I prefer the MeTV Toons design, but the original has its own charm.
Wally Walrus's design changed a little over time, But suddenly, starting in the 1950s, his tusks were discarded.
PEOPLE, I'VE JUST MADE A HUGE DISCOVERY!!!!
Context, In the Late 1980's Disney was willing to file legal action against 3 Florida daycare centers, for having their characters like Mickey Mouse and Jiminy Cricket among others on their murals and So MCA/Universal stepped in to these centers to not only get rid of the paintings of the Disney characters, but to paint in both Universal's and Hanna-Barbera's characters in their place as well as having some of their mascot characters appear at the grand reopenings.
What You see here is some very extremely rare and very elusive photos taken from a newspaper featuring the newly (at the time) painted take centers featuring the painted versions of Woody Woodpecker, Chilly Willy, Andy Panda and even Hanna-Barbera's Boo-Boo.
And Look, Even The "80's-90's Skinny Woody" Mascot Costume appeared at one of these reopenings.
I was finally able to capture some video of Woody, the Pleated Woodpecker. He's my favorite visitor!
