature has always been between 21-25°C (depending on outside temperature), and we misted the enclosure, on the soil (never onto her or the twigs close to her), twice a day with a few sprays. She molted two times since we got her, and she seemed completely fine after her molt. We checked on her during her molt by turning the enclosure, but we didn’t open it or touch her (did we do something wrong??)We waited a couple of days after every molt before we would feed her as we are aware of how vulnerable they are during these conditions.
Three days ago she was waving at us, all happy and healthy from what we could tell. We put a couple of fruitflies in her enclosure so she could hunt and eat when she wanted as she looked hungry. Today my husband said “I think spidey is dead” and indeed she was..god this stings. She was so cute.
She was just hanging there, not moving. I don’t know what happened..we are so incredibly sad.
If any of you have any advice, ideas on what happened, or at least any clues, we’d truly appreciate it. I will attach a few photos I just took of her. Also, please be kind..we are super sad😞💔
This beautiful lady has been protecting my front door for a month. She got so big!! Sadly she died later that night, but I'm excited to meet her children.
She used to live on the cherry tomatoes (last photo) with her now deceased husband (not pictured out of respect for the dead). Now that she’s double her size, she moved on over to the much larger San Marzano tomatoes to support her family. Today she had a lovely lunch and is enjoying another peaceful day in the garden. I love her so much.
We have a fruit fly invasion in our house currently and I found this little guy chilling on top of my toaster oven looking for fruit flies, I don’t know if I should let him chill in my kitchen and hunt fruit flies or relocate him outside, I’m worried about his health as he may get injured or crushed.
This is Gilbert, a wild jumping spider from north Florida. He’s very chill with humans and approaches me whenever I come to sit next to him and sometimes jumps on me. I’ve been hanging with him all week and he’s very identifiable because of his personality.
In the video he did a little trick that I would like to share to the world. If you can see in his first jump he aims diagonally upwards and you can even see the blur of him moving that way, but then there is a second blur of him immediately moving back really quickly. Just thought this was a neat thing that I don’t see recorded often of just how quick they really are.
No name as yet. I have another who is currently in premolt.
