What if Stephanie crossed the line

After pondering how much I hated war crimes again, I had a random thought. One of the very few redeeming moments in the story is the showcasing of Steph rejecting the option to kill black mask

My question is how would the bat family react if she had taken out black mask?

Happy anniversary to Stephanie Brown’s Batgirl run! It was my introduction to Steph and made me instantly fall in love with the character.

What I want for Stephanie Brown!

This is all my opinion, there is no right or wrong, yall can only agree or disagree. But please, share your opinions as well, I would love to hear them.

Firstly, I love the direction Tate Brombal is going in the current New Titans. Stephanie as a leader and a strategist was always something I've personally wanted for her. That being said, I would also like her to struggle with being a leader. I mean, she's leading a team with Red Devil (formally known as Kid Devil) and Terra, that is definitely not easy. Have her ask for advice from Dick, but don't have him do it for her. Also, this might just be me, but I want Nightwing and Cyborg out of this run. They're great, love them and all, but I want the new lineup to get the spotlight.

Secondly, where tf is her solo run? I've been wanting one since forever. Okay, maybe AFTER the Bad Seeds event, the current Batman run, and a lot more issues of the New Titans come out, but I really think that a new solo run for her is long overdue, min 5 volumes max… well… is there a need for one? This might be a hot take (or not, I just don't hear people talk about it) but I want her solo run to be written by Kelly Thompson (Birds of Prey, Hawkeye & Absolute Wonder Woman) with art by Jorge Jiménez (IDK I just love how she looks in the current Batman run).

  1. I want her to have new teamups. No Cassandra, no Bruce. I want to see her be a big sister to Damian again and interact with other Gotham vigilantes.

  2. I want Tim to be there for an issue or two, but only so that she can just snap, ditch the “cheerleader” persona (for TimBern) and ask him why they broke up. Now, I really wouldn't have minded them breaking up, I have absolutely no problem with Tim being Bi, but why tf do it off panel? I need explanations, I need reasons, I need Steph and Tim to have an actual fucking conversation on why he ended decades of comic book history off panel. I refuse to believe she's okay with Tim dating Bernard. I, and Steph, demand closure! And if I see Bernard on panel, I want Stephanie to swing a brick onto his face :)

  3. Team up with Minhkhoa Khan. Idk who says what, just one, one issue where the two team up is all I ask for. Have Stephanie irritate the shit out of Khoa. Have Khoa be fed up with her bs. I want Khoa to map out this absolutely perfect plan, only for Steph to say screw this and improv the whole thing (which turns out to be the better way to go). “But why would Ghost-Maker and Spoiler team up?” Umm… why not? Comedy is gold and this is just my opinion.

As for the plot… umm, I'm not a writer.

Thirdly, a new romance. This topic is so damn controversial. Some people want Tim & Steph back, some people want Steph & Cass, some people want her to move on already, hell, some people even want Steph & Yara.

Here's what I want:

I definitely think Stephanie deserves to move on. In a lot of comic books, whenever a long-term relationship ends, the male characters move on within a year or two while the female characters either become the supportive ex or a side character (Starfire, Wondergirl). I don't want that for Steph.

Romance is far from being a No. 1 priority right now. She needs to establish herself as a leader first, get her goddamn solo run (maybe add a potential fling there) and then we'll talk. I want flirty banter Steph back.

“What about Cassandra?” No, at least not imo. Steph was sidelined a lot when she was dating Tim, what makes you think the same won't happen? I don't want her to be a comedic relief for her partner again, I want her to be in a relationship where both her and her partner are treated like absolute equals, not just compliment off each other well. Also, don't use the broody x sunny trope for this, it's way too overused imo, there are other ways to do the “opposite attracts” trope.

Yeah, that's about it. Share your thoughts and uh, kudos to you if you actually read the whole thing.

What’s the last issue in the main continuity that Steph and Tim were seen as a couple?

Like, we know the breakup wasn't shown, but what was the latest issue that showed them together before Bernard?
Also, was the first issue after their breakup, the same one where Steph met Bernard?

Should Stephanie Brown Get A New Love Interest?

Before I say anything, I just wanna mention that I'm new to Reddit, so please go easy on me. Thanks.

I wouldn't say that I'm a huge fan of TimSteph; I thought it was a really good relationship, but I didn't mind if they were dating or just friends. Their dynamic worked well regardless of their relationship, but I did feel that Steph was often sidelined in a lot of stories, or too dependent on Tim (E.g.: James Tynion's Detective comics run)

Despite that, I still found their off-panel breakup to be absolutely ridiculous. I have no problem with Tim being Bi, or Tim and Steph splitting, but an off-panel breakup just seemed so half-assed. I felt like showing the breakup would have given us a realistic story about growing apart. It could have shown how Tim figured out his sexuality while still deeply respecting Stephanie.

I think DC making Steph immediately accept Bernard was their way of saying, "If she can move on, why can't you?" which is genuinely stupid; DC should've allowed her to be messy. The "perfectly supportive ex" trope feels so forced. Also, Bernard is just so bland as a character (Really, no hate to Bernard, but I'd rather watch paint dry than see him on panel).

With Tim retiring from being a vigilante because of Bernard, I don't think DC is bringing back TimSteph. With that being said, should Stephanie Brown get a new love interest?

In my opinion, yes, absolutely. Just not right now. Have one introduced either really late in the New Titans run (Leading the Titans proves her to be a top-tier strategist; Introducing a romantic subplot now could overshadow her capability as a leader) or in a solo run. I'm personally tired of her being this "supportive cheerleader" for Tim and Bernard (considering how they broke up), and I think that she deserves to move on herself. If she does get a new love interest, it should be someone from outside the Bat-Fam (And Gotham's vigilantes) entirely. This creates both a physical and narrative separation from Gotham and establishes her as an independent hero.

TL;DR:

The off-panel TimSteph breakup was a lazy cop-out that forced Stephanie into an unrealistically supportive role. With Tim retired, Steph deserves to move on, but only after establishing herself as a good strategist leading the New Titans. Her future romance should be outside Gotham to solidify her independence.

Anyways, that's just my opinion. Please feel free to share yours down below.

Does CW’s Gotham knights worth watching as a Stephanie Brown fan?

I watched the first episode and I don't know what I think about it.
I've seen that most people hated it, but it didn't look so bad or good honestly.
I just adore Steph in the comics, and I'm wondering if besides the name and blonde hair the Stephanie there is going to be similar.
What do you think?

Potential Stephanie Brown fanfic

Hello. I’m currently learning how to write so that I can write my fanfic idea. It’s going to be about Steph’s life in college and her struggles with finances, classes, and her identity as Spoiler/Batgirl (haven’t decided which one to use yet). This is going to be based on those 2000s Japanese films such as Swing Girls and Linda Linda Linda, as well as other elements from the tv series Derry Girls and minor elements from Sydney White. Huge amounts of girlhood and adult coming of age and comedy. I have a loose idea on what the plot is going to be about, but will add more depth and details but it’s basically gonna be about Steph working a mundane job and getting evicted from her apartment, and there’s an opening for a band of girls who desperately need a drummer after their old one quit on them. I will also write her with more edge and depth instead of being cheerful all the time. Also, Steph will have her own villains in this fic, not any villains associated with the Bat fam. I may include other bat fam members, such as Damian, Jason, and Tim, but they make minor to small appearances as this will be a Steph centric fic. Please let me know what I can do to improve on this. I miss Steph so much I hope DC gives her a good run.
