Baker’s Boots x Wesco Jobmaster Collab in Horween Field Marine Leather

These 6” Jobmasters just dropped on Baker’s site yesterday, and they look fantastic. The Horween Field Marine leather is essentially fancy Natural CXL Roughout. I think I’ve really only seen John Lofgren make boots in this leather. If I hadn’t just received my Black Friday White’s orders and my Oiled Latigo Tan Wesco Mister Lou’s, I’d be all over these. Kyle Baker said they only got 15 pairs of these. They’re in-stock now. Link to boots: https://bakershoe.com/products/wesco-jobmaster®-6-horween-marine-field-roughout?variant=53236483096939

NDD / NBD

New Denim Day and New Boot Day. Denim is Skinner American 🇺🇸 Goods 22oz Japanese Selvedge. Boots are a collab with Baker’s Boots and Wesco. They’re the Mister Lou Engineer Boots in Wickett & Craig Oiled Latigo Tan. I think they make a pretty great combo and look fantastic with a wool Pendleton Board Shirt and Stetson Crushable Wool hat.

NBD - Wesco Mister Lou

It feels like I’m the last one to get a pair out of this recent batch of Wickett & Craig Oiled Latigo Tan Wesco Mister Lou Engineer Boots. The first half of Baker’s stocking shipment contained the smaller sizes, so I had to wait on these 12E’s to arrive. Boy were they worth the wait. These things are so oily and beautiful. All my other Lous are Horsebutt or Horsehide. This veg tan W&C leather has a much stiffer temper than the others, but I’ve seen pics of these fully broken in, and they just get better with age.

It was also a good day because my new 22oz Skinner American Goods Japanese Selvedge Denim jeans arrived. They fit like a glove, but 22oz ain’t no joke. I can’t wait to see the awesome fades these have in them for the future. Can’t wait!

World’s Shortest Smokejumper

Just kidding! These are the LTT Oxfords in Maryam Muschio Horsebutt on the C461 Last with a Vibram Composition Half-Sole. As usual, working with Baker’s Boots on custom White’s is always a pleasure. I always receive fantastic customer service from them.

Later this week I’m expecting my final 2 pairs from Baker’s from the Black Friday Sale. One is an 8” Bounty Hunter with inside lineman’s flap in Maryam Natural Horsebutt. The other is an 8” MP with medallion toe-cap in Maryam Toscanello Horsehide. I expect both of those to be real bangers. I didn’t realize when I ordered 3 pairs on the same last that I became my own production log jam due to White’s not having multiples of the C461 in 11.5E. They couldn’t last the next pair until the first pair was finished. I’ve been seeing others get their Black Friday boots over the last month. Now I know why mine took longer.

NOD - New Oxford Day

These just arrived from Baker’s Boots this morning. They turned out exactly how I envisioned them when I placed my order. They’re going to be a lot cooler to wear in the summer over Smokejumpers or Bounty Hunters.

New Boot Day - Rios of Mercedes

Just got back from picking these up from the UPS store. They’re my first pair from the Rios family of boots. These are made with Horween Aspen Tan Horsehide. I’ve got multiple PNW boots in horsehide, but this is my first pair of HH in a true cowboy boot. Can’t wait to hit the town with them on tonight. These are an exclusive to Coronado Leather in San Diego, CA. I look forward to seeing the patina develop and get those leather rolls that horsehide is known for.

The Palouse is Loose

Italian Brown Cypress on the 5332 last. Went to Cavender’s yesterday to get my hat re-shaped a little. Had 2 separate customers ask me where the could get a pair, and the hat shaper had me take one off so he could really inspect it. I’ve got a bunch of cowboy boots, but my 3 pairs of Palouse (64 Mahogany 55, 64 Tan Roughout 5332, and IBC 5332) are among my favorites. I’m pretty sure my Caiman Belly Lucchese boots weigh a third of what the Palouse does, but I’m already used to other PNW boots, so it’s not an issue for me. When I put on the Lucchese, Rios, or Black Jacks I feel like I’m high-stepping because they’re so light compared to the Nicks. If you’ve get the opportunity to buy a pair, just bite the bullet and wait a year for them to be made.

Goin’ to town day

I need to keep these trips to a minimum. I was happy to find a station that finally had diesel under $5/gallon. It did feel good to get out for a little while and get some things done I’ve been putting off.

Loving my new 40X American Hat Company 5” brim

I picked up this hat last week from Ol’ Glory Hat Company. They were an absolute pleasure to work with. They shaped it how I wanted, and shipped it the day after I ordered it.

New hat, new shirt

This is my first pearl snap shirt I’ve bought in 30 years. Dressed more western as a teenager and early 20’s, but I got away from it when I started my professional career. I’m happy to have re-discovered my love for cowboy boots, hats, and shirts.

Shirt is the Honcho Pat Garrett. Hat is 40X American 🇺🇸 Hat Company with a Cattleman’s Crown and Cool Hand Luke Brim (5” brim).

Shoutout to the fine folks at Ol’ Glory Hat Company, https://oghatco.com, for shaping and shipping this great hat to me. I’ve got very broad shoulders, and this is my first time trying a hat with a 5” brim. I went with a Cattleman’s Crown and a Cool Hand Luke brim. I may take it to a local shaper to have a little bit of turndown in the front, but other than that that I really like it. This is also my first new black hat in 30 years. The purchasing process was fantastic. They sent me pics as they were shaping it to get my feedback. From ordering to in my hands in 4 business days is hard to beat. Three of those were UPS delivering it.

I’ve got around a dozen really nice White’s Packers, Wesco Engineer Boots, and several other styles of boots. I absolutely love Horsebutt with Horsehide.

Im looking for other brands and options. Would prefer a pointed toe or very narrow square toe. I’d also prefer they be a full-size cowboy boot, but I’d settle for the right roper.

My only candidate on the plate right now is a boot made by Rios of Mercedes and branded and sold Coronado Leather. These (pics attached) look like pretty solid boots. Your opinions? I do have a 15% off coupon to bring them to under $725.

Took the Mrs. out to Sunday Brunch this morning for our 18th wedding anniversary. Wore new shirt, new jeans, new belt, and new boots she’d never seen before. She felt extra special that I got dressed up for her and took her to a nice brunch at a restaurant we went to a lot when we were first married.

I’ve actually had these since August of last year, but today is the first time I’ve actually worn them. I love cowboy boots, and I really love the rugged style PNW boots from companies like Frank’s, Wesco, and White’s.

My health has been really poor the last few years. I was diagnosed and beat Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer (Men, please go get your colonoscopy done. If you won’t do that, poop in the box and send it in for testing. Colon cancer is NOT something you want. </soapbox>). I have a terrible case of CIPN (chemo induced peripheral neuropathy), so my feet and hands just hurt all the damned time. The PNW-style boots have fantastic arch support, ankle support, and stability you just can’t get in a traditional cowboy boot. I had a breakthrough treatment done in a high-end sports medicine clinic a month ago that has really been beneficial in both the pain department and stability/strength. I’m finally able to wear cowboy boots again without fear of rolling my ankles or falling. It feels really good to cowboy up again.

Yesterday was my 18 year wedding anniversary, so I got gussied up for the Mrs. this morning and took her to a nice, swanky brunch restaurant. Shirt, jeans, belt, and boots were all new. I’m pretty sure today is the last cool spring day we’ll have, so it’s probably the last time the Resistol Grizzly Mountain- Cody Johnson hat until the fall. Summers in GA are entirely too hot to wear a hat that thick.

👖: Railcar Fine Goods Candiani 10oz Grey Warp/White Weft Stretch Italian Selvedge
👢: Black Jack Boots Smooth Ostrich in Black
🧥 : RalphLauren Button Down
🤠: Resistol 6X #CodyJohnson Grizzly Green Hat

The Mrs. and I just celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary yesterday, so I got gussied-up for her to go to Sunday brunch this morning. Added a couple of photos of us at the rodeo from a couple of weeks ago.
