BIR lost my documents for the business I was supposed to close

Hello everyone just going straight to the point that BIR LOST MY DOCUMENTS like literally the Form 2303 and other important documents. There was a mistake in my payment for penalties so I immediately went to the cash and collection counter to ask for their help. I explained the situation and they asked for my documents that are almost nearing in completion. They told me na they would just contact me if ok na.

Weeks after wala pa ren update so I personally went there na even without their update and ask for the progress of my concern and guess what. They told me they fcking lost my documents. Meaning there was no progress and my documents like literally official documents of the business are gone 😀. Though the counter lady that learned about the situation (I guess she just learned that day too na may nawala pala silang documents) Kinda helped me and pinakita saken na nung araw lang na yun sila nagsimula to act about my concern but they still told me na bumalik nalang ulit at iemail nila ako 😃 its been 2 months and still no email I wasn't able to go back kase super busy with school and everything.

Haha Planning to go back today and if same paren na walang nangyari talaga or showoff lang yung ginawa nila nung last kong balik what should I freaking do? I'm also still filing kase di pa nga nagcoclose ang business and napapagod na ko. Please help me.

Is BIR like ... a superior entity than DTI?

Or are they together?

Like... kaya nilang mag-sabi na

"You don't need to get this DTI requirement" such as the Mayor's permit.

So, what is up with that?

Can I just go ahead and say

"I don't need to do this because BIR said so" Infront of DTI and not get in trouble for it?

Because from my understanding, I don't need to register to DTI if I am a Freelancer who uses their own full legal name in their invoices, EVEN IF I use an alias on my social media accounts.

Maybe even in "businesses" where I earn from royalties?

DTI is so clever with their wording, because in their notice, it says

"-using any name other than your true legal name"

But they didn't specify, so you are forced to think if they're referring to the mere front of your business/profession, or the invoice in itself? All to confuse the taxpayer, and overwhelm them with worrying about penalties and forcing them to spend registration fees.

Then BIR tells you that "It's ok" to NOT confide with DTI because one is a freelancer, and YET I see YouTubers registering with DTI. Why? Isn't YouTubing or being a Content Creator "Freelancing"?

Imagine my surprise when people thought registering only to DTI was good enough.

(Imagine that... you gotta PAY money first before earning money. Wtf)

New freelancer here. Need advice on BIR registration, taxes, SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG

Hi everyone!

I’m 23 years old, and I just graduated a few months ago. I came from a family that struggled financially, so growing up, we were more focused on making ends meet than learning about personal finance. Because of that, I never really had anyone to guide me about taxes, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, investing, or other financial responsibilities.

A few months ago, I started working as a full-time freelance software engineer for a foreign company. My income isn’t fixed, but I usually earn around USD 480–600 per week, depending on the workload. Since this is my first job and my first time freelancing, I’m still trying to understand all of my responsibilities.

Last November, I registered with the BIR, and my registration says “Not Taxable.” That’s why I’m confused about whether I should already be paying taxes or if I need to update my registration first.

I also don’t have SSS, PhilHealth, or Pag-IBIG yet, and I’m not sure what I should prioritize. My goal is to become financially responsible while I’m still young, build assets, invest wisely, and eventually achieve financial freedom. I know I have a lot to learn, and I want to make sure I’m doing things the right way from the beginning.

If you were in my position, what would you do first?

  1. Should I update my BIR registration and start paying taxes?
  2. Which should I prioritize first: SSS, PhilHealth, or Pag-IBIG?
  3. What financial habits or mistakes should a 23-year-old avoid?
  4. Is there anything you wish you had known when you started earning your own income?

I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you so much!

No email confirmation from using 7.9.6 ebirform last quarter. Is it better to reinstall the app?

Hi!

I filed first using 7.9.6 last quarter and didn’t received an email confirmation. After a few days, I decided to file again using the old version (7.9.5) and instantly received an email.

I am about to file for 2nd quarter, should I try using the 7.9.6 that I have on my pc or reinstall a new version of 7.9.6 from the site? I read some reviews na they received an email confirmation from 7.9.6.

Thanks!

Can I still change to 8% income tax rate option this year 2026? Newly registered business last May

Hello,

Registered the business just this first week of May 2026 thru DTI and BIR ORUS since online business sya

- Sole prop

- Non-vat
- under 3M annual gross income

At first, wanted to do graduated income tax pero I decided to chose opt-in to 8% income tax rate. Rgistered this thru online and I'm sure na cinlick ko yung opt-in doon pero nung naregister na, nabayaran na and lumabas yung COR (details are provided above) hindi ko ata na-click sya

Now, planning to file yung 1701Q and 2551Q this July 2026 and i-tick na lang yung 8% ITR option sa both forms. ( I haven't done it yet, still waiting for help and clarification talaga, may nabasa kasi ako na di raw pwede magchange to 8% during 2Q pero ang pwede raw gawin is i-file yung 2 forms kung gustong magswitch then magrequest sa bir by the end of the year para ma-switch sya)

Is it possible to still be able to switch to 8% income tax rate by filing yung both 2 forms above na 1701Q and 2551Q?

until the end of the year then magchange na lang thru:

ORUS > Update Information > Correction/ Change/ Update of Registration

Wanted to file and learn taxes by myself starting as a small business owner din thru online, would really appreciate your advice! Hope you can help

Change in RDO

I transferred from RDO 029 to 017A nung monday thru ORUS but until now di parin nagre-reflect ang new RDO. Kahit dun sa system generated COR, old RDO parin lumalabas.

Anyone went thru the same route successfully?

Unpaid invoice from 2nd quarter

Hi everyone! I am a VA and have already issued an invoice to an overseas client last April, pero hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin siya nagbabayad.

  2. Paano pag magfiffile na sa eBIRforms for 2nd quarter, kailangan bang isama yung unpaid invoice amount - or hindi rin muna?

Thank you! 🙏

Toxic company with undisclosed sales

Is it true that if I report a company to BIR due to Undisclosed Sales? The company might forced to be closed?

I had experience with this BIG company, famous to their resorts in Boracay. During the tax mapping in their manila office. The boss were giving nightnares to their employees. BIR has discovered one of their resort were issuing Invoice eventhough their office is unregistered (one of the many resorts office in the building). They own different resorts BTW and all resorts have different offices.

It was stressfull to the employees. Its like being raid for their illegal works. They stress their employees to hide the invoices as some are way passed 2024 , all undisclosed sales. They are hiding everything in the offices and some were shredded. The Boss turn off the lights in the other offices to avoid being question by BIR.

Operating without a valid BIR Certificate of Registration because some of their resort have not been renewed since Pandemic. Unregistered/Unissued Receipts: Issuing "ORs" (Official Receipts) or Sales Invoices that are not registered, expired, or printed without a valid Authority to Print (ATP) from the BIR.

Mind you they were awful company. Famous for their micromanagement. Late salary. Suffocating rules.

Wala pa rin confirmation email from eBIRforms 7.9.6

Closure of Business vs. Change of Address + New Receipts? (Freelancer)

Hi everyone. I made an impulsive decision 2 years ago and registered as a freelancer when I only had one client. I issued exactly one receipt, lost the client, and haven't had any income since. I’ve just been continuously submitting zero filings for the past 2 years.

I am currently a full-time post-grad student surviving on a scholarship and parent allowance, so money is very tight.

Here is my dilemma: I recently moved, so my registered address is now outdated.

Option 1 (Update Info): File Form 1905 for a change of address. However, this means my current Authority to Print (ATP) receipts will have the wrong address. I'd likely have to pay to print a whole new batch of receipts that I won't even use, since I won't be taking clients for the next few years.

Option 2 (Closure): Close the business entirely. I want to do this to stop the zero-filing cycle, but I've heard the closure process can be notoriously costly, stressful, and slow.

Which option is less of a financial burden and faster to process for someone with very low budget?

Appreciate any advice! 🥹

May commercial space po kaming pinaparentahan since 2022.

Quarterly Filing No Email Confirmation Yet

Hello po first time filer, nagfile po kanina ng 1701Q using new version.. kasama na din yung SAWT esubmission para .dat validation.. Hinintay ko nalang yung emails for both para makapagcompile for EAFS before deadline.. Upon reading some threads kinabahan tuloy ako dahil sa new version ng EBIRForms and yung dat validation emails na napakatagal

Update: I have screenshots naman din sa successful validation from the module and the ebirforms successful submission, would this suffice if the day arrives before the deadline na need ko na talaga mag submit sa eafs?

baka may makatulong po or at least some assurance na dadating din ito from using the new version of ebir..

Hello! We received an LOA from BIR. I am confident that all our records are accurate. However, my accountant said that if I allow BIR to go through my books, they will also check our bank records, which I do not agree with. Is this really the norm? And even if records are accurate, BIR will look and create errors and penalties kahit hindi tama. Please help
