The more I heal the more I remember - anyone else started getting flashbacks?

I’ve been on a healing journey for a few years now by essentially facing my past, not trying to escape the pain and also leaving the area I was born / raised in / dragged up in.

One thing I have noticed is my brain is brining up memories I thought I completely forgot / buried.

Some are mildly traumatic memories and others are just random.

My theory is I was in survival mode for so long I didn’t have much time to truly reflect or hold onto memories as I was always waiting for the next penny to drop.

¡Muchas gracias!

The more I leave cyberspace the more I come back to a world that doesn't exist anymore..

I've starting to massively cut back on screen time / smart phone / gaming etc and get back out "into the world"..

However the issue I'm noticing is that the fun, offline world that I left in 2012-2016 when smart phones really started to ramp up simply doesn't exist anymore.

Yes I can try taking up hobbies, reading, running, exercising etc but the issue is what made pre-smart phone days special was there was stuff going on offline and now days that stuff unless its pre-arranged special events just doesn't seem to exist anymore and not in the same way.

So the issue I face now is not only do I need to work out how cut down screen time but its also how to navigate this barren offline world where people only seem to visit in small doses these days.

It feels like a gaming server where people only check in / play for short periods or when they visit they are still distracted by the online world so are never fully immersed in the offline world.

I remember if I wanted to have phone in the 2010's i'd actually have to put effort in to go out and do things by my brain has been so friend by tech companies social media slot machine dopamine hits that anything outside of cyberspace just doesn't even come close to having the same magic it used to.

With other addictions before this massive societal shift that the internet has caused like being addicted to alcohol for example, when you finally got off the drug and back into society yeah your friends lives might have changed a bit and a few companies might have come and gone but you could slowly find your way back into your place in the world. However coming off of screentime addiction what I'm finding is the world has changed so much that what I'm trying to find my way back into is a world that largely no longer exists. It's not just that I've changed because of screens—the world outside has changed with them. So recovery isn't simply about putting the phone down; it's about learning how to live in a society that has also become organised around the phone.

For those who have been to prison in the last few years - did you notice any smartphone withdrawal?

Serious post not trying to be disrespectful, I'm trying to break my smart phone addiction and I'm wondering how people who have gone to prison who had high screen time found going without the internet/phone.

I understand this is probably a minor concern when going to prison but for some its probably the first time in the last few years they've been without their phone.
