Elemental Shaman talk

I’d like to keep my critiques constructive without coming off as overly negative.

Elemental Shaman has awesome class fantasy and is one of the coolest specs in Vanilla.

Which is why im confused and concerned by the direction they’ve been taken.

The class known for high burst damage combos and powerful casts has been reduced to seemingly the most lackluster and weak caster on par with a mage spamming frost bolt in raid.

When boiled down the changes to elemental shamans are almost all negative, Chain lightning and lightning bolts damage have been reduced so drastically that Chain lightning is no longer worth pressing in single target. So you’ve already lost one of the core pillars of Elemental, and beyond that Elemental Mastery, the most satisfying cooldown and another pillar of Elemental was completely removed, replaced by Lava Burst which when doing the math is hardly worth using over a lightning bolt.

One would think that they would’ve taken their time diagnosing Elementals problems but their solution was to take away much of the crit chance accessible via talents, lower the damage of Elementals most iconic spells known for bursting (The base damage was nerfed significantly more than any other casters abilities), and hardly touch anything else about the spec as a whole.

How did one of the lowest damage specs in Vanilla PVE get nerfed more than any other caster bar none, and then have almost no meaningful talent changes to fix the problems they had in Vanilla?

I just dont understand where the improvements to Elemental were made, it seems they removed more than was added, and at the expense of what made Elemental so cool.

Finally I would like to leave you with two images that I believe encapsulate the state of Elemental Shaman.

Ice Lance is an INSTANT cast that already has higher base damage than CHAIN LIGHTNING, costs less than HALF the mana, and can hit FOUR TIMES harder than Chain Lightning if the opponent is frozen…

Edit: this is not a call to nerf Ice Lance, only a comparison to show Elemental Shamans only lost what made Elemental unique while mages received all around more fun and impactful changes (and an instant cast spell that does more damage to 1 target than Chain Lightning does to 3)

Thrall save us.

Horizontal progression ideas for Forever, inspired by OSRS (10 item concepts)

As a WoW and OSRS lover, I thought it was only fitting to think of some item concepts for Forever which will help foster horizontal progression and keep new content from killing old content.

I put together 10 rough item concepts with a lot of inspiration from OSRS, each built on a different underlying principle:

  1. Weapon/item upgrades: a new drop that upgrades an existing item (Brutality Blade from Garr)

  2. Multi-item crafting: one trinket built from shards off four dungeon end bosses

  3. Items with limited charges: fuelled by Dark Runes from Scholomance

  4. Tier set conversions: turn your Tier 1 into an off-spec version

  5. Bounty trinkets: Slayer style tasks out in the world

  6. Weapons for specific enemy types: e.g. a polearm that's best against dragonkin enemies

  7. Countering boss/enemy mechanics: situational gear, like the Onyxia Scale Cloak

  8. Quest-gated gear: a long chain through every dungeon

  9. Zone completionism: rewards for fully completing a zone

  10. Rare recipes on old bosses: reasons to keep running low-level dungeons

These are really rough ideas and not balanced designs in the slightest. Any number on a new effect is shown as "X" because I've no idea what the right values would be. The point is the principle.

Would you want to see anything like this in Forever, and which do you think would/wouldn't work?

Would love to hear other ideas and people's thoughts! :)

Level 60 completionism

Oh I'm probably going to get roasted for this. I really hate the "every zone is your level" mechanic in retail... but what about just one toggle?

There's a lot of great content and you have to pick and choose which areas you get to experience on your leveling journey... which is great! A different story every time. But maybe you're not an altoholic like me, or maybe your both an altoholic and a completionist.

What if, at level 60, you can switch back and forth between Azeroth as it is, and the exact same Azeroth but with all of the mobs and stuff adjusted for level 60? Not even updated rewards - well, maybe more coin for the time. Just a way to go back and do all the quests in the zones you didn't experience in this playthrough and have it feel like a challenge instead of just walking through all the low-level quests. Hit a portal in any capital city and bam, all the mobs are your level. Go back to the and portal any time to rejoin "regular" players and help lower level friends.

Experience the entire breadth of the world without being that one weird level 60 one-shotting everything in Red Ridge for completionism.

Alliance Mages should have new teleport and portal spells to Dalaran City, maybe a new questline to unlock them, after completing the dungeon once or w/e

Would be so dope

Content Idea: Goblin racing and jumping puzzles

It would be interesting to have instanced goblin races in the desert on Kalimdor as well as goblin organised jumping puzzles, inspired by the gold saucer in Final Fantasy. This could allow Blizzard to introduce further horizontal progression systems and tie interesting rewards such as cosmetics, titles, mounts and tabards to it. What other “non-combat" systems do you see could work well in W∞W?

Dual Spec at 40 - Are we gatekeeping fun from our tanks and healers?

Whenever the topic of adjusting the level at which dual spec is introduced get raised, it gets countered by the fact that it is not required.

While mostly true, I also think that we are needlessly gate keeping fun from our healers and tanks.

Needing to choose between having more fun either in the open world or in dungeons doesn't seem like it's done for the benefit of anything.

Keep it in the spirit of classic, introduce it through an epic quest chain that starts early from your class trainer and have you travel the world learning things from different class trainers in different locations.

Man the options for class fantasy could be so damn cool!

If you genuinely feel like it would ruin something critical in the classic experience, I really want to hear it...

but as it stands I dont really see any reason it should stay the way that it is...

Hunter pet for leveling

Hi!

I plan to level a BM hunter to 60 by mostly solo play with questing. I would like to hear your thoughts regarding pet selection.

Heres my view and right now. I used to level with vulture/owl/bat for the aoe threat that comes with Screech, very good for dealing with packs, but I heard the threat has been heavily nerfed on the new demo shout ability.

I am choosing between Boar and Bear right now. Boar for the initial threat and movement with Charge or Bear for the Aoe swipe.

What do you think?

Thanks!
Kind regards, Charpent

forever inspired me: Upgraded my five year-old gaming, MSI laptop to this

I’ve learned a ridiculous amount about prebuilts over the last 48 hours after looking through insane amounts of comparisons. Ended up taking this bad boy as the clear winner.

Specs:
GPU: 5060 Ti (I know it’s a 8Gigabyte, don’t come for my head lol)

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 (worked out a lot of the kinks, runs great from my research)

RAM: 32GB out of the box

Storage: 2TB SSD

Honestly don’t know if there’s even a better deal out there right now. I cannot fucking wait to play WoW forever on max settings for the first time in my life. I know some will say maybe it’s overkill, but I’ll definitely be playing a ton of other games on it too, plus using it for work.

To top it all off, I snagged a pretty awesome deal on Amazon for a standing desk and I’m moving into my new home tomorrow, first time home owner.
See you boys in Azeroth. Would love to know what you guys think of the rig!

Flask of Petrification

Beta is the best time to make any changes to this problematic item. Once the game goes live, and particularly once Hardcore goes live in a few months, it will be too late, and the backlash too severe to change it.

options:

-Nerf the flask

-increase the cost dramatically (add an item that has a chance to drop from the final boss of every level 60 dungeon, and add that to the recipe for this flask, and maybe some Ghost Mushrooms too)

-Change the “teleport out of dungeon” mechanic post 50, and in raids, so that the timer stops while under effects of this flask.

-keep flask exactly the same, but add a debuff to the player similar to Rez sickness for X hours once flask of petri is used. I think a 4 hour res sick debuff would be fair. It also needs a weakened soul stuff debuff so they can’t be chained together.

are there any other options we can consider?

System Requirement Help

Hi all,

I have a new ThinkPad T14s Gen 5 Intel sitting unopened that I got free from work last year and am wondering if this will play WoW Forever. My plan is to see if I enjoy it during the beta before investing in a new gaming laptop. I am open to purchasing an external graphics card if needed and welcome recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

New Rogues mechanic

So, I bet most you already watched the vod about class changes from blizzard. There are plenty of things that had been told, but the main idea is that any class have some specific purpose/design and all the changes should fit into that. And there are damage budget that all classes should follow.
So I have come up with an idea that dont break their phylosophy but at the same time bring more FUN to players imo.

The new mechanic is based on cancelling next auto attack in order to obtain some amount of energy. Idea is, a new button with a little cd 3-5 sec (or even without cd) that dont trigger global cd that called "Moment please". I think it fits the class design perfectly just as u dont swing, means u saved some energy (literal energy, not resource), and it reward a rogue with their energy (resource).

Why it is not overpowered:

So there should be more actual calculation from the devs and testers but let me show an example. Lets say you have weapon with 2.5 speed and average dmg as 100 per hit. It means in 5 sec you hit 3 times. Below a little "calculations" for regular lvl 30 rogue

Hit -> Wait(2.5 sec) -> Hit -> Wait (2.5 sec) -> Hit, total dmg = 300

So lets tune the new button to match same amount of dmg, sinister strike rank 5 is 30dmg + base weapon dmg which is 130 per hit, so it means that we need to press sinister approximately 2.3 times to match the white dmg which lead us that we need 100 energy in 5 sec. (Here we do not add the base energy restoration bcz white attack do not consume any energy, and we need to match them with only sinister strike). You can say that by using sinister strike you gain combo point that increase your dps by spending it to snd/evisrate and you will be right, so we need to nerf energy gain by lets say 20-30% (again, we need more accurate calculation, here I just bring the idea and try to justify it). So in the end we get a new button with 5 sec cd that restores you 40-50 energy but cancels your next 2 swings. Or no cd but it cancels 1 next swing and restore you 20 energy.

PVE:

so new button will be used to generate combo points (CPS) to keep up SnD and new Venom ability, people are aware that all CPS will be used just to keep them up, a new ability kinda solves this issue without boosting or loosing dps.

PVP:

I think here would be most debates that says it is OP, but as I said, lets look to most regular combo cheap shot + kidney shot is 9 sec disable, in 9 sec our rogue would hit about 4.8 times which is 480 dmg anyway, so tuning new button to match this amount would be ok. Only OP'iesh part is gouge, and u dont hit in to the gouged target so OP. With talent gouge is 4.5sec disable and our button wil generate us about 40 energy. In some situtation it could become crucial to have it, but remember that in 4.5 sec rogue will passivle get 45 energy and it will be enough for almost any ability to finish fight, and if gouge used to reset fight it doesnt matter bcz after reset energy will be 100/100 anyway. And as devs said PVP is reactive, you can react to rogue when you see that he already built up 5 CPS or after gouge he plans to do smth or just tries to reset the fight.

This is just an idea, and there might accure some problems with the button too OP or useless. But in my opinion, pressing button and manage combo point are MORE FUN than just looking as my character swing, yes rogues have high white damage so lets lower that in order to press more buttons, I dont want us to become super OP, I just want to press button insted of waiting 5 sec to press 1 sinister strike.

P.S I dont have active subscription, so could some1 repost this to US and EU forum plz.
