Fogo De Chão

Would anyone recommend this place to take a visitor from Mexico? He really loves meat and I want to give him an interesting experience.

First attendance to LibCon artist alley

I recently got accepted to be in an artist alley at LibCon on Thousand Oaks library. But I have no idea how busy it will be and how many items I should bring since its my very first time attending at any artist alley and I have a lot of work to do. It would be appreciated if anyone who went or attended there can give me some advice. Thank you! :)

Does anyone know what time the Janss Marketplace is handing out wristbands to get on the parking structure roof? I can’t find anything on their website or social media.

Few details were immediately available about the shooting, which happened at Los Robles Regional Medical Center near the intersection of Janns and Lynn roads.

Missed Connection at Jamba Juice. For the Woman with the Warmest Smile

I know posting this here may not lead to anything, but the yearner in me wanted to speak anyway.

Today I saw perhaps one of the cutest women I’ve ever seen…made even more beautiful by the warmth of her smile at Jamba Juice in Thousand Oaks, next to Philz Coffee.

I was working on my laptop when you pulled up in a white mini Chevrolet SUV. You stepped out with your curly hair, and for a brief moment our eyes met. Your smile felt so genuine, and there was something about your calm, safe presence that stayed with me long after you left. And it made me write this post…

To the universe and to Thousand Oaks, I hope our paths cross again, this time beyond a fleeting glance.

From a yearner.
A hopeless romantic.

Pet Rent around TO

I've been at my current residence for a few years and recently learned their pet fee is 75/mo per pet, regardless if it is a dog or cat. I don't remember them being so high when I first moved in to this place. It's absurd they charge as much for cats as dogs given they are less likely to scratch the floors or cause as much disturbance.

Anyways, wanted to know what it's like in other places around thousand oaks. ChatGPT suggests that 75/mo per pet is on the expensive side:

Fireworks from the car?

My in-laws just moved here and my FIL's mobility is challenged. Is there a good place for them to drive to and park so that they can watch some fireworks?

Need to donate blood once a week. Where can I go in Conejo Valley?

Need to donate blood once a week to get my iron down.

I did Red Cross a few weeks ago and they won't take me again for a couple of months at least.

Where else can I go? Google is not showing up much options.

I have the request from my doctor for the weekly draw. Doctor did not provide suggestions of where exactly I can go.

Edit: Biotex will draw it but it's $100 a go (no insurance) and they don't donate, which seems like a waste on both counts. Really would prefer to donate it (I'm healthy apart from the high iron).

City Council Unanimously Approves Disastrous, San Fernando Valley style 7 Story Downtown Project with No Commitment to Provide any Specific Amount of Parking Spaces. How many Thousand Oaks residents are willing to sign a petition to recall the entire City Council?

The City Council went through the motions to unanimously approve the most horrific building disaster in the history of Thousand Oaks. Have you driven the 101 through town lately? Traffic is bad, and this project will make it much worse, both on the 101 and on the surface streets. Mikey Taylor, Bob Engler, Al Adam, C. "Tie" Gutierrez and David Newman should be held accountable for their votes to destroy the quality of life that Thousand Oaks residents have enjoyed until now. How many of you are willing to sign a petition to recall these folks who are working hard to make Thousand Oaks into the San Fernando Valley?

Tires installed without hassles

I have tires needing mount, balance and alignment. Tire Rack confirmed the fit and shipped them to America's Tire, but they're 13mm over the computer recommended rim width, so it's "against policy" for America's to install them.

I know they'll work. It's only ~5% and a policy on a recommendation. Anybody know a place that will just do it? Maybe open this afternoon?

TIA.

Looking for advice closing the gap on a long-distance relationship and moving to Thousand Oaks! Any information about nearby science/engineering/physics employment and information about finding community would be fantastic!

Hi there!

I'm in a long-distance relationship dating a woman who lives in TO. I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Things in our relationship continue to be absolutely wonderful, and I'm starting to do some serious research about making a move to be with her.

I have a degree in electrical engineering, and I work as an experimental plasma shock physicist for a company that does materials science research for exoatmospheric spacecraft survivability. I travel to laboratories all over the country doing pulsed power science using some of the coolest facilities in the world, and I really love it! My normal commute to the office is a 15-minute singletrack mountain bike ride where my traffic is deer, coyotes, and the occasional bobcat. It's truly difficult to imagine a better gig. My dream is to be in the human space exploration industry, and I know that the LA area is a hub for all things space, which is a plus.

I have a community of like-minded coworkers (a little oasis of "blue" in a relatively red city) --we've gotten together and joined sports leagues, we host parties together, and groups of us have even gone on big backpacking trips together. After work today, about a dozen of us will play volleyball in a nearby park for our weekly Tuesday hangout. It's pretty great! How friendly are folks in the greater LA area? Is Thousand Oaks even considered the greater LA area? Is this kind of community easy to find or possible to create?

I'm nervous about finding a new job and community in or around TO, and I'd like to hear about your perspectives on the area. Any advice about companies to look into or even advice on bridging the long-distance gap would be really nice to read.

Roommate Needed 8/1 Thousand Oaks

Roommate wanted for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath at Arrive Thousand Oaks. My current roommate is moving to LA to be closer to family but I would like to stay. You would have your own room and bedroom. The apartment is pretty spacious and has high ceilings, and an updated kitchen. I've been here two years and the community is nice, pretty quiet, and well-located. We're close to the freeway and to shops, and walking distance from restaurants and bars. The pool/spa and gym are on the smaller side but very nice. Current rent is about $1750/person, but the complex offers new tenant discounts and is willing to negotiate, so we might be able to get a better deal. This would be a new lease with your name on it, not a sublease, with a move-in date of August 1.

I'm 41F, I work in town in accounting. I don't drink or smoke but don't mind if you do. I have a very friendly cat who loves people, but is scared of dogs and only so-so with other cats. I'm looking for a female roommate. I can take pictures if wanted, and can set up a time to meet and/or take a look at the unit too. If you have any questions, please reach out and I'll answer them.
