I played Temtem with the "streaming with ads" functionality and it is a good use case for it

I purchased Temtem in a sale a month ago and didn't bother to start it then. I started the game today and I just discovered it is a paid, always online game. I tried refunding it but the refund period was already over. Of course it is my fault, because I checked the store page and there is stated that the game needs a Gamepass subscription, which for the moment I don't have.

Then I noticed the game can be streamed with ads and I thought well, why not since I already purchased it. It worked very well and the pop-up to subscribe to Gamepass did not appear. That way, I managed to play this game that requires a Gamepass subscription. I don't know if there many games in that situation, where you can stream an owned game with this service, but it is good as option to make a game playable without spending more money.

The streaming device matters?

Quick question. I have noticed that streaming on my ipad (air 2024) is worse than streaming on my macbook (m3 2024). Does the device that is streaming matters? They are on the same network and both are very capable streaming devices.

I’m getting ping as low as 1 ms. 1080p with 59fps. Am I the server!?? 😂

Just kidding but seriously low ping 0 ms, 1ms, 2ms.
But the quality is not that amazing.
I’m using my laptop with Ethernet (100Mbps) and wired controller.
Also there are two different streaming option settings for Fire Stick 4K and windows Xbox app have you guys noticed?
And obviously the quality on fire stick looks much better even on 1080p tv but it’s wireless so there is delay

Lost Save

I've been playing The Planet Crafter for about 100+ hours now. I only play on cloud via Gamepass, i don't own an Xbox. It's been working great, I play on my TV, computer, and Android handheld.

But yesterday I played a long sesh then saved and quit and went to bed. This morning my save is just gone, I checked on all the devices. Any recourse or am I just boned? This is leaving a really sour taste in my mouth for cloud :(

CloudGear v2.0 is now available, with CloudGear for Apple TV, full Steam Controller support, and a new Virtual Mouse!

CloudGear v2.0 is the biggest update since launch, and it's out now on the App Store. It's the release that takes CloudGear off the phone: there's now a CloudGear app for Apple TV.

Thanks to everyone who ran the public beta since June. All the feedback we received was instrumental in getting v2.0 to where it is today.

CloudGear for Apple TV

Browse and launch games on your iPhone or iPad exactly as you do today, then play them on your Apple TV in up to 4K with HDR10 and 7.1 surround sound. It's the first app to bring GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna and Boosteroid to Apple TV together.

It's included with your CloudGear unlock. One subscription or lifetime purchase covers your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, so there's nothing extra to buy.

Setup takes about a minute: install CloudGear on your Apple TV, enter the six-digit code it shows into CloudGear on your iPhone or iPad, and the two stay paired from then on. It's a companion app rather than a standalone one: your iPhone or iPad does the browsing, the signing in and the launching, and your Apple TV plays the game.

There are two ways to play:

  • Hand-Off is the default. The game moves onto your Apple TV and runs there natively, for the lowest possible latency. Once it's handed off you can lock your iPhone or put it down entirely, and play with a game controller, the Siri Remote touchpad, or a Steam Controller.
  • Tethered keeps your iPhone or iPad connected and relays input, so a keyboard and mouse plugged into it drive the game on the TV. tvOS can't connect to a mouse at all, so this is the only way to play with one on the big screen. It's the mode for strategy games and MMORPGs.

One thing worth knowing before you set it up: controllers pair to the Apple TV itself, not to your phone.

Full Steam Controller support

Valve's new Steam Controller is now a first-class input device on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV (and we believe this makes CloudGear the first third-party app on any platform to introduce full support for it). The original 2015 Steam Controller is supported too.

Pair it once in your device's Bluetooth settings and CloudGear picks it up automatically from then on, across every service. It works as a gamepad with the right trackpad as a precise mouse, with full rumble and trackpad haptics.

The part worth trying is Keyboard & Mouse mode. Every button, stick and trackpad can be remapped to any key or mouse action, which makes keyboard-and-mouse-only games playable with just a controller: map the left stick to WASD, aim with the trackpad, and so on. Press the QAM button to switch modes mid-game.

Virtual Mouse

No mouse and no controller? Virtual Mouse drives a mouse pointer using touch gestures alone: click, drag, right-click and scroll. It's available on GeForce NOW and Boosteroid, and can also be driven from a DualSense or DualShock touchpad.

Plus:

  • New performance overlay showing bitrate, frame rate, ping, jitter and packet loss over the stream, toggled from the in-game menu.
  • New Anti-deadzone setting. Games usually ignore a small area around the centre of each thumbstick, which leaves the stick slow to respond; this cancels that out so aiming stays responsive.
  • New Xbox button shortcut that virtually presses the Guide/Xbox/PS button that iOS and tvOS block on a physical controller.
  • Faster, lower-latency video rendering, with colour accuracy fixes for HDR and 10-bit streams.
  • New app-wide volume slider (Settings > Audio) that sets the stream's volume independently of the system volume.
  • New icon size slider for the bookmark grid, and a new "Disable top-edge swipe" setting for the menu bar.
  • Fixed 5.1 and 7.1 surround always being downmixed to stereo instead of driving multichannel hardware such as an HDMI receiver.
  • Fixed the mouse pointer sometimes failing to lock after switching apps.
  • Fixed the microphone indicator staying lit after a session had ended.
  • GFN: New Auto resolution picks the best option GeForce NOW offers for the screen you're actually playing on, whether that's your device's screen, an external display, or a paired Apple TV.
  • Boosteroid: Fixed left and right modifier keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) being sent as the wrong side.
  • Renamed "Connection Stats" to "Stream Details".
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes and other improvements.

Controller support?

I was trying to play mw3 on my Odin 3 and I have been having a problem finding a controller that works. So far I have only tried mw3 using my 8bitdo but the right thumbstick isn't working I'm not sure if it's a problem with the app or the controller. Any suggestions?

Anyone else feel like the TV matters way more for xCloud than people admit?

I used to think cloud gaming was basically all about internet speed, but lately I’ve been messing around with Xbox cloud gaming on my Hisense TV and realized the screen/settings actually make a pretty noticeable difference too.

Game Mode helped more than I expected, especially with games where the camera moves fast. Still not exactly the same as playing locally, obviously, but it went from “yeah I can tell this is streaming” to something I’d actually use from the couch.

Now I’m wondering how much of the bad xCloud experience people talk about is really network-related, and how much comes down to the TV, Bluetooth controller, picture settings, etc.

What usually makes the biggest difference for you?

Game Pass Ultimate

Does the Game Pass Ultimate plan have queue priority to access xCloud here in Brazil? Because I don't see any queue priority difference compared to the other plans.

New PC and router - now having lag issues

Hi All,

I sometimes play games on my office PC on my breaks. Was previously running a nearly 10 year old Dell PC, and we have BT business broadband but not massively fast, 76mb download etc. Never had any problems with lagging, it was slightly delayed like I think all xcloud is(?) but never had any massive issues and could play single player games no issues.

We have been upgraded, new PCs (refurbed but still a lot faster etc), but we have had a new router connected to our old BT router (firewall router?), and when I went to play after it had been installed, I was getting massive lagging almost 2-3 seconds delay. I turned on the stats overlay and it didn't look like I was dropping frames, and ping and latency was solid and didn't seem to be fluctuating, and there also wasn't any noticeable packet loss. I tried changing some settings, dropping the quality down etc, but nothing seemed to change things, it was still lagging quite bad. Any ideas what could be causing this? I assumed the new router/firewall, but I am by no means an expert on this!

EDIT: Editing to include more details. Device is a Lenovo 11BM0016UK, Windows 11. I have tried on both Xbox.com/play, and on the Xbox App. No other browser extensions. I am in the UK.

I bought Gamepass Ultimate, but my connected Ubisoft Account didn't get the classic catalogue games

https://preview.redd.it/bvf8sv8ikzjh1.png?width=1706&format=png&auto=webp&s=54b831d066dcef2268405225ac74fde0d088b7d2

I've connected this account to my Xbox and due to their "restriction" If I unlink my ubisoft account from Xbox, I might have wait a long time to connect a new one. Even doing this won't guarantee that the new account will get the games.
Has anyone else dealt with such problem? Whats the solution?

Samsung S95H 65inches Xbox Cloud Gaming Controller support

Its simple i bought the S95H 65 inches. I found basic list of controllers which are supported online. They all list default xbox of PS controllers but those dont contain hall effect sticks.

I want hall effect sticks only so only option is 3rd party. My usecase is Xbox cloud and Ge force now playing on tv directly. I thought xbox certified controllers would solve the problem but information out there is wonky at best with no one willing to commit for certain it works.

I have narrowed down below controllers :

  1. 8BitDo Ultimate 3-mode Controller - Rare 40th Anniversary Edition

  2. 8BitDo Ultimate 3-mode Controller

Now both controllers are pricey af but ill pay up once.

If you fellas know other better controllers with smooth working integration for my use case which are cheaper or around the same price as the 2 listed above please let me know fellas !!

Xbox should give 2020 xCloud Beta Testers a permanent profile badge. Our original rewards are completely gone.

I was cleaning my inbox today and found the original email welcoming me as a Founding Member of the Project xCloud Preview back in 2020 here in Brazil. It brought back great memories of helping test the servers, dealing with high latency, and sending feedback when cloud gaming was just an experiment.

However, it made me realize that all the cool digital rewards we got back then (like the floating cloud Xbox Avatar item) are completely gone because those legacy systems were discontinued, and the email links have expired.

With the new leadership at Xbox focusing so much on community and player appreciation, wouldn't it be awesome if Xbox brought back some recognition for the pioneers? A simple, permanent "xCloud Legacy/Founder" profile badge (like the tenure badges we have for Xbox Live years) would be a great way to preserve this history.

Did anyone else here participate in the 2020 preview? What are your memories from those early cloud days?

Has Anyone Tested the New Xbox Cloud Sync Management on Console?

Since the new Xbox console update, it is possible to see cloud synchronization information if the game is installed, but not yet if the game has only been played via the cloud. As of today, it is easier to access all the saved game information in the cloud through the Xbox mobile app.

Has anyone tried how cloud sync management works through the console?

Do you think it will finally be possible to have all the information unified across both console and PC?
