Coop with an Academic Offense

One of my friends has had an academic offense on their unofficial transcript since last year, and it will be removed by the end of the year; they are currently allowed to apply for positions on the job listing.

However, they are nervous about whether they are even gonna get the interview because of it, since many companies often ask for a transcript when applying to a job

What advice do you give them?

Incoming grad student looking for a room

Hi r/unb!

Moving to Fredericton in June to start my Master’s at UNB, and looking for accommodation ASAP since the timeline is pretty short.

What I’m looking for:
• Within 10-15 min walk from campus (open to further if it’s a good option)
• Budget: $500-700/month - willing to stretch a bit for the right place
• Available from June
• Short-term sublets are totally fine
• Furnished preferred, but unfurnished works too
• Apartment or shared house both work

About me:
• 22M, CS grad student
• Clean, respectful, and easy to live with
• Into football, F1, and travelling
• Non-smoker, no drinking or drugs
• Muslim, respectful of all faiths and backgrounds
• Fine living with housemates of any gender
• Would love roommates who actually get along and hang out sometimes, not just coexist

If you have a room available, know of something, or are an incoming student looking to find a place together - feel free to DM me!

Thanks,

Residence Seeking or Roommate Matches - MSc ECE student, Fall 2026

>First Time to open a thread in such a friendly and lovely community. Say Hi to everyone!

Hi,

I am about to move to Fredericton, UNB, in September to pursue an MSc in ECE. Hence, it's time to find a nice residence near the campus for a 2-year stay.

First of all, I have a tight budget for rent, preferring under $1000 per month. Both an apartment and a shared house are acceptable.

But here are the requirements for my residence:

  1. near the campus, 15 minutes walking distance;
  2. safe and quiet (no parties/noise-making);
  3. able to cook at home (I love cooking!);
  4. friendly, responsible owners/landlords (easy to talk with);
  5. near the parks (A perk, just because I like exercising, workouts)
  6. ...

One more thing, let me introduce myself a bit:

  • asian male, 26, single, normal person, smoking, drinking, gaming, good hygiene;
  • love films & music & books, often quiet and easygoing, sometimes quick-witted and humorous;
  • been to several countries, have intercultural speaking skills, am always respectful, and no judging.
  • plan to go hiking on weekends (hope to find the local groups and make friends)

So, are there any recommendations for residence, folks?

If not, and you are one of the prospective UNB students like me, looking for accommodation as well, please feel free to PM me with a brief introduction. I will touch base later. Let's go find our residence together.

Best Regards,

Grad list

Does anyone know if there is any other way to know if I’ll be graduating before the list is released on Friday?

I know it’s just two days. My anxiety is killing me; I can’t even sleep. I’ve double and triple checked all of my courses and credits. I’ve been accepted to a Master’s program for the fall at UNB and I keep worrying that I messed something up. I’m so worried I’m going to have missed a course and not be able to graduate.

How good is UNB's gym in your opinion?

Do you think a gym membership is worth it for a UNB student or is the uni's gym sufficient?

am i missing out on a lot by skipping residence?

Hi everyone, I am an international student going to UNBF for the fall intake! :) I've heard that living your first year in residence adds to your experience in campus or uni life in general (+making friends). Living off-campus is more affordable for me, so I'm gonna be living at an apt a 15 min walk away from campus. Am i missing out on a lot?

Confused between MoM Data Analytics at University of Windsor and MBA New Brunswick. Could anyone please suggest which is better in today's market. I already have a BTech CSE and MTech Data Science in India.

UNB Science Student vs. The Spotify Paywall: Help People Find my Music

I’m a science student at UNB. I made a jazz track called "Just Ignore Me." CHSR 97.9 wants to play it, but I’m currently invisible on Shazam/Spotify because I can't afford the $25 distributor fee.

The Experiment: I’m trying to prove my music is "profitable" before I invest. I’ve put the vocal and instrumental tracks on Bandcamp for $2.50.

The Goal: If 10 people from Fredericton buy the track, I’ll have exactly enough to pay for DistroKid so people can actually find me when they hear me on the air.

Even if you can’t support financially, I’d love a listen. I’m trying to go from "below underground" to official. Thanks, neighbors!

First year DAL engineering student thinking to move to UNB

Hey everyone, just looking a peice of advice of someone who did UNB engineering program.

For context, I am mature student at Dal working in fiber design (work from home) working towards my Bachelor. I have completed my first year at Dal and thinking to move to UNB just because of the fact that Dal seems money grabber to me and EE program is not very flexible.

I do have a lot of support at DAL (lab reports and assignments) from people I know who graduated from Dal.

UNB EE program seems more reasonable and overall fee per year is like 3-4k difference. Also rent is higher in Halifax as compared to Fredericton.

Yes I would save some money in long run but just would like to know about the program.
