🚲 Join our POTTERING MEETUPS GROUP📍Anywhere in the Greater Tokyo Area 🗓 On Weekends/weekdays ⚠️ Minivelo or folding bikes only

🤔 WHAT’S “POTTERING” ———————

In cycling, pottering (often referred to in Japan as potaringu or ポタリング) refers to a leisurely, aimless, and relaxed ride on a bicycle, similar to a "stroll" or a "putter" on two wheels. It is distinct from competitive cycling or high-intensity training, focusing instead on enjoying the surroundings, casual sightseeing, and maintaining a low-effort pace.

Key aspects of pottering in cycling include:

・Relaxed Pace: It involves riding slowly to enjoy the atmosphere, often with no time limit.

・Casual Purpose: It is often described as "cycling around," "strolling," or "exploring," rather than commuting or exercising.

・Flexibility: It allows riders to stop whenever they feel like it, making it ideal for sightseeing or photography.

・Japanese Context (ポタリング): The term is widely used in Japanese cycling culture to describe a leisurely, enjoyable ride, often on mini-velos (small-wheeled bikes) or folding bicycles.

In essence, pottering is about taking a comfortable, slow-paced bike ride to enjoy the journey, often for short, close-to-home excursions and visits of cafes/restaurants.

🏓 HOW IT WORKS ———————

Once you join the group, you are expected to request a table reservation to me at your preferred time/date within a month. I will then make the reservation for you.

Beware that you will be removed from the group if :

・You don’t request a single reservation within a month after you first join the group.

・1200 yen for 90 minutes

・1600 yen for 120 minutes

Exchange a pair of “Flaneurz” rollers size 28.5 cm in very good condition + maintenance tools + two keys, against anything about the same value.

Very unique, you can’t find them in Japan as you need to order them from France at quite a prohibitive cost. I used them only during the Covid period.

Similar model for reference:
https://www.flaneurz.com/en/shop/detachable-roller-skates-veja-v-12-white-steel-8991?category=38#attribute\_values=1543,1192,1652,1645,3954,1884,4329

Photos are of current condition.

Comment with the following info:
- Your nationality
- What you’re willing to exchange against them.

The exchange can be done anytime anywhere in the greater Tokyo area.

How to create a three-in-one customizable bicycle bell for free on your iPhone

u/sports-are-fun — 3 months ago

I got a programmable bell for my bicycle where I can play AI text-to-speech audio randomly. What audio would most probably make any Japanese person laugh?

I want to make the experience fun and absolutely non-confrontational.
