Black channels?

Anyone see a common problem of changing channels and the station is just black? Happens on CNBC mostly every day. This happens on both Roku and Apple TV. I typically have to watch with my fire stick with a non discussed service to get it to work. A few hours later it will work. Drives me bananas.

Survivor 50 finale did not record last night

We live in Atlanta. My wife is a huge Survivor fan, and last night's episode did not record. The episode is not even available as an on-demand offering. Anyone else have this problem?

Roku App UI change

Looks like they made a change that if you are watching a program and bring up the menu, the program no longer continues to play in the background and the name/channel doesn’t show at the very top anymore so you can’t easily go back into the program. Instead, the screen goes black and the only way to get back to the show is back to the live guide or back to the home screen and hope it’s showing in one of the sections.

Also, there’s a new loading animation that doesn’t look that great but not as much as an annoyance as the other changes. I will say that it does seem to move a little fast but I much prefer to be able to easily get back to what I was watching and having it play in the background and not have silence.

Here’s a short vid of the changes: Roku TV UI Navigation Changes

2 questions:

  1. Anyone else seeing this on Roku?
  2. Which genius decided this was a good idea?

Live Guide is not "live" anymore

This just started yesterday, when I turn the TV on (Hisense Roku TV), then open the YouTube TV app, the guide displays, but there is no live channel plays in the background (auto play is on). If I select a channel, it plays, however if I hit "back" to go to the Library/Home/Live menu, the channel stops and a blank grey screen displays in the background, every time I select a channel I get a blank grey screen with a LOADING... message for a second or two. My other TV with a firestick starts with a live channel on, and does not go to blank background when I hit the guide menu. I did unplug the TV and did not fix the issue, any tips on this would be appreciated.

Changing from cable to YTTV but already had Sunday Ticket Through Youtube. It says we have to still manage it just through Youtube?

Was curious if anyone has had experience with this before?

We had Xfinity for years for cable (also had Redzone through Xfinity). Few years back we decided to get the Sunday Ticket through Youtube to watch during the NFL Season. We did that for a few years and have decided we just wanna cut out Xfinity and switch over to YTTV. So now we have YTTV as well as the NFL Sunday Ticket + NFL Redzone. However it says under membership that the NFL Sunday Ticket + NFL Redzone are "Purchased on Youtube: Purchases from Youtube must be managed on YouTube." My question is, when it comes time for the season and actually able to use these services, will they be usable on the YTTV app? Or only through the YouTube app? (Previously we just used the YouTube app to watch the Sunday Ticket, but with us now having YTTV should it all be accessible on there?)

Screen stuck on random dude’s face?

Anyone else having this issue? I’m on a Samsung TV. YouTube TV has been playing the correct audio, but the screen is some guy’s face. I’ve restarted the app. Issue is not happening on my phone.

YTTV affected by YouTube premium family share

I have been working outside my home and my brother just got an email that YouTube Premium family membership requires to be same home. I will be returning home in a few weeks, but not before the 14 days. Will this affect YouTube TV service?

Never saw this message before in channel guide. Couldn’t tune a channel.

I’ve been with YTTV for over a year now and I’m very pleased so far. Tonight I went to change froGame Show Network to my local Fox channel and my entire guide said “No info available”. I couldn’t tune any channel. So I closed the app and tried opening again and the problem was still there. BTW I’m using the built in app on a Sony Bravia which has usually worked fine, thinking that might be the issue. So I went into one of the channels that was up above the guild and that did connect and then the guide reappeared and has been ok.
Is this a YTTV issue or was it the Sony app causing the problem?

How to queue to “live” and avoid lag between TVs in different rooms.

I have two Amazon FireSticks on two separate TVs, both with YouTubeTV app. One tv is in one room, and the second tv is in another room. Occasionally, the tvs will fall out of sync, with one always seeming to be a second or two behind the other. This is especially frustrating when watching live sports. Even when I queue to the “live” spot on the lagging tv, it doesn’t exactly get in sync with the other one. Is there any trick or tip to getting the feed to as “live” as possible?

Use Case Inquiry: Parents Use XFinity Cable TV for FOX, CNN, MSNBC, and ESPN.

Their home has five TVs. All five TVs are used at different times throughout their days but never overlapping more than 2 TVs on at one time. The ONLY things they watch are those channels mentioned in the title. However, they do stream shows on HBO Max, Netflix, Hulu, etc. I have two questions

(1) Given their use case, is YouTube TV a sound alternative?

and

(2) Given their age (70s), is transitioning to the streaming platforms easy within YouTube TV or must they exit and go to another app?

Thanks!!!

Guide for TCM (mostly) keeps showing the same movie in next time slot?

Started happening recently. When I scroll right on the channel the same movie shows multiple times in the time slots. I have to really move right (later) to get the next movie. It's kinda hard to explain.

MLB Network, glitch or coming back?

For the last week or so, MLB Network is back in my YTTV channel guide but I can't actually watching anything, just tells me "this video is unavailable" everytime I try.

Is this just a glitch, or is MLB coming back to YTTV soon?

Video displays small when opening YouTube TV through Siri commands

Pretty much as the title describes. I cannot post or link to an image of it (kinda dumb but whatever), but whenever I use Siri to turn on my Apple TV and open YTTV, the video player is limited to the top left corner of my display. This happens until the app is force-closed and restarted normally through the home screen, afterwards it fills the whole display as normal.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Thanks in advance

ION not in sports package

In my area ION carries WNBA and NWSL games which I used to record. But after switching to Sports + Entertainment I no longer get ION. Curious if anyone knows why this isn't included in Sports. I can still get it OTA with an antenna so I just miss out on the DVR really.

On launch, always has Game Show Network playing (make it stoppppp!)

Using an Apple TV.

Didn’t go to sleep watching GSN. After a number of hours, I’ll turn the tv on, launch the app (it wasn’t force closed), and it will be on the Home tab, but GSN is playing (and no doubt Family Feud is on).

I’ve searched every setting to see if I can find if this channel (or show) is set as preferred. Nothing.

Am I missing something?

**Edit: For those suggesting turning off autoplay, I suppose I could. Is that the only solution? I kinda like something playing when I turn it on. Just not that channel.

I’d be good with the last channel.

YTTV not loading on Vizio smart tv

I’ve had these 2 Vizio smart tvs for about a year, never any problems using YTTV on either.

Just had to replace my hotspot (new device is wifi7, not sure if that matters) and now I’m struggling to get YTTV specifically to work.

On one tv, it just plays the leading graphic, goes dark briefly, then plays the graphic again. No sound, just the graphics on loop. Sometimes I can get it to work if I switch to a different network and back. Sometimes I have to reset all apps and log in to YTTV again. If I can get it working, it’ll be fine for a while, then stop again. No error message.

The other tv will play the loading graphic, no sound, go dark briefly, then go to a white screen with a network error. Sometimes switching to another network and back will fix it. Once it’s on, it dies great for a while, then dies. Seems especially problematic if we want to change the channel.

I have factory reset both TVs, my hotspot, brand new WiFi extender, everything I can think of. App is pre-installed on the TVs and there’s no way to uninstall/reinstall that I can find.

Literally every other streaming app we use on these TVs works with no issues. Im at a loss for what to try next. Does this sound like an app issue, a tv issue, or a network issue?

Advice needed: Trying to use ID.me First Responder discount on a very old plan—Support says "Cancel & Restart" - Afraid I'll lose my current plan.

Hey everyone, I need some clarity before I accidentally nuke my account. I’ve been a YouTube TV member for years. I have a Base Plan from at least 5 years ago which currently gives me 167 channels and 5 family sharing slots.

I just found out about the ID.me First Responder discount ($15/mo off for a year). I’ve already verified my credentials on ID.me, but since I’m an existing member, the website won’t let me apply it.

I contacted support, and they told me I have to "Cancel and Restart" to trigger the discount. They claim I’ll keep all my "benefits" as long as I use the same email.

**The Red Flag:** I opened a private tab to see what a "New Member" actually gets today (May 2026). The new "Main Plan" is only 140 channels for the same price I'm paying now ($82.99). If I cancel my 167-channel plan, it looks like I’m going to lose 27 channels immediately, including: Collegiate Sports: ACC Network, SEC Network, Big Ten Network (which seem to be moved to a $15 add-on now). Legacy Networks: A&E, AMC, and others that aren't in the new "140-channel" lineup. My Questions: Has anyone with an older (grandfathered in/legacy/whatever you wanna call it) 167-channel plan successfully canceled and restarted without losing those grandfathered channels?

Or did the system force you onto the new 2026 "Genre" bundles?

Has anyone succesfully gotten a Billing Supervisor to manually apply the ID.me credit to an active legacy account so you don't have to risk the cancel/restart loop? The chat agent said he asked about manually adding the discount but he can't because its an ongoing discount and not a promo.

I’m currently Paused while I figure this out. I’d rather keep my 167 channels than save $15 and lose my sports and family slots. Any teachers, first responders, or veterans run into this?

Thanks!

Outside of home area - but we are at home

I have YTTV subscription under my email address and it is shared with my wife.

Our TV in the living room (Roku) has both of our accounts. Her profile says she’s out of her home area and won’t play anything. My profile on the same TV shows that we are in a different area than we actually are - but my profile is playing everything fine.

My phone on my profile and her phone on her profile will both play and they both show that we are actually in our home area.

All 3 devices are on the same WiFi, but the Roku is showing different locations than our phones.

Any thoughts?
