The Willamette Valley on a sunny fall day is beyond gorgeous! 27 mile loop today, my second big ride on the Primos Dame Plus.

Some big hills, lots of wildlife, lots of beautiful scenery.

After an injury halted my trail running, I got pretty depressed. The gravel bike is proving to be one of the biggest tools for getting me back into a more positive headspace! Time out in nature, physical exertion, pushing the limits of what's comfortable, and just playing. Having fun. That's where it's at!

I was biking along 99W just north of Monmouth this morning. It was pretty foggy but for about 5 minutes the sun was trying to break through. As I was heading north, there was a persistent white arc to the NW. I stopped to try to figure out what it was and it was this. A fogbow? Is that a thing? It's a first for me!

After commuting on the bike for the last two weeks, I finally got it out on gravel!

This is my first gravel bike so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it was a blast! Trail running is my true love but persistent plantar fasciitis has me off running for a while. A gravel bike felt like a good way to get some of that trail vibe in the meantime.

\-It's not trail running but it's checking a lot of the same boxes. Nature, a little risk, focus, and fun.

\-There was a lot of relearning how to ride. Un-shrimping, getting the weight off my hands, etc... Nothing will remind you to get your weight on your feet faster than hitting washboard at 20mph.

Basically, it was a blast. The bike did everything I needed it to. The microsword shifters are pretty slick now that I'm used to them, and I can't wait to get back out there!

Just got my Primos Dame Plus today! Just enough time to build it and take it around the block a few times! Still need to get the seat adjustment just right, but it's a comfy bike and I think it's a head turner for a budget gravel bike!

We were at Cobble Beach in Newport on Mother's Day and someone had set this on one of the big rocks. It's super light and seems to be a seabird pelvis? Too big for a hull, I think. Does anyone have a better ID?

Just to add, it was an incredible day with pretty much nonstop whale sightings, seal pups (viewed from an appropriate distance) and perfect weather!

I LOVE this pic. I've been doing some nature/macro shots with proper gear but this was a quick phone pic.

We were at the coast and I looked down and this is exactly what I saw. The rock is only about an inch across. 15 seconds later it was gone in the surf.

I guess I feel like I can't separate the context from the content. Idk if I'd like it if I thought it had been composed this way.

I also can't determine whether the lack of scale is a positive or a negative here.

7 free assorted mbuna cichlids ranging from 2" to 5". The biggest are the scrapermouth (trewavasei) and the Maingano. The rest are the result of funny business in the tank over the last few years.

Please know what you're getting into with mbuna. They've been easy to keep but it's time to change directions with this tank!
