SELLING A “I LOVE BOOSTERS” + Q&A with BOOTS RILEY TICKET FOR TONIGHT

Unfortunately had a last minute change of plans and I’m going upstate tonight, so missing my screening at 7:45. Literally bought this a month before too 🥲 missing out on the Q&A but would love to sell my ticket to someone who actually wants to go instead of refunding kinda last minute. It’s at AMC Magic Johnson in Harlem! ♥️

Odyssey opening weekend prime time tickets dropped

EDIT: I was incorrect these were the showtimes that dropped a few months ago

Prime time opening weekend tickets for the odyssey just dropped at Lincoln square.

Nearly sold out 15 minutes later.

I got notified right when they dropped from a web app I built to try to get tickets. https://drop70mm.com

Don’t miss out when next seats drop!

How do you all keep up to date with upcoming movies?

How do you all usually find out what you want to watch? And what additional research do you do?

For me for example, I'm checking the AMC app, rotten tomatoes, and the Angelika newsletter. Then, I'm doing research on ratings, movie formats, languages, etc. Or I see buzz on X.

Do you wish any of this could be aggregated or simplified for you?

Disclosure Day: IMAX Live Pre-Show Q&A with Steven Spielberg, June 12, AMC Lincoln Square

This is not live yet, but here's the description:

"Live from the AMC Lincoln Square IMAX in New York, Steven Spielberg and Emily Blunt will gather to celebrate the launch of Disclosure Day and treat fans to an exclusive Q&A followed by a screening of the film."

It sounds like this might be live streamed across the country, but would live for the Lincoln Square IMAX audience. My guess is when these tickets to go on sale, they'll sell out in like 5 minutes.

Beyond the 'bougie:' A first-timer's guide to the Tribeca Festival

"Tribeca Film Festival" often conjures thoughts of bougie thousand-dollar movie passes or famous people schmoozing at The Odeon. But after exploring the last few years, New York Groove contributor Valerie Askinazi is happy to share that the Tribeca Festival (as it’s now officially known) can also be fun for local New Yorkers. She put together a guide on hacking the fest for first-timers. Some highlights:

  • Free events: There will be free outdoor screenings of previous Tribeca favorites like Jiro Dreams of Sushi and high-fashion documentary Dior and I next to the Vessel in Hudson Yards.
  • Weekday matinee pass: This is $100 + $10 fee, so $110 total. A matinee movie costs $16 + $4 fee, so the pass is worth it if you plan to see at least six movies.
  • Rush tickets: Tribeca reserves a certain number of seats at each showing for unlimited pass-holders (people who can go to whatever films they want without reserving tickets beforehand). There’s a good chance that not all seats are filled and that tickets will be sold to the rush line.

She also put together her picks for this year's fest, including:

  • Mario, a documentary on Mario Cuomo, and New York in the 1980s.
  • The Last Play at Shea (free), a 2010 documentary about Billy Joel’s final shows at Shea Stadium before it was demolished.
  • Doc Meets World, a documentary for fans of the ‘90s TV show Boy Meets World.
  • Never Change, a comedy about returning to high-school in your 30s (with a local cast, including the great Jo Firestone).

Check out the whole guide here if you've never tried the festival before, and let us know if you have other picks we missed.

VIP Pass - NewFest Stop That Train ticket

Hey everyone, festival newbie here with a quick ticketing question!

I bought a 2026 NewFest Pride VIP Pass, mainly for the reserved seating perk, and used it to secure a ticket for the Stop That Train opening night premiere. However, the festival website now lists the screening as “ON RUSH."

I’ve never dealt with festival rush lines before, so I’m a bit confused. Does my VIP ticket guarantee me entry into the theater, or does "On Rush" mean my ticket just gives me the right to join the standby line? Also, how does the "reserved seating" aspect actually work at the SVA Theatre if my digital ticket doesn't have an assigned seat number?

I tried reaching out to NewFest via email and socials but haven't heard back yet. If any past VIP pass holders or NewFest veterans could break down how this works, I’d super appreciate it!

To the person who went alone and would not stop checking their phone at the AMC Lincoln Sq imax 4pm dubbed screening of Arrietty: are you OK?

How does one, of their own volition, buy an imax ticket to a 16 year old film with subtitles, at one of the most iconic screens in new york, but also has so little respect for film or the people in the room with you that you also had to squeeze in a couple tiktoks? Check all your text messages? Like genuinely amazed how someone could thread that particular venn diagram.

No I did not say anything, as ive learned, no matter how politely you ask other people they lash out like crazy. Dire scenes out there folks.

Arrietty amazing tho. I said dubbed but I meant subbed. Whoops!

Tribeca Film Festival premiere tickets available!

(Since a Tribeca Film Festival Megathread does not exist yet) Found out I have to travel out of town during Tribeca Film Festival, but I have tickets to 2 great premieres and I was hoping a fellow NYC cinephile might want to take them off my hands! Please message me if you're interested, I would hate for them to go to waste.

EDIT: JUST SOLD Saturday June 6 at 5pm EST: Happy Hours (1st screening premiere, Sold Out). This is the Katie Holmes & Joshua Jackson romantic drama. OXK Theater at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center (199 Chambers St). One General Admission Tier 3 ticket. I paid $38, I'd be happy to sell for $30.

EDIT: JUST SOLD Saturday June 6 at 8pm EST: The Last Day (1st screening premiere) This is an Alicia Vikander, Victoria Pedretti and Wagner Moura drama about 2 mothers in NYC whose lives intertwine in a modern day interpretation of Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway. D.A. Pennebaker's DONT LOOK BACK + Q&A with Chris Hegedus - Wed., May 27 at 7 PM at The Paris Theater - FREE tickets with RSVP

I tried posting this earlier but it was deleted by Reddit's filters. I think it's because I included the Paris Theater's direct link to RSVP. They do this whenever they give out free tickets to certain screenings, but you basically go to the RSVP page and give your contact info and how many tickets you want (one or two). Then they put you on a list and they'll email you to confirm all this. It's first come, first serve, and when you show up at the theater, they'll let you know which seats to take.

I'm not sure if the RSVP link can be posted, but FWIW, if you go on Facebook, look for the Paris Theater's Facebook ad for this offer, and that ad will have the link.

EDIT: See the comments, but dordotson was able to post a working link.

Would you be upset if someone had tonkatsu ramen as a movie snack

Hypothetically,
If someone arrived on time and during previews they pull out a half eaten lukewarm bowl of spicy tonkatsu ramen next to u and unlid it and then as the movie begins they start eating, would it be upsetting? Has this happened to u before??

Making a Film Pilgrimage to NYC

I'm heading to NYC next week and was very delighted to come across this sub. I've perused all of the events that are posted, but my question is: are there any theaters worth visiting on their own right? For example, if I did not have the time to commit and watch a film at a given showtime, but had 30 minutes to an hour to kill, are there theaters that are museum-like or worth visiting standalone? Or any with resources for filmmakers.

Any specific pointers are greatly appreciated. My interests capture all of filmmaking.

Thank you!!!

EDIT: These responses are so wonderful! Thank you for taking the time to suggest so many awesome opportunities & places!! I’ll update this post after the trip on where I ended up going.
