In need of beach bum friend!

Summer is approaching and I need to make some friends with people who love beach days!

Even better if you have a car, so we can explore more! Of course I'll chip in for gas!

Reach out if u...

-paddle board or want to try! i haven't done it but it looks fun

-want to swim in lakes and rivers

-love any beach but prefer more calm/not touristy beaches

-can spend hours at the beach and prefer to soak up all the daylight at the beach

Even if the beach isn't quite your thing, i'm always down for a museum day, simple park day (before the humidity hits lol), day trips, clubbing, & bar crawl/getting drinks and seeing where the night takes us

All night drinking tonight (5/18)

Broke up with my long term gf and looking for someone nice (volunteer) I can rant too. Near Ueno if anyone is down to play mother Teresa (and I’d happily listen to whatever rant you have)

My coping mechanism is humor so at least I’ll be EXTRA funny (and yes I’m already drunk)

🏀 Basketball Meetup at Shinagawa Ward Residents’ Park or Heiwajima Park

Looking for new friends live around Oimachi-Omori or Keikyu-line area to hoop with!
Date/Time is flex but I usually go hooping in the afternoon
All skill levels are welcome, including total beginners!

There are 3 🏀spots in these area

Shinagawa Ward Residents’ Park(しながわ区民公園):1 semi-full court, closed at 20:30
📍https://maps.app.goo.gl/u7yzQDYRDwLjeDDNA?g_st=ic

Heiwajima Park area(平和島公園): 5 half court / 2 separated spots , 1 is available 24/7 , the other closed at 17:00
📍https://maps.app.goo.gl/S8LPofCKmK8yw4Cm6?g_st=ic

There aren’t many pickup games at these courts as I know, so casual hooping is gonna be the thing, but of course we can run some games if there are enough people who want to play games

A little about myself:
I’m raised in Japan and I speak fluent Japanese, still working on my English but basic communication is not gonna be a problem.

So anyway, feel free to comment and let’s have some fun!

🚲 POTTERING MEETUPS GROUP📍Anywhere in the Greater Tokyo Area 🗓 On Weekends/weekdays ⚠️ Minivelo or folding bikes only

🤔 WHAT’S “POTTERING” ———————

In cycling, pottering (often referred to in Japan as potaringu or ポタリング) refers to a leisurely, aimless, and relaxed ride on a bicycle, similar to a "stroll" or a "putter" on two wheels. It is distinct from competitive cycling or high-intensity training, focusing instead on enjoying the surroundings, casual sightseeing, and maintaining a low-effort pace.

Key aspects of pottering in cycling include:

・Relaxed Pace: It involves riding slowly to enjoy the atmosphere, often with no time limit.

・Casual Purpose: It is often described as "cycling around," "strolling," or "exploring," rather than commuting or exercising.

・Flexibility: It allows riders to stop whenever they feel like it, making it ideal for sightseeing or photography.

・Japanese Context (ポタリング): The term is widely used in Japanese cycling culture to describe a leisurely, enjoyable ride, often on mini-velos (small-wheeled bikes) or folding bicycles.

In essence, pottering is about taking a comfortable, slow-paced bike ride to enjoy the journey, often for short, close-to-home excursions and visits of cafes/restaurants.

Cosplay, Akihabara Friday May 15

Hi everyone! My Japanese female friend and I are planning an indoor cosplay/model photoshoot in Akihabara this Friday, May 15.

She’s still new to modeling and wants to get more comfortable in front of the camera, so we thought it would be fun to connect with anyone who might like to join and take some photos and photos only.

The plan will be casual and friendly, mainly cosplay/model style photography indoors around Akihabara.

Thank you

Retro Game Hunting Meetup | Akihabara | Sunday May 10th | 12:00 to ~16:00

Hey everyone!

I’m a Spanish videogame programmer currently living in Tokyo. I’m really into retro gaming, sci-fi, Japanese culture, cinema and exploring cities on foot.

I’m planning to spend tomorrow (Sunday 10th) exploring several second-hand retro game shops around Akihabara, and thought it could be fun to turn it into a small meetup.

The idea is to spend around 3–4 hours browsing old games and consoles, discovering hidden gems, and just enjoying the area with fellow gaming nerds 😄

Honestly, I’m also just looking for some good company and conversation while enjoying this hobby.

You’re welcome whether you want to buy a lot, spend just a little, or simply come along to look around and hang out.

Feel free to bring friends too!

I speak Spanish and English, and I’m currently learning Japanese.

📍 Meeting point: Outside Radio Kaikan, near Akihabara Station
🕛 Time: Sunday 10th at 12:00

https://maps.app.goo.gl/UwmDtf8xangt67DW9

Feel free to stay as long as you want, no pressure at all, everyone is free to leave whenever they want.

🎱 Chill/Fun BILLIARDS MEETUP! 🗓 WEDNESDAY 13 ⌚️ From 20:00 to 22:00📍Ikebukuro 🤗 Great for beginners! ✅ 4 players booked already! 🇬🇧🇦🇺🇯🇵🇫🇷

🎱 This is a regularly occurring meetup! (once every two weeks). We’ve been enjoying this meetup during the last three years.

👥 We are super friendly, the core members are 🇬🇧 British, 🇦🇺 Australian, 🇯🇵 Japanese, 🇫🇷 French.

⚠️ THE CONCEPT——————————-

We play for fun only, nothing too serious. Almost no game rules either. Plenty of fun discussions around the table! 💬

Total beginners are welcome. Perfect for people who want to learn how to play, at their own pace, in a super laid back environment.

Tourists are also welcome.

Next player plays even if the previous one pocketed a ball so that everyone can play about the same amount of time. Because paying for just watching others play is no fun at all, right!? That’s peak cost/performance. 😍

We never invite our participants to other activities once the meetup is over, we never ask for private contact information, we have no other interest than playing billiards. Can’t be safer! 🫡

⌚️HOURS ——————————-

Starts around 20:00.

Ends around 22:00.

We all gather in front of the building before 20:00.

📍LOCATION ——————————-

“Rosa Kaikan”

(mostly non-smoking venue)

https://maps.app.goo.gl/AJnMKbDx64CEUrYs6

💴 COST ——————————-

1800 yen per person for the two hours. Drinks and food can also be ordered individually.

ℹ️ WEBSITE ——————————-

More information concerning the venue and the price can be found there:

http://www.billiards-rosa.com/

🙏 PLEASE ——————————-

Basic manners such as warning about late arrival or cancellation are clearly expected. We accept only decent and respectful people.

Comment below with your nationality only if you’re willing and able to join this meetup at the advertised date/time.

We absolutely don’t care about your age and gender so please don’t comment with that kind of information.

Do NOT turn up to our meetups without being previously accepted in the comments section!

Trip to take epic pictures

Looking to go on random adventures and take epic pictures, I don't have any particular place in mind as I'm new to Japan! I'm in my early twenties and am a guy, anyone is welcome! (I can't speak great Japanese yet but am trying)

u/SleepinSnail — 12 days ago

Someone mentioned to me they were reluctant to spend 3000 yen on an event not knowing if they'll like it so this time I am offering a live with free admission again.

Summary:

I am a solo traveler from the U.S., in Tokyo here for just a little while longer. I come to Japan a couple times a year mainly to attend idol concerts and festivals.

I’m usually fine going solo, but I’ve invited newcomers from tokyoirl a couple times before including this particular group and it’s always been a really fun experience.

If you’ve ever been curious about smaller “underground” idol events in Japan but felt hesitant because of language barriers, etiquette, or just not knowing what to expect, this is a good chance to try it out. I’m happy to help translate, explain how things work, and answer any questions along the way. I’ve been into Japanese idol groups (big and small) and used to follow K-pop quite a bit too, so we can talk about either.

No pressure at all—you’re free to join for as little or as long as you want.

Plan for May 9:

① Small live + meet & greet
11:00–14:00 at Shinjuku NINE Spices

  • Idol group ♮ReaScribe's 4th anniversary live
  • ~1 hour live performance + optional meet & greet with performers after
  • Cost: Free admission for first-time attendees
    • 1 drink minimum (~¥600–700, cash only, soft drinks, energy drinks, alcoholic options available)
  • Google Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MyViMfWLFiE2z8mk7

② Larger idol festival
15:00-22:00 at Shibuya RING

If you can’t make this Saturday but are interested, let me know. I go to one almost everyday.
