Driver just leaving the truck for workers to load

Hey, Ive been working at a ups store for a few months, I noticed some of my coworkers complain about a driver who just leaves his truck for them to load ( out manager makes them load the truck in some days where its a lot of boxes, or the driver is alone).

I keep telling them to just refuse because they are minors and not getting paid enough to do that. My question is , can I report the driver? Or is this normal behavior?

Coworker REEKS

We just hired a new guy a few weeks ago. He REEKS. Like smells insanely bad. It's a such a layered scent, with base notes of stale animal piss, B.O. and unwashed scalp. Top notes include mildew and unbrushed teeth with some crappy body spray to even everything out. Seriously, this guy has some of the worst hygiene I've ever seen. And I'm seriously not trying to be mean but I'm at my wit's end. I've talked to management about it and I know some of my other coworkers have too. Nothing has been done but the smell is STRONG. He also frequently comes into work sick and coughs/sneezes without covering. He does this nasty thing where he wipes his nose with his HAND!! What's worse is management only hired this guy because they're friends, so it's even harder and more awkward for them to talk to him about it. I'd say something to him myself but I'm just an associate and don't want to be a jerk to this guy but GOD. His hair is literally so greasy he'll tie it up and it'll KEEP ITS SHAPE. One of my coworkers told her friend about this new gross guy she worked with and her friend came into the store and IMMEDIATELY clocked who it was. He's genuinely so unpleasant to work with, even speaking in terms of work ethic and politeness towards me. I've been at this store for 3 years and he doesn't listen to anything I say training-wise and is rude and dismissive when I make suggestions or give constructive criticism that I HAVE TO MAKE or else he does THE WHOLE SHIPMENT WRONG. Sometimes he talks over me when a customer asks me a question and he'll tell them the wrong thing!! I have no idea how this guy got hired but I want him gone immediately.

Fiserv Machines

Has anyone set up their fiserv machines yet? Curious if it’s an upgrade to our current systems. We’re supposed to receive ours tomorrow but I won’t be working so just curious if anyone has any insight on if it’s actually an improvement. The one thing I’m hoping and praying for is either touchscreen or something that’s more user friendly because if I don’t have to instruct customers how to click a button i’ll be happy 🤣

GSR view

Is there a way to see if a GSR has been fulfilled? For next day. I’m always told there is but haven’t found a way to see so. I know we get emails for 2nd and 3rd day but just didn’t know for next day!

UPS seized a package that was shipped from my store but it did not contain any restricted commodities

We shipped a package for a regular customer at my store and UPS seized one of their packages. The problem is that we packed it for them and it’s just a hoodie that they sent out. What do I do now from this point on? Are we just short out of luck? The customer is obviously upset and we don’t know what to tell them

New Credit Card Machines

We were supposed to transition to the new Credit Card company Fiserv with new machines today, but we never got our machines. We also never got any notice this was happening, what to do, or any instructions or information. Don’t you have to set up an account with a new credit card vendor before you change over so your charges go into your bank account?? ffs, Corporate is so unorganized and unprofessional. No one seems to know anything. Frustration level 10.

Stressed out

This job is wearing me out day by day. It used to be an easy enjoyable job but our new owner has made it miserable. It was very noticeable this sunday especially when usually I work with another coworker and not the owner, however we’re down to 2 total employees (3 including a new hire in training) and it’s unbearable.

I’ll usually have time to chill on sundays and sit in the back and watch stuff on my phone in between customers but today I wasn’t even able to sit down once. I’m constantly bagging amazon returns (we don’t even have a kiosk) and my owner decides he will gladly help the customers and that’s about it from him. He won’t consolidate, he won’t bag returns, and he won’t put RFID labels on any packages. He simply takes the returns and throws them on the back counter then does literally anything else. This goes for pack jobs as well and it’s killing me when my entire shift consists of helping these absolute idiots and then in between having to bag the millions of returns sitting on the back counter until another idiot walks in.

Our old owner used to have herself on the schedule for a few hours to get what she needs done and then have 2 others scheduled at the same time to handle returns and shipments but I guess our new owner wants to save on the labor as much as possible and it has driven at least 3 people to quit now (one within 1 week of being hired). Anyways thanks for coming to my weekly vent on here i’m just exhausted and needed to vent my frustrations somewhere.

Sunday Surprise

I usually work both weekend days alone at my store; I don't usually have weekend plans or anything, so I really don't mind it. Saturdays occasionally suck, but Sunday is a short, usually easy day, so I'm pretty happy with it.

Anyways, there's a few older ladies who usually come in on the weekends, and today one of them handed me a card after her returns today. "Thank you so much for being so helpful, I'd never be able to do this myself if you hadn't helped me before" she says. I didn't have a moment to open it until after she had left, and inside is a $100 MasterCard gift card. Needless to say I'm pretty shocked, definitely going to have to send her a thank you card.

Custom packaging.

Looking for some help with custom packaging. I packaged some china yesterday in a 20 cubed, charged Custom but still felt with all the energy and materials I used I should got more than $36 including the box. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Last Saturday went out with a bang

I worked my last Saturday today after deciding I was done doing it. Today did not disappoint as being one of the most exhausting shifts I have ever worked.

The morning was super slow, we were just chilling out, talking, eating, occasionally a customer came in. Felt like a normal Saturday… until it wasn’t.

Around 1pm this guy calls about trying to stop a package that he dropped off at our store because he got scammed like 3 days ago. I tried to help him out because I know customer service sucks. I was unable to help him myself and just gave him the number. Around 3:30 he comes back in to get my help with it. I try signing him up for ups my choice but it’s getting overly complicated and I don’t want to get blamed for signing him up for a monthly subscription so I tell him to contact customer service and tell them exactly what he wants them to do. This conversation took like 45 minutes while the store is flooded with rando customers.

Meanwhile the trainee takes a customer who is planning on sending about 10 NDA irregular shipping crates of various sizes and weights, the lightest being 35lbs and several reaching over 100lbs. Eventually when I clear out the store of all the customers (which there was a line to the door of), I decide to take over this shipping job since i didnt have much confidence in my coworker since she’s new. All of these shipments took like 1 hour to do and my coworker is trying to deal with all the customers by herself. To this guys credit he was an awesome customer, but it was a real pain in the butt. Eventually we end up finishing that at almost exactly closing (totaled like $10k btw). The store at this point is completely full of customers and my poor coworker who had been trying to keep up had been putting all of the packages incomplete on the table.

Once we clear all the customers out who had been coming in after closing even after we turned off the open sign, it was like 5:10. We spent a good 40 minutes after that trying to finish everything up and close, and had to skip several tasks we needed to do just to get out of there.

Plus, the cherry on top is some idiot put a medical device in a package in the kiosk that beeped like every 10 seconds for all of closing.

We didn’t have to deal with many angry customers, maybe except one, but it was just an incredibly painful 2 hours being stuck alone with the trainee.

Error when ordering supplies on UPS.com

Every time I try to order supplies on UPS.com I get an error code "Based on the information provided, UPS cannot process your supplies order. If you feel this message was provided in error, please contact UPS at (phone number). The phone number is a voicemail box that I have left messages at several times for months and not received a callback.

I have checked that I am logged in and our store's shipper number is displayed properly. It happens no matter what I try to order, even a single package of NDA envelopes. I have been calling Preferred to order my supplies, but it takes FOREVER and they always tell me that I can just order on UPS.com 🙄 I spent half a day at one point with Preferred being transferred from place to place only to be told the only solution was the voicemail number. Is anybody else having this problem? Has anybody solved it?

UPS Store managers — what are you making per hour?

I’m currently a manager at a The UPS Store location in Ohio, and I’m trying to get a better idea of what managers at other stores are actually being paid.

I know every franchisee/store is different, but I’ve recently had some conversations that made me question whether my current pay is in line with what the position normally pays.

For other store managers, if you’re comfortable sharing:

What state/area are you in?

What do you make hourly or salary?

How busy/high-volume is your store?

What are you actually responsible for as manager?

How long have you been with TUPSS?

Do you get any bonuses, PTO, benefits, etc.?

I handle things like scheduling, training/hiring employees, day-to-day store operations, customer issues/claims, ordering supplies, print jobs, equipment issues, and generally keeping the store running.

Mostly just trying to figure out what the realistic pay range is for someone actually running a store, rather than just going off Indeed/Glassdoor estimates.

Appreciate any input, especially from current or former TUPSS managers.

Burnt Out

I’ve worked almost every saturday, except maybe 4-5 since starting working here back in September 2025. I’m really getting tired of how much work is involved in working Saturday shifts at my store, especially when my boss dumps a trainee on me and it’s even more work than just working alone. I’m just tired of doing it and I’m probably going to ask to be done. I believe I have served my duty and will be retiring so I can have my life back so I can do something on the weekends.

Exhausted

Working a 12 hour shift today and I’m so exhausted and tired of this place. The people are wonderful, but the customers are just dumb as rocks.

“Yea I have this fedex package going back as a return”

“We don’t accept fedex”

“Really?? google said you do”

😐 Even ai overview doesn’t say we accept fedex packages if you look it up so i have no clue where these people get that from

Anyways a customer right after that:

“Yea I have this and it needs some tape”

“Okay that’s fine just make sure you have it all taped up next time”

“Well I don’t have any tape 😃”

Actually just blows my mind how stupid and entitled these customers are. Don’t even get me started on the idiots who try and argue with us about when they have multiple customer packed boxes under 1 qr code/label.

Another Lunatic

Maybe the one of the least IQ customer interactions I’ve witnessed happened the other day.

My coworker took a customer who was very nice and was shipping a package for somebody she knew. The person who was paying for the shipping had no idea what the cost was gonna be so gave her like $3 or something. My coworker told her that she needed to package it which would be like a $3 polybag and shipping was going to be like $15 for ground.

The lady calls her friend to ask for money and this is where the comically stupid scenario begins.

The lady picks up and sounds like a chain smoker who has just woken up. Her voice is so ridiculous that everyone, including the lady that was shipping for her was having a hard time not laughing. She was completely baffled by the cost of shipping. She explains how she only has like $6 to her name and can’t afford the shipping (I mean that’s real broke). She starts cussing and crashing out. Eventually she declines shipping but she still wants the bag. My coworker explains the bag is $3. She starts cussing him out about not giving her the bag for free since it’s only $3. My coworker even puts a 15% discount on it and she still is crashing out. Eventually the lady shipping who is amused by the situation just hangs up the phone and leaves the store.

Truly an outrageous customer experience. Not so much the stupidity of this lady on the phone, but just how her anger is so muffled by how ridiculous she sounds lol.

Converting a UPS Access Point to a UPS Store

I own a private pack and ship store, we’re a UPS access point. The business has been operating since the 80s, has a great location, existing mailbox customers as well.

I would like to convert this to a full UPS store or a smaller one, how would that work if possible? Has anyone pulled this off before?

Idiots don’t understand how franchises operate

Recently the number of people who come or call the store with issues for corporate has been astronomical. Has this been the case for other stores? These people have a problem with a package that wasn’t shipped from or to our store and they decide to call us, sometimes when we aren’t even local to them. What is going on…

Again…Amazon can’t afford to compensate us properly…

The UPS Store is basically Amazon Customer Service, yet they refuse to compensate us properly. We continue to get disrespected and not compensated by a company that has no problem doing so. The 4th richest person in the world, yet he’s okay knowing his company takes advantage of us.
