As a Teddy Bear hoarder from DC, New Vegas, and the Commonwealth, I hate that these were not made collectible in OW2. I welcome the rifts.

Let's talk about the companions

In general, I loved all the companions in the first game. They were all funny/endearing in their own way, and certain pairings produced really funny dynamics. Try as I might, I just don't feel that way about any of the companions in the 2nd game. For whatever reason, there's just something about all their personalities that makes it harder for me to connect with/care about them. And since they're all associated with different factions, most pairings come with this awkward tension, that sometimes feels like it slips all the way into outright hatred. Just curious what people think, and if anybody else has a different read on the situation.

Companions and DLC

I know DLCs tend to add new places and quests to the game, but it would be really great to add new questions/conversations with the companions.

I really enjoyed them, but would really like to have learned more about them.

Edit: For Outer world 2 DLC.

The Archive: What did I do…

So, I convinced Auntie and the Order to work together. I fixed the Spireton elevator earlier in the game so that was fine. I even went to Spireton and saw the troops and Order guy running up. But when I went into the Archive, no support arrived so I killed everyone on the bridge and went in alone. I already had the Calcaduceus, truly cannot remember how or why (I took like 6 months off between starting the game and now). When I opened the door to the voice of the archive, I got the “hard way” achievement. Did I mess up my alliance? Will this change my end game?

How do Spacer’s feel about the future of TOW franchise?

What’s up, Spacers!!

After the recent happenings at Xbox, with laying off like 25% of Obsidian’s staff, how do we feel about TOW’s lifespan?

I absolutely LOVED TOW1, and even more so for TOW2, I was so disheartened when the news came out in July about layoffs. TOW has become one of my favorite game franchises, I love the world they have created, I LOVE the dialogue in these games, the DLC for TOW1 were phenomenal, so I’m hoping TOW2 DLCs live up to what I’m expecting. But, how does everyone feel about the life cycle of this franchise?

I really hope they continue to expand on this world, spacer’s choice, auntie’s choice, the radio and songs from TOW2 are literally in my most played songs playlist lol I adore TOW, and Obsidian for creating such a GEM 💎 of a world and story and game.

While the timeline for DLCs for TOW2 is around the corner, what do yall think about TOW’s lifespan? Do you think we’ll eventually get a TOW3?

Would love any input! Thanks everyone, and remember, it’s not the best choice, it’s Spacer’s Choice!! 🤭

This painting of a retrofuturistic Chicago shows exactly what The Outer Worlds's Earth may look like

I recently discovered Ganshirt Art's YouTube video of him painting a retrofuturistic vision of Chicago, specifically imagining the city as a hub of space travel. Let me just say, his depiction of Chicago just screams The Outer Worlds to me.

There are a few reasons for this. First, the layout and cityscape in the painting is inspired by Chicago's Burnham Plan, a 1909 proposal for redesigning the city according to the City Beautiful movement. We know that The Outer World's timeline diverged from our own in 1901, so a reimagining of Chicago according to a pre-WWI design makes a lot of sense for the world of the game series.

On a more personal note, I have speculated that Chicago could be an important city back on Earth. In my headcanon, while the World Wars as we know them didn't happen, global tensions eventually erupted into a massive "Great War" sometime in the mid-21st century. I believe this conflict may have led to the creation of the Earth Directorate; in OTL, both world wars led to movements to create a unified global government (the League of Nations and then the United Nations). While NYC was headquarters for these real life organizations, I like to think the Earth Directorate is based in Chicago. In keeping with TOW's hyper-industrialized aesthetic, I like to think that maybe the American Rust Belt never lost its significance, so hubs of American industry never fell into decay. This means cities like Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, and of course Chicago, could have stayed significant cities on a global scale. So why not have the Earth Directorate headquartered in Chicago? Especially since, in Ganshirt Art's video, the centerpiece of the futuristic Chicago is a massive steampunk space elevator. It makes sense the ED's main city to also be a massive hub for space travel.

So yeah, I highly recommend checking out this video and the others by the artist. He also has great videos making to-scale paintings of various cities from Fallout and The Elder Scrolls.

Did the speech requirement change in order to start negotiations between Auntie and Ruth?

I was doing some research on how to get the order and auntie’s to work together and found out that you 7 points in speech to speak to Ruth and 14 to negotiate.

Well, I just spoke to Ruth and I only needed 4 points in speech, so did the other part change as well? Mines is at 11 right now and I don’t wanna keep waste points into it if it did.

Am I missing something or is the healing system in OW2 trash??

It's been awhile since I played the first one but I don't remember being so frustrated when it came to healing.

In this one it seems I can only use the inhaler twice per combat session and it doesn't let me use food while IN combat. So basically I can only heal twice, then it's win, die, or retreat back to the next county so I can use food.

Am I missing something about how to heal more than twice??

Thanks for any help

Outer worlds 2 Psychopath run

I was thinking of doing a no survivors run of the game, and i was trying to think of what skills i would need, engineering for stuck doors, lockpicking, hack, and probably explosives for fun and some doors. I was wondering if there was anything else i'd need for specific circumstances, like a person locked behind a specific skill check.

Does anyone know how to reset The Board reputation in TOW1?

As the question says, I have softlocked myself from going to Byzantium by, I assume, killing some TDL soldiers during the SubLight relay quest, now I'm kill on sight for The Board soldiers, and there isn't anything I can do. I tried console commands, I tried Cheat Engine tables (they are old, and hence don't work anymore), and I'm honestly out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have the Epic Games Spacer's Choice Edition if it helps any.

Skills down and I can’t figure out why

For some reason, her lock pic skill is down. She has no negative status effects. She did have on a heavy armor that takes away five sneak, so I changed that and it did nothing. It’s been like this for a while. Anyone have any idea why?
Also, don’t mind my TV, for some reason it does this weird coloration at a times and looks a lot worse in pictures.

Outer worlds 2 dlcs

I know I’ve made a post similar to this before, but do we actually have any reliable information about release windows besides the steam achievements being made available?

[TOW2] Can you add De Vries outfit with a console command?

So, I’m planning to get the game soon, and I’ve been planning my character, looking through weapons and armor for what I’d want her to wear, and De Vries’s jacket is exactly the kind of outfit I’d want. But I don’t want to wait for nearly all of the main missions to get it. Can you get it earlier such as be using a console command?

On the outer worlds 2

There's alot to dislike about the second game, but 3 things are the ones that really grind my gears: number one, I can't think of anything to describe the new armor system except stupid. So the helmet just gives you a combat buff, and the armor just gives you armor? Stupid. 2 weapon progression is unintuitive because what do you mean it takes me this long to get a pistol that's full auto vs a pistol that is semi auto. By this time in the first game I would have had a heavy assault rifle and a shotgun ready to go. Like are they trying to take away our freedom? The original outer worlds had sort of a Skyrim/falloutesque sandbox freedom to it that the second one seems to have lost. It just feels like they found every way you could cheese the game in a fun way and slapped flex tape on it and called it a day. Main thing that gets me going? Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to take away the ships personality? Seriously? And it wasn't just unique to the unreliable, the hope had one too. They could have had a really cool niche quirk to this series that no other one has by making the ships sort of sentient, but now it's gone. I mean really that was so much of the fun of the first game, having ADA to talk shit in a sarcastic flat tone. But the second one doesn't feel humorous like the first one at all. And when it tries too, it just fails at it. Honorable mention is that they royally fucked up the skill system. I don't even need to explain it. Edit: downvoted this much? Didn't think this was that much of a hot take 😂😂😂

Well dressed trophy (spoilers for 1st game)

So I got the well dressed trophy, but at what cost?

Too great of a cost if you ask me

In my previous playthroughs I'd do the modeling then just forget about the quest.

But this playthrough I decided "you I will finish Celeste's quest, she's fantastic"

I'm so devastated! My character will never wear anything else but this chimera outfit!!! 😭😭😭😭

Wish OW2 had the respec machine

Basically the title. For context, I'm on my first playthrough of OW 2, and currently level 20. I've used all my skill points, but have since discovered that I need a whole bunch of points in speech and leadership if I really want to screw Auntie's Choice in the mission where you resolve the strike (which I do, because I hate Auntie Cleo passionately). It's too bad that OW2 only has one respec opportunity, and that it's literally at the beginning of the game.

Power Sub Station on Paradise Island

So, you need to either have taken Innovative or Nimble, or spec’d into Engineering or Sneak, to get the power back on. I realize that’s four paths to get this done, but my build doesn’t allow for any of these. What a bummer design choice.

I know I’m only really missing out on a couple of decryption keys, but still. I did take Pickpocket, so I didn’t have to blast homie for the Tossball Card in his pocket, which is nice, but now he’s just going to be standing outside of his house forever.
