Are any other franchise’s director credits similar to this? I imagine it’s more likely to occur with animation. And when the hell are Chris Renaud & Kyle Balda going to work together???
It’s basically a “blink and you’ll miss it” part but it got a big laugh in my theater. I hope John and Claudia come back on the pod to promote it! It’s fantastic! It perfectly balances its tricky tone of being a parody of/a sincere take on melodramatic social issue TV movies. It made me cry laugh more than once (yet another friend of the pod Kate Berlant destroys) and also a little misty eyed from John’s vulnerable performance by the end. A ton of funny people you know are in it and it’s one of the most gorgeous movies you’re likely to see this year because the lighting/colors/camerawork are top notch. It’s out in select theaters next week!
