Vb 7.2.8 and CachyOs

I just installed CachyOs on VB.2.8 and applied Guest Additions. When I rebooted, I get past the CachyOs screen and it goes to a black scree. Thinking it has something to do with the video setting I tried all options. What finally worked was to select cachy-linux-lts.

Was wondering if anyone else has run into this situation.

Thanks

Question about VM performance

so this is going to be quite laughable. i have a laptop that is quite an odd one, as i use it for video games and especially intensive ones often requiring 16 CPU’s and 16-24gb ram minimum. the issue here is, that i have less than 6 gigabytes of ram, 8 CPU’s (or whatever the correct term is) and 475gb of storage, 81gb free. my OS is windows 11 (the best of the best) so as a given i never have more than 1 gb of ram available to use, but certain programs like these large games can force themselves and my computer to use 2gb on its own. with virtualbox 7.2.6, I primarily use Windows 8.1 Pro as a guest OS, and I want to allocate more space to it so I can run small online indie games just to feel peace of mind with virus issues I’ve had in the past (many years ago and I’m smarter now, the virus i dealt with was actually due to extreme stupidity, not really any risk i just ignore). I’ve allocated 15gb disk space (which I’ve heard i should increase drastically), 3.6gb of ram to it, which “works”, I’ve experimented with CPU’s from 4 to all 8 running at 100% processing cap, and video memory at 256mb with 3d acceleration. I’ve never been able to use my vm for more than instagram which is cool but I can’t even use YouTube or navigate in browsers efficiently at all. what seems to be the problem? if there’s any information i should give out, just let me know and I’ll probably find it. if you didn’t know or if it matters, guest OS is 64-bit, too.

USB device not working after moving from MacOS host to Ubuntu host

So I moved a Windows XP guest from a MacOS host to an Ubuntu 26.04 host on a new computer and now I can’t get a USB device to work (ROM programmer). It used to work perfectly when the host was MacOS. I made a USB filter for it and it and VirtualBox sees it and it’s enabled in the VM. It’s also shown in the Device Manager in the Windows XP guest, but yet the associated software doesn’t see it. Anyone know what I may be missing here? Is Ubuntu not letting the VM take control of the hardware? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Edit: I have latest guest additions and extension pack installed. Running VirtualBox 7.2.6.
