I think that this is the case throughout Poland as we saw tickets "run out" at other museums during free days. However, I didn't realize that it could still happen for full price tickets on normal days.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon, we dropped by the Copernicus Science Center and encountered a 1.5 hour wait for the next available entrance to the museum.

Lesson learned: Plan ahead if you want to go to a popular museum. It is possible that you can't get into the museum immediately when you buy tickets at the front gate.

Usually I book rides with bolt/Uber, but yesterday I got a normal taxi ride here for the first time. As in, saw a free cab on the road, and I took it, no apps involved.
It was a 10 minute ride, the meter went up to 39pln, and then the driver charged me 45pln.

In comparison the same ride with bolt/uber would have costed about half of that .

Are normal taxi rides just way more expensive or did I get scammed?

Cześć! I’m a soon-to-be student at the University of Warsaw and I just came to Warsaw 1 month ago.

I’m from South Korea and I heard that the college culture in European universities are quite different. Usually we have a LOT of individual meet ups, orientation activities and sorts but in here I heard college is more like somewhere you just listen to a lecture and go home.
I looked for Erasmus (I’m not an Erasmus though, I’m planning to study for full 3 years) activities but most of them start at September.
I also did look at Facebook but most of them are at bars and I worry that the age group might be too high.. (also I heard that Warsaw at night might be a bit dangerous.. no offense though I know Warsaw is safe compared to other European countries)

I like: baking, cooking, going to cafes, watching media (like anime or indie animation/ YouTube), playing games,
Talking about various topics (debates about social issues) or listening/sharing each other’s philosophy
+ I do go to the gym often

I’ve been trying to find active English-speaking communities in Warsaw, but most of what I see is either occasional board game meetups, Uwaga Beer Pub events, or Facebook groups that don’t seem very active.

I’m looking for something like one main community with separate chats for different interests: tennis, hiking, startups/business, traveling, etc.

Perhaps, some active student chats.

Main goal is to practice English, meet new people, and find a few like-minded friends here. Or maybe even meet someone special, who knows 🙂

Hi everyone! I’ll be staying on Giełdowa street in the Czyste/Wola area from July 5th to 12th and I’d love to sort out the parking situation before I arrive.

I have a car and I’ll need to park it for the whole week. From what my accommodation told me, street parking is free between 20:00 and 08:00. I can see from Google Maps that there are parking meters near the building.

A few specific questions:
1. Which app should I use to pay during the day?
2. Is there any daily cap or a cheaper option for a whole week?

I’m trying to understand if this is normal or if there’s something I should check. In May 2024, me and my wife moved into a 56 m² apartment in Warsaw. Our monthly payments were:

4,300 zlotys — rent, 1,300 zlotys — “czynsz”, and electricity was billed separately.

In may 2025, I received an annual utility bill with an additional charge of 3,664.91 zlotys. I paid it in full.

Now, a year later, 29 of June I again received the bill. This time, the additional charge is 6,371.80 zlotys.

First annual reconciliation (2024):

• Period: Jan–Dec 2024 (even though we only lived there from the end of May)
• Total surcharge: 3,664.91 PLN
• Central heating: 1,917.65 PLN
• Hot water heating: 781.58 PLN
• Water & sewage: 965.68 PLN
• Consumption:
  • Central heating: 22.106 GJ
  • Hot water: 58.48 m³
  • Cold water: 72.49 m³

Second annual reconciliation (2025):

• Total surcharge: 6,371.80 PLN
• Central heating: 3,790.94 PLN
• Hot water heating: 1,312.52 PLN
• Water & sewage: 1,268.34 PLN
• Consumption:
  • Central heating: 33.504 GJ
  • Hot water: 78.39 m³
  • Cold water: 69.02 m³

I'm surprised that, even though our water consumption has increased a little (cold water consumption has actually decreased a bit), our annual additional charge has risen from 3,664 zlotys to 6,372 zlotys, with central heating costs accounting for most of this increase.

What I don’t understand: if, after the 3,664 złoty bill, they (spolka or who manage it) already knew that the monthly advance payments were too low, why didn’t they ad it to our czynsz? How did it happen that additional payment this year turned out to be even higher?

I asked the landlord to provide detailed annual statement monthly breakdowns of the rent (czynsz), and the meter reading history.

My questions:

- Has anyone else heard about such HIGH additional payments for water/heaing??
- If you've ever paid extra, how much was it?

My goal is to get into medical robotics and eventually build my own business. I am more software biased. However, I am trying to learn mechanical and electrical in the background. Is UTM computer science or WUT robotics and automation or WUT mechatronics better? Disregarding where I want to study or price, just in terms of a better long term choice, opportunity and reputation.
