Sphere Grid and other progression systems are immaculate [Game Design]

The entire system is very well constructed, I always enjoy flexible progression systems. FFX has always been one of my favorite games all around with all of its mechanics and systems to play around with. (FF2, 5 ,6, 7, 8 and tactics each did this quite well too)

The simple fact that it fits alongside the pilgrimage, you're choosing the journey of each party member's job/stats, gaining small benefits that acrue into a semi-personalized character for your playthrough is really fun. Its nice that there's also a more clear/intended path for each character to inheritly go down for a simplified streamlined experience

Its also nice that you can make several decisions early to midway through the game when you unlock lv1 & 2 key spheres and teleport/return spheres to either get additional stats on the main path, or branch into another character's path to create hybrid jobs

The game even giving you a designated grinding spot that rewards your combat exploration to lower the amount of unnecessary travel time between grinding, going an extra step and rewarding you for filling out the Pokedex along the way

Then there's Blitzball and other minigames, a way to step away from the core loop and still stay immersed in Spira, while getting additional benefits for your activities (Weapons, Spheres, Overdrives, etc..)

I could go on for days about all the small details from Monster's having unique qualities favoring party members, the encouragement to explore the 'linear' world, the available equipment grinding/customization, Aeon's having unique qualities

TLDR Final Fantasy 10's progression systems are masterclass and need to be re-explored, the game does everything to reward you for playing around

Phyrexian Mana and X Spells casting cost for Triggered Abilities reliant on Mana Value

The specific instance that I'm wondering about is..

If [[T'Challa, the Black Panther]] is on board and I cast [[Birthing Pod]] using the phyrexian mana, does that change the casting cost of Birthing Pod to 3 when it goes onto the stack because I only used 3 mana? Or does paying 2 life substitution for mana still allow it to retain its 4 mana value?

In addition, I just want clarification on X spells or Kicker spells, if [[Everflowing Chalice]] is cast Multikicked for 4+ mana or [[Marketback Walker]] is cast with X = 2? Does T'Challa simply only care if a spell is an artifact and enters the stack casted by using 4 or more mana?

Domain/Barrier Applications

Ive had a few ideas for ways to configure Barriers and Simple Domain

Equipable Barrier Technique:

The user opens a small malleable veil that can be worn as armor or used as a weapon. with multiple vows

  1. Remove the structural integrity of the internal barrier to reinforce the barrier externally

  1. Barrier is localized to the user and must remain in contact with the user

  1. The barrier can only ever be partially manifested (never enclosed) in exchange to be able be reshaped with additional CE output

Basic Domain Expansion Application : Teleportation

Since domain coordinates can be changed, I wonder how far a Sorcerer can technically teleport via DE. Doesn't Hakari technically have an infinite teleportation circle?

Simple Domain : Pause

Since Simple Domains can seemingly near instantly detect anything within their afflicted area and can be programmed to functionally modify parameters. Id find it interesting to use a simple domain to transmit the knowledge of everything happening around me at that moment, creating a moment of complete understanding of your surroundings. Perfect knowledge of the environment at a moment's notice.

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts and if you've come up with ways to use Barriers, Domain Expansions and Simple Domain in different ways

Wakandan Technology Is Quite Advanced

I've been considering making a Big Mana deck, and I haven't built an Artifacts deck. At the perfect time [[T'Challa, the Black Panther]] commander precon is coming out! I decided to try to build around Vibranium's Mana Production to cast expensive Artifacts earlier than usual with the added benefit of +1/+1 counters as the subtheme.

Here's the deck list that I am currently working on!

Any feedback or card suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Rakdos Big Mana

Decklist : https://archidekt.com/decks/23090602/painting\_pictures\_four\_you

I got the general deck idea inspired from Sulubrious Snail's Radha deck

The mana curve is completely atrocious by design

The idea is that every game i can just play Kalain turn 2 as ramp to consistently have 4 mana on turn 3. Using that 4 mana to ramp further to gain a massive early mana advantage by getting to 6 mana consistently on turn 4 to start casting big spells every turn while everyone is developing

Are there any big exciting cards (ideally 5-6 mana or X cost) that I should be putting into the deck?

OFA Lemillion vs Shigiraki

If All Might chose Lemillion as he originally intended, could he have ended Shigiraki in the war? If not, would he have been capable of ending AFO's plans prematurely?

Would the world have been ruined had All Might not changed his successor?

Composite Overhaul vs League of Villains

Composite Overhaul has all of the Quirks of the Eight Bullets

Rampa's Strongarm, Rikiya's Energy Suck, Soramitsu's Food, Yu's Crystalize, Hekiji's Barrier and Deidoro's Slosh

(For all intensive purposes, Confession let's Overhaul know which Twice is the original and Larceny steals Compress' marbles and Toga's Blood Vials)

Villains being from the Gigantomachia Training / Liberation Arc

How far does Overhaul make it through the League?

R1 : Toga

R2: Spinner

R3: Mr Compress

R4: Toga, Spinner & Compress

R5: Twice, Sad Man Parade (Only Twices)

R6: Toga, Spinner, Compress, Twice (Can Clone Teammates)

R7: Awakened Shigiraki

R8: Dabi (No Nuke, No Phosphor)

R9: Full League

R10: Gigantomachia

R1 : Life Support AFO & Shigiraki (quirkless)

R2: Life Support AFO & 'complete' Shigiraki

R3 : Benjamin Button AFO & Shigiraki

R4 : All Might gets the other One for All quirks

Rematch : Teacher Vs Student

Given the same Win Condtions as the Teacher vs Students exercise (All Might doesn't have any restrictions, no cuffs)

Could Final War Arc Deku (w Gearshift) with Bakugo (Strafe Panzer + Quirk Awakening + Clusters) beat/escape Prime All Might?

Class 1-A (Final War) vs High End Nomus

Deku is not allowed to be a participant, Bakugo is optional

Round 1 : Class 1-A vs USJ Nomu

Round 2 : Class 1-A vs Hood

For rounds 1 & 2, Monoma only has access to his classmates quirks but he can start with any 3 piece combination

Round 3 : Class 1-A vs Both Nomu

Monoma can start with Erasure and Warp Gate and 1 other quirk from the class

Can Class 1-A beat a high end Nomu? Both?

Can they do it without Bakugo?

Persist + ETB + Leaves GY Timing

Does this work how I think it works?
The example is [[Fell Stinger]] entering on my board where I have [[Thran Vigil]] & [[Isullu, Carrier of Twilight]] in play

When Fell Stinger enters, exploit goes on the stack, sacrificing itself as it resolves

Persist trigger then goes onto the stack, resolves, bringing Fell Stinger back to the battlefield (not sure if Thran also goes onto the stack at this instance)

Does:

a) Thran Vigil goes onto the stack first because Fell Stinger left the GY an instance before entering causing Exploit to be the first trigger to resolve, resulting in 2 Stinger triggers total, infinite with a Sac Outlet
b) Thran & Exploit triggers can be stacked however I want to since I own both sources and the exiting of the GY is the same timing instance as entering the battlefield, goes infinite as is

Persist is a Mechanic of All Time

Eirdu / Isilu is pretty nutty with all of the rediculous things that Persist enables

Decklist : https://archidekt.com/decks/22420099/unfairytales

Any Creature that enters WITH +1/+1 counters, a Sac Outlet, and a Blood Artist effect becomes an easily assembled wincon

The backup plan is Midrange of medium/big creatures + persist to generate more generic value out of each creature

I've opted into condensing the Combo package as much as I feasibly can by overlapping the targets between tutors [[Dimir House Guard]] [[Recruiter of the Guard]] & [[Moon-Blessed Cleric]] (Each can Tutor for ½ cards in each category of the combo)

This leads to more deckbuilding space for other tools throughout the deck for curving out and more cohesive synergies

Before playing [[Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn]] I'm looking to have 1-2 other creatures in play and ideally a piece of Protection in hand which all need to be able to be Convoked, to be able to play Eirdu as early as possible

Suggestions for how i can further improve consistency and cohesion throughout the deck?

With Persist, can [[Ao, The Dawn Sky]] stack the triggers so that Persist happens first then Ao gives itself +1/+1?

Vizier With Persist

If [[Vizier of Remedies]] has Persist on it from an effect like [[Rhys, the Evermore]] would Vizier's replacement effect apply to itself when it enters from the graveyard?

▲ 134 r/EDHBrews

I feel like this is a bit of a rediculous 2 card combo that potentially locks the 3 other players out of the game by turn 4 if played on curve, and you can just wait until the end step before your turn 4 to flash in agent

Turn 3 or sooner if any fast mana is in hand [[Dark Ritual]] or [[Culling The Weak]] or [[Lotus Petal] etc..

Gets around [[Rhystic Study]] [[Mystic Remora]] and [[Orcish Bowmaster]]

Verse Equalization is generally done in good faith with the intent of being able to have the characters interact, usually in situations where they otherwise wouldn't be able to so that we can have interesting discussions

Ex. Jujutsu Kaisen, Curses are invisible to most people, so people generally make them visible

In Bleach, having high enough Reiatsu amounts can destroy their opponent or negate abilities, Reiatsu amounts are generally just a natural byproduct of a character's strength. Regular humans have Reiatsu it's not that special so its often ignorable

My main issue is when it's a part of the character's kit of abilities, especially if those abilities have been predetermined as a learned skill or has an inherit link to the power system. This does doubly for abilities that have specified drawbacks or conditions to overcome

Ex. One Piece, Haki isn't attained by every fighter, and not all Haki users have the same types of Haki and not every fighter knows of Haki and it's variants

Finally, the way the resources operate often vary in small but important ways

Ex. Naruto, human's have a Chakra network which limits their usage and can be directly interacted with, and if they drop to 0 they die, and plug n play eyeballs

By doing verse equalizations it often unbalances the conditions of a fight to favor another and is difficult to properly account to be fair. Their are usually alternative win conditions without having to neuter a character

TLDR Goku BFRs or uses Hakai
