NGD....my first partscaster.

Did the full build yesterday and today. The body and neck are from warmoth. Body was stock swamp ash black burst. The neck was a custom order with 16" radius, thin C, roasted maple, jumbo stainless frets, graph-tech nut, graph-tech Ratio tuners. Pickups are a Duncan JB (bridge) , and two Duncan Classic Stack Plus (neck/middle). Obsidian blender control inside. Bridge is a Gotoh 510. It came out better than I expected. Lots more sustain than I expected, stays in tune perfectly. Intonation was almost perfect out of the gate after truss rod and trem spring adjustments. I have a high fret or two to level, but I think this is a keeper.

Notadumble V2, First Impressions

I've put quite a few hours now, and tinkered with it in various spots in the signal chain. Here are my likes and dislikes:

Likes:

  1. Building it. I have to admit...that was a fun experience. Am I falling for a marketing tactic? Yeah. Did I enjoy it anyway? Also yeah.

  2. The edge of breakup thing: With a clean amp, the NADV2 left side drive on around 1.5 ish, volume at unity, it adds a really nice glassy sparkle to a clean or light overdrive tone.

  3. The right side is a very effective transparent boost putting the pedal at the end of the signal chain. I will probably use it mostly for this purpose.

  4. The left side tone nob, with it late in the signal chain, is a very helpful feature to tweak overall EQ quickly.

DIslikes:

  1. Noise. It seems to add quite a bit of noise, even on lower drive settings (left side in particular).

  2. As a dirty drive: it's just OK Not bad, but not special enough to justify using it for this purpose. I compared it side by side to a bunch of other overdrives and distortions that I'm fond of (Wampler Belle, Wampler Tumnus, several overdrives from a Sansamp PSA 2, TS10 style tube screamer. The NADV2 was my least favorite of those.

Conclusion: I'm keeping it on the board..for now anyway. I'm tolerating the additional hiss, putting it late int the signal chain, keeping the left side always on (light drive), and using the right side as a clean boost. I'd love to hear how others are using it, or if others encountered the same noise issue.

NGD (well....NGM) - Suhr Andy Wood Modern T HH, Whiskey Barrel

New guitar month. I didn't wanna post until I was sure I'd keep it. I spent my whole life wanting a dual humbucker tele but never found the one. I'm a sucker for visible swamp ash grain, so this color spoke to me. One month later, and I've played more than in years, cuz I can't put this thing down.
