I have pretty terrible PPA, so this has been keeping me up at night.

Hey everyone,

I’m just looking to see if anyone has had a similar experience with their baby because I’m tying myself in knots worrying.

My little boy is 8 weeks old and is exclusively breastfed. For the past 2/3 weeks he’s had really explosive, mucusy poos (sometimes they look quite oily too). He used to poo 5-6 times a day but now it’s more like 2-3 big explosive ones.

He’s also very gassy, arches his back a lot, pulls his legs up and kicks out, cries suddenly as if he’s in pain, and has quite a distended (but soft) tummy. He spits up fairly regularly as well.

After speaking to the GP, she thought it was just reflux and has given him omeprazole, but I’m just not convinced. Would that cause the mucusy stool? Is that not more likely to be CMPA?

He has a dry, rough rash on his face and body, although the GP wasn’t concerned and thought it just looked like dry skin. He also sneezes a lot?

The confusing part is that he definitely has happy periods too. He’s gaining weight well and doesn’t seem miserable 24/7. That’s what’s making me wonder whether I’m overthinking everything.

Has anyone had a baby with a combination of symptoms like this? Did it turn out to be reflux, CMPA, just an immature digestive system, or something else? I’d love to hear your experiences because my health anxiety is having a field day and it’s so horrible seeing him unhappy!
