After 6 months of designing, accumulating parts, painting and building; my Jag-Stang is complete. My idea was to take Kurt Cobain’s design and modernize it a little bit. I love Nirvana but I wanted a Jag-Stang that I could play metal on.

Did the full build yesterday and today. The body and neck are from warmoth. Body was stock swamp ash black burst. The neck was a custom order with 16" radius, thin C, roasted maple, jumbo stainless frets, graph-tech nut, graph-tech Ratio tuners. Pickups are a Duncan JB (bridge) , and two Duncan Classic Stack Plus (neck/middle). Obsidian blender control inside. Bridge is a Gotoh 510. It came out better than I expected. Lots more sustain than I expected, stays in tune perfectly. Intonation was almost perfect out of the gate after truss rod and trem spring adjustments. I have a high fret or two to level, but I think this is a keeper.

Summer project done. Decided to try my own dye job, id probably do some things different given another chance, but im pretty happy with how it came out.

A while ago someone on here posted about being disappointed with their quilt top. When I saw the post, I became concerned as I had ordered a quilt top around the same time. Imagine my surprise when I found the quilt top was—well, not quilted lmao. Its still a beautiful guitar, just uh not what I had imagined. Anyway—be aware!

If finished this one up a few weeks ago and have been playing it religiously. Warmoth Chambered Jazzmaster body, and roasted maple 59’ Roundback neck with Ebony fretboard. The pickups are Lindy Fralin P90’s (under wound neck, standard wind bridge). I made the pickup covers myself, since I couldn’t find this style for a 52mm spaced bridge. I also, made the back plates by cutting brass and electroplating it myself. They are magnetic. I finished the body and headstock with Oxford Guitar Supply nitrocellulose paint. I actually painted it Aged Olympic White first and then shell pink so as it ages the white will start to show as an under coat.

This build took me most of the year to finish. There was a big mix up with my neck so I had to return it and wait longer but we’re finally here she’s an absolute beauty queen.
