Have to preface this by saying I don't drive at all. + Priority is cutting costs.
I'm coming into Newport for the Newport Folk Festival next month for Friday and Saturday. Was mainly looking at taking the Amtrak and was also considering maybe a Flixbus or Greyhound.
If I'm taking the Amtrak, should I take it into Providence and then get on a ferry/bus to Newport? Or are there better Amtrak stations to get off at?
How much time should I leave for getting to/from Newport? Is 1.5 hours a good estimate?

didn't get all the good stuff, from what i can remember there was also a holographic fanny pack that ayrloom garden club was giving out, and slurpee was also giving out some stuff (from what i've seen - fans, shirts, and pom poms)?
my haul breakdown:
- shirt & spray: from the recycling station (you collect a giant bag's worth of recyclables and they give you a free shirt and spray), saves you from having to buy festival merch with the lineup for $40 and is a pretty unique design (only saw a couple of other people doing this lol)
- hat: beatbox were doing airbrush hats from 5-8pm today, get in line early else you'd have to wait. you can choose the colors you want the artist to spray in, but the letters all say beatbox
- custom bandana: depop drop in, specifically the money grab. don't expect to win the money grab prize unless you're realllll good at it (they only have 34 winners everyday. so.) but they do do custom bandanas and the artists are really talented! you can tell them to do pretty much any sort of lettering and i've seen some really really good designs in line. wait is really long though so i'd suggest line up early
