Hi guys

Just received my first pair of Mister Lou boots and out of the box I noticed a slight ding on the left toe - although I usually wouldn’t care (boots are meant to be worn after all) I am conflicted as there is a slight indent on the toe and it almost seems like a repair job depending on the angle?

Additionally, the fit great length wise just like my Warren boots (both US10E) but there is definitely like 1cm or 0.5cm heel slip. Will this improve over time?

What would you guys do in this case? Any advice is appreciated.

picked these up at my local consignment shop NOS for 100 bucks.

Back on MLK day I went to the Wesco factory and got fitted for custom boots. Because of my weird foot shape with super high arches and slightly wide forefoot, I wanted someone who really knew what they were doing taking my measurements.

I ordered a custom Warren with the Motor Patrol last in Maryam Bruciatto Horse rump. My build was based on a collaboration called the Packhorse that Division Road put out years ago. I wanted smooth out leather, Vibram half soles, and no toe cap.

When I got to Wesco and they opened the box... as you can see, they added toe caps. I was like, "Crud, I ordered no toe caps." They looked up my order and sure enough, no toe caps. They said, well, at least try for the fit and we can do a rush job. So luckily the fit was so spot on. I can't stress how amazing it felt to walk around in a pair of boots that fit perfect all around. I've spent 35 years working in poorly fitting work boots. So I'm looking at these and I say to them, "You know, I'm not disliking these toe caps as much as I thought I would." The guy at the showroom says, "Would you take them if we gave you a discount?" And I said "I can probably be talked into that." They gave me $100 off so I said sold! I then said, now that I know the fit is good, I want to order some Jobmasters. They started doing up my build for those and I said I wanted roughout vamp and counters. The lady said, "You know what, since you were so nice about the toe caps, we won't charge you the roughout fee". They also didn't charge for the nickle hooks and eyes.

Basically, for being nice and liking the boots, I got $155 worth of discounts. I think the boots look fantastic and they said this leather will patina nicely.

In typical BigDawg fashion, I couldn’t be limited to entering just 2 pairs of boots and 1 leather good. I bought 2 extra Stitchdown Memberships, so I could enter 6 pairs of boots and 3 leather goods. I’m Doming for fun and for me. I do have a couple of pairs I’m really going to give a big effort on with the Patina, but I want to enjoy more than 2 pairs of boots for the next 6 months.

My Wesco entry this year is my favorite boot style I’ve ever owned, the Mister Lou Engineer Boot. This pair is in Horween Natural Chromexcel. I got lucky with this pair and hit the CXL lottery. The boots have a few natural looking scars on them, but there’s no loose grain, and the pull-up on this leather is insane. They’re chock full of oils and waxes. Of the 6 pairs I’ve entered this year, I believe this pair and my Maryam Natural Horsebutt Baker’s x White’s Bounty Hunters have the most patina potential and will more than likely both be my most worn 2 pairs I’ve entered

I just got these yesterday and I was planning on wearing them for the Thunderdome. The lasting across the instep seems weird/loose to me. I have a high instep and usually fill out this area without question. When I put these on, there is almost a bubble on top of my instep, which I have never had in Wescos before. Bought new from Baker's.
