[ON] wfh note, what to ask for?

Going to see my OB today and I plan to ask for a note to provide to my manager so that I can work from home. I’m 31 weeks and high risk due to blood pressure issues. Also anemic and dealing with thyroid issues- so my OB is in the high risk clinic of the hospital. Still I am nervous to ask for a note. Anyone who has done this what did you say to your Dr ? What reason did they put on the note. It’s a long commute into the city for me for a job that I do remote every day except for 1x a month. This is the last in office day before I start mat leave, I find it kind of ridiculous they want a note at all..

Mat leave affect pre approval?

Just submitted my application today to be pre approved to buy a new house. I will be going on mat leave end of October. I assume we will be approved by then but don’t know if we will close on a property that soon. What is the process for being on mat leave with a mortgage approval? If I get a letter from my employer stating that/when I will return to work will financing likely be declined? Looking for any personal experiences. Thanks!

Shoulder drivers

Has this always been a thing? Why is it so bad on the 401 lately- people driving up the shoulder when stuck in traffic just to cut you off (and still be stuck in traffic). Currently sitting on the 401 (as a passenger- due to the latest crash at brock this afternoon) and people are literally turning around and driving up the wrong side of the eastbound lane ON the shoulder and in the lanes. Where is the law enforcement? I’m just baffled.. rant over..

Best splash pad?

Ahead of the long weekend - just wondering what the best splash pad+ park is in the area (ideally Whitby/oshawa if possible). We recently checked out the new rose valley community park which is really cool, but it doesn’t have a splash pad. Trying to find somewhere new to take my 4 year old. Thanks in advance!

Exempt from in office days? [ON]

I am lucky to be able to work from home every day, except for 1 in office day a month. I know it might seem silly but my commute is quite long and the day they always select coincides with my Dr. appointment days. Has anyone successfully be able to request to be exempt from in office days? I’m 7 months and it is a high risk pregnancy.

VW specialist ?

Can anyone recommend a mechanic that specializes in Volkswagen? I’ve got a 2013 gti that needs a new turbo and would prefer not to get ripped off at OWASCO..

Replace the turbo?

I have a 2013 gti (Wolfsburg edition)- just over 200,000 km- has been having some issues for a bit. The current codes displayed as current pending/permanent are: P0030 - H02s heater control circuit bank 1 sensor 1 & P0299- turbo charger / super charger under boost conditions (somehow these two came up as 6 different codes). Anyway- took it to my mechanic and he said the turbo is going and once it does the car is a write off. Just looking for any opinions or experiences on this? Is it worth fixing or is the car really a write off. Apparently the cost to fix it would be around $5k (CAD) not sure if it’s worth fixing at this point or getting a new vehicle. Any insight would be appreciated!

New car/ new house

We have a bit of a dilemma- my husbands car is about to die (2014 VW gti, turbo is going) and he needs a car to get to work. I am 7 months pregnant and we are looking to sell our starter home and get something bigger, preferably within a year or less. I know it is not advisable to take out any new loan before applying for a mortgage, but as we cannot pay cash for a vehicle that would be our only option. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? How long after financing a car should we wait to apply for a new mortgage. Feeling stuck.

Hair salon recommendation

Hello- can anyone recommend a (female) hair stylist- preferably in Whitby/oshawa? I’ve been going to the same person downtown Toronto for about 10 years but am wanting something closer. Just looking for a basic cut but ideally someone with several years of experience. Thanks in advance!
