To me, an interesting situation I'm looking for insight on, in Oklahoma. I am NAL
Quick background: Pulled over yesterday. Expird vehicle registration (my fault, no excuse, but also remedied soon as let go), BUT i was also given a citation for "improper lane change", with the officer noting i didn't have my turn signal on for the required 100ft in Oklahoma before changing lanes. Fine is $220, or close to it.
I have a clean driving record. Looking at the citation, there is no recorded speed that I was driving, nor how long the officer saw my turn signal on for before he decided i hadn't drive the required 100ft distance. Times are tough and that fine is a lot for me to pay.
When i plan on going to my court appearance, should I bring a copy of my driving record and hope the judge dismisses based on my record? Should I question the officer as to how long he noted my turn signal was on? Should I ask him how fast i was going? Simple math states that at 35mph, my turn signal only need be on for 2 seconds to travel the 100ft (102, actually). Should I call into question his "sense" of time, when no time or speed is listed, when those are the exact 2 variables needed to determine the distance traveled?
Thank you
