Just started The Outer Worlds 2
How do I open a door with a mag pick? I’ve pressed every button on my controller and nothing has happened. Am I missing something or just need to level up my lock picking skill asap?

Got TOW 2 on sale from Best Buy just when the Photo Mode update for the game arrived. Genuienely love stopping and taking a photo in the games I play so much, hope you all like them!
Quick notes:
- I think I'm halfway through the game? Just got to the snow planet.
- Aspect ratio is cropped to 4:3 to mimic an IMAX ratio; the shots are framed to be interchangable with 21:9 & 16:9 as well. I find a lot of doing photos this way.
- I used Adobe Lightroom to edit the shots as well.
I am roughly 30 or so hours into TOW2. I have found The Silencer to be the best sniper so far but I am not that happy with the armour and helmet. Since I am getting closer to the end game.. what are some tips to make this a "1 shot to kill anything" type build?
Been avoiding tasks and side quests because they are boring but will go hunting for gear if I have some good leads.
I also don't know if I will find a better sniper rifle than the Silencer so I hope that I can mod it to make the weapon more fun.
Right now it takes 2-3 shots to take down mechs.
I am trying the most peaceful run, sparing as most NPCs as I can when I have the option.
But no matter how hard I try by savescumming, after successfully disabling the experiment & convincing the blabla anchoress to abandon her research, I still have to kill a batallion of the order after exiting the elevator. In the debrief with Marisol nothing of that slaughter comes up, despite me having her abandon her ways of stone cold killing in the line of quests before.
I feel cheated of a more peaceful option. Sneak out of the complex or something. It just sucks. And I am appalled of the cheap writing here.
Am I missing something or did they just f up this quest?
Edit: WTF is wrong with animosities in the comments. As if I do some filthy casual roleplaying style or something, or loving the easy Bethesda shit. I don't.
I just don't appreciate the game forcing an option unto me I never played for, unexpectedly. If you don't get that, you don't get it. FO1, FO2 F:NV did that better. All the BGs did that better. Heck, even Outer Worlds 1 did that better.
I wish they added romance options!!! I can't help it, Mass Effect conditioned me to have romance 😆🤣
Grubb addressed the Obsidian situation on the latest episode of his Game Mess Decides podcast, the tldr was that he checked with his sources and confirmed that at least at one point Obsidian was in the discussion to be shut down or sold. Seems like, according to him, the confusion stems from Xbox making decisions/changing their mind "within a 24 hour period" when in the past it would have taken weeks/months.

Xbox is looking to reallocate where it spends money. The company wants to invest in its big franchises, and to do that, it needs to cut from elsewhere. Studios such as Compulsion, Ninja Theory, Double Fine, Obsidian, Undead Labs and others are deep in negotiation with Microsoft to avoid closure. The impact of this will likely reverberate across the business.
I’ve only just started playing The Outer Worlds, but it really feels like Fallout in space to me.
You wake up as basically the only survivor from a lost colony, you’re this special person everyone is counting on, and you build up a crew of companions along the way. Even the dialogue, quests, and choices give me Fallout vibes.
I’m definitely not saying it’s a copy, but it has a lot of the same feeling. Anyone else think the same?
About to start a new playthrough dedicated to new game plus, but i need my first character
Interested in everyone's take on what the best ending is for TOW2? This could be for either individual planets/questlines or the game overall.
I'll admit, I struggle with this. I guess overall, the ending where the Order and AC ally, but then the Order takes over, would be best? But I'm not sure about that.
I have STRONG opinions about the best endings for TOW1, but not for TOW2. Curious what others think!
So my friend and I are going thru the OW2 radio songs and transcribing the lyrics on musixmatch so they'll show up on Spotify. However, there's a few spots in Do As Your Told that we're not sure about. Here's what we've got so far:
Wishes are worth less than nothing
To someone who wants for nought
Let the Caretaker's^(1) hand lead you daily
It is better for the betters and those who are not^(2)
Ideas are dangerous and can break you
And take you away from the role you'll play
Everything is grand and Paradigm^(3) planned
It's safe inside the mold so just do as you're told
Longings are dangerous and can crack you
And distract you from all your duties with haste
Let the Caretaker's hand lead you daily
It is better for the betters or else it's a waste
Everything is grand and Paradigm planned
It's safe inside the mold so just do as you're told
Watching and guiding
System abiding
Do not go sliding away
We're never hiding
They stay providing
Do as you're told and obey
Working and 'biding^(4)
Faithfully striding
Do not go gliding^(5) away
Thoughts are dividing
So they stay deciding
Just do as you're told and obey
1 Should Caretaker be capitalized
Points for: could be a shortened version of the Sovereign's full title (Protector of Arcadia and Caretaker of the Worlds, the Sovereign Henry Varick)
2 Is it 'not' or 'nought'
3 Should "Paradigm" be capitalized? 4 Is this what she says?
We're thinking its may be a shortening of abiding from the previous section. Or possibly just biding, as in biding time?
5 Is this what she says?
We both hear "bliding" but that's not a word, and "gliding" is sounds pretty close and makes sense in the context of the song. Perhaps "blighting", as in "don't be a blight on the Protectorate"?
Disclaimer: I (op) have not played ow/ow2 and am posting in behalf of my friend who has, but we listen to the music a bunch so I have a loose grasp on The Vibe of the factions, and may include their thoughts in some replies.

So, what would a good way be to do a run where you get every companion AND give them equal time allotment? I have other builds that dedicate one companion for a run, but this build utilizes every companion and does everything they can for them.
So I've started playing Outer Worlds 2 and the flaw kleptomania came up and I accepted. I know we can't reverse flaws and I don't want to start a new save. Is there any skills/perks that make this flaw less invasive? Like if theres something I can do to make this flaw not so antagonizing to the people around me? To reduce the negative reactions. Hope ya'll are able to help
First time playing the DLCs too 🔥 so good
Peril on gorgon and murder on eridanos are 10/10 btw
Started playing Outer Worlds 2 recently and I am roughly done with half the game now. The combat is fun after I got some cool weapons but the writing leaves a lot to be desired. The thing that stood out to me most though is the spaceship design.
Half way into the game and the only ship that looked even remotely cool is the ACS Undisputed Claim. By comparison the first game had The Unreliable which had way more character than the blue soap box looking thing that is The Incognito.
Why is it that Obsidian made a game set in space, with space ships, and then didn't bother to do anything with either of these? The game (TOW2) could very well be set on one planet and it would still feel the same.
There's so many good examples of spaceships like Normandy (Mass Effect), Rocinante (Expanse), Pillar of Autumn (Halo). Heck, even Starfield for all it's flaws did have some nice looking ships.
I just hope now that the second half of the game does more "space" stuff or atleast has more cool ships to see. (Fingers crossed).
