Do you or have you ever tried to keep up with the wow lore after warcraft 3 and if u do how does it compare to it?

I personally tried to at some points but im pretty sure most of the warcraft 3 characters are dead now so i don't even care about wow lore :/

I don't know what happens

Does anyone know why the custom campaign, tides of darkness, look like this and how to fix it?

Getting unexplainable high ping? Check your mouse polling rate.

Been trying to play Custom Games with a friend of mine for the past few days, but certain customs would make their ping spike more than others.

We noticed that the ping would climb higher and higher the more they moved their mouse around, scaling infinitely.

Turns out, it was a polling rate issue. Fancy gaming mice today can apparently go up to about 8000hz. The lowest their mice could go was 1000hz, which didn't fix the issue entirely, but limited it from ping scaling infinitely to ~100ms or so.

If you're experiencing unexplainable ping issues, try lowering your mouse polling rate.

Did they change matchmaking for 4v4?

I play a lot of 4v4 and over the last couple of days I've noticed more and more super high level (5000+) players in the games.

I'm shit, and these guys just destroy whoever they are matched near. Did they change matchmaking in some way?

I was so obsessed about winning that I would use fringe strategies to fuck over my opponents

I would often build 4 Ancients of War mid-game and use them to eat all the trees on the enemy side of the map to be able to win late-game and make sure my APM would reach 500 or higher.

This post was made to hurt everyone who plays with human

moon (currently the fourth best NE player) organized a tournament against the top 5 human players of the moment: forti, sok, starbuck, leon and chaemiko. He finished 25-1.

That same week he was dropped into the 3 Pesants Tower Rush, meaning he would lose against a random player from Battlenet https://youtu.be/00N0lfqay5o?si=z2n3TfPXATSfRsYg

What are the things that make you not enjoy PvP?

Atm I focus on PvP in warcraft 3 and starcraft 2. I made a thread before asking about skirmish vs AI compared to other ways to play. A lot of people that responded viewed PvP as too much stress and hate having to always do meta builds.

My question broken down into more detail:

- Why do you feel you have to play meta? Often people forget that the meta is based on what most players consider the most consistent performing way to play. That doesn't stop you from trying other strategies. Meta's change all the time even without balance patches.

- Getting rushed/harassed early on is a complaint I hear often. But if there is no possibility to rush, then every game is just the FFA playstyle of "build up for 30+min and then A move". That would get stale after awhile. Instead of hating rushing why not adjust your strategy to punish rush/harass?

Things that make me not enjoy PvP at times:

Seeing the same strategies over and over again. I love WC3 with all my heart, it was the first RTS I played and got me hooked into the genre and blizzard in general. But for the love of god, I'm tired of seeing "hero harass->fast tech->pray tech wins" every god damn game. The more I see this, the more it feels like tier 1 doesn't even exist.

I see it a lot when I watch some B2W vods. I see it the most when just playing ladder, whether its w3c ladder or bnet ladder. Its at the point now where if I see a thumbnail for a vod and I see BM, DH or DK first, I look for another vod.

Then there's artificial skill checks. I understand that skill expression is a huge part of the game, especially PvP games. I play fighting games a lot so I get it. But some checks in RTS just feel artificial. For example, starcraft 2 is often talked about as if its a macro game. Honestly it feels like a micro game.

Stimming marines and marauders so they can deal optimal damage. Boosting medivacs for optimal drop timings. Hitting inject timings with queens with 5+ bases. Things like that make me wonder "did they think players (not just PvP players) would enjoy executing this or did they think it would be better for esports viewership?"

Redoubt, Where are you?

TL;DR: I’m trying to find Redoubt, the modder who made the old Warcraft 3 custom map Naval Combat, just to say thanks. I’m in my 40s now and we still played it at a LAN in Darwin last weekend. It was a massive hit, and I’d love them to know how much joy that map brought people over the years.

Bit of a long shot, but I’m trying to find the person who made the old Warcraft 3 custom map Naval Combat, or anyone who knows who they are.

The creator/modder name I remember is Redoubt.

I’m in my 40s now, and I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the games that shaped the best parts of growing up with mates. Not the big polished games with marketing budgets, but the weird custom stuff that somehow became legendary because someone made it for the love of it.

Back in the day, LANs were everything. Lugging your heavy PC around, CRT monitors, network issues, someone always forgetting a cable, folders full of patches, dodgy installs, and then finally everyone gets in and the room just comes alive.

We played all the usual stuff over the years. Counter-Strike, Battlefield, Warcraft 3, StarCraft, TrackMania, Team Fortress, all of it. But for whatever reason, Warcraft 3 Naval Combat stuck with us.

It was such a simple idea but it just worked. Ships auto-firing, everyone trying to focus fire, buying upgrades, stacking repair crews, armour, abilities, nukes, branching into different roles, and then the whole match turning into complete chaos. It was funny, competitive, stupid, and brilliant all at once.

Last weekend we ran a local LAN again, and we put Naval Combat on the list mostly for nostalgia.

It absolutely went off.

A bunch of grown adults, some of us with kids now, sitting around playing this old Warcraft 3 custom map like no time had passed. People who had never played it before got sucked in straight away. The old players were yelling instructions like it was 2004 again. It was honestly one of the highlights of the whole event.

And it made me realise that whoever Redoubt is, they probably have no idea how much joy that map brought people.

Not just once, either. For years.

Across LANs, friendships, dumb rivalries, late nights, terrible snacks, and all the little memories that somehow stick with you more than the “proper” games do.

So yeah, I’d really love to track them down just to say thanks.

No weird request, no money thing, no drama. I just want to tell them that something they made years ago still got played at a LAN in Darwin in 2026, and it still absolutely slapped.

If anyone knows Redoubt, or has any old Warcraft 3 custom map community links, forums, Discords, archives, or anything that might help track them down, please let me know.

Redoubt, if you ever see this: thank you. You made something that lasted way longer than you probably ever expected.

Happy is a genius

Happy applies what we've learned about economics and playing in extreme scenarios to his own practices. This guy has 2700 ranked games on Battle.net, he boycotted all other ladders, and he's never been as dominant as he is today.

NE: Is it more efficient to heal directly with Moon Wells instead of refilling mana to Bears+Rejuv?

I've instinctively felt it's better to replenish mana to Druids of the Claw, then cast Rejuvenation on wounded units (more actions = harder = should be more efficient).

But the math doesn't check out. Liqupedia says:

Life 0.5 Mana per restored Hit Point
Mana 2 Mana per restored Mana

Rejuv heals for 400 hit points and costs 125 mana. So filling DotC's mana would drain 250 moon juice, while directly healing 400 hit points would only drain 200 and is faster.

Am I missing something?

Warcraft 3 Custom Map

Hi to everyone, i hope someone can find this or at least knows what I'm trying to find.

So it's a custom map where you can play as ANY character you want, especially unplayable characters like a boss character (Cenarius, Mannaroth, or even Archimond), it's like a snow map, you start with like a wisp(?) and you can go to a circle Infront of a character you want to play as, as far as I remember, there's like a giant kil'jaden boss at the other side of the map, and it's like a Tower defense game-ish? There's bunch of enemies that will attack your side, but there's also allied troops that spawn to your aid,

Im still thinking about this custom map FOR YEARS till now, and I can't get it out my head, I've been trying to find it ever since but I really can't find it, I played it when I was a kid and I fell inlove with it because I got to play as Archimond, and all his abilities were 1 to 1 to the boss you need to defeat on the campaign mission, and I loved playing as a boss character.

That custom game came with the CD of warcraft my uncle used to have, but of course, that was years ago, so it's gone now.

I really hope someone in this world knows what I'm talking about and can put me to rest by either giving the name of that custom map or knows what I'm talking about:'>

Incorrect colors in Warcraft 3 Reforged with Quenching Mod

Hi, I've been trying to install the Quenching mod for Warcraft 3 R for a while now, but I always run into the problem that the colors look terrible. It doesn't matter what version of Warcraft I have (currently 2.0.4) or the Quenching mod (3.2), it always looks bad.

I've reinstalled both the game and the mod many times, and I know that my antivirus doesn't delete any game files, so missing files aren't the problem either.

The classic and reforged graphics look fine, but when I enable Quenching, it looks awful.

I'm sharing the current quenching settings and how the color error looks in the game.
