100% merino wool jumper (🇦🇺) - how to mend collar

Hello! Idk if this belongs in a sewing sub or a knitting sub, but I’ll try here first.
I picked up this lovely merino wool knit jumper (sweater) from salvos today. The collar is beginning to fray/get holes.
I’m wondering if anyone can advise me on the best way to mend this? I’d say I’m already on the ol needle and thread, I’ve been hand sewing since I was a child. But I’m less experienced with knit and wool. Should this be mended with cotton thread ? Or does it need to be knitted/crocheted together?
Also, I’m planning on washing the garment along with some other wool jumpers I bought, but my intuition is telling me I should hold off until this one is mended… would I be correct? I don’t want to damage it further. Yes I have wool detergent, and will be sure to dry it flat.

Thanks for any assistance you all can provide, or if you can point me in the direction of the correct sub.

Do they have any intention of fixing the travelator at fairy meadow Cole’s - a rant

Those things have been broken for like a year now? More even!? How does the centre management justify not fixing them? I’m annoyed.
And yes, I shop elsewhere but right now I’m annoyed

If I wanted to create something like this (without spending $790) how would I go about doing that?

I can see that the tiles are flush with the timber edging, so I assume there needs to be some kind of recess from the ‘frame’ and the ‘internal’ wood?

Sorry I don’t know the correct terminology.

Question is, are these kinds of coffee tables usually made by carving out a space for the tiles from a thick timber tabletop? Or, is it a sheet of timber (that has been tiled) secured in the middle of a frame?

Just trying to wrap my head around it.

First pics are an example online, last pic is a table on marketplace that has a ‘frame’ and ‘internal’ bit of wood. Would this work? Or should I go for a table that is one piece of wood and carve out a space that is deep enough for tiles+adhesive/grout?

Thanks 🧡
