Surgeon thinks SADI is right for me

I consulted with my surgeon today because I need a panniculectomy (pannus removal) due to Lymphedema, but am still at a high weight. I have lost 85 pounds on my own since December, but hit a stall around 3 months ago. Up down, up/down.

Because I am still in the high 300’s and have a sweet tooth, he is recommending SADI for me, as it is best suited for major weight loss and won’t allow me heavy sugars or I’ll pay for it, so I’ll kind of train myself out of the sweet tooth.

I guess now I see if I can afford it. My insurance only covers $5,000. Did your surgeons offer payment plans? Did you have to use something like Care Credit?

Really appreciate the encouragement. Any tips you may have, please let me know.

Oh, and…how long did you stay in the hospital? Thanks!

Are We More Prone to UTIs?

I’m curious to know if others have had repeat cases of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) since beginning treatment.

I know that we are immune suppressed, so it makes sense that we are more susceptible to bacterial infections, but I’m curious to know how many of you are finding yourselves dealing with this on a reoccurring basis.

It seems as though once I developed my first one, I was not able to get it to fully clear. We went through multiple rounds of antibiotics for about six months. Finally, I asked my doctor to re-test me, and it came back clear, only to start having symptoms again five days later.

Thanks! 😊

Epinephrine Now OK in Dental Practice: Per ADSHG

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to pin this link to the top of our subreddit, but Mod tools are acting wonky right now, so it will have to wait.

In the meantime, I wanted to post a note that dental guidelines and recommendations have been adjusted regarding the use of epinephrine per AddisonsDisease.org.uk.

Though it is still necessary to updose for certain dental procedures, it is now thought that dental anesthetics containing adrenaline are appropriate for use in adrenal insufficiency patients.

hEDS with AI?

I was just diagnosed with Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS).

Am I crazy, or have MANY of you mentioned having this as a comorbidity to AI?

Now I’m wondering how much of the fatigue and dizziness is attributed to AI or hEDS?

Can any of you share your experiences or thoughts with me? What did getting this diagnosis do to change your life? Were any medications added to your routine? Did you change how you exercised, how you generally approached activity? How were you able to differentiate between AI symptoms vs the hEDS? What did it feel like, living with hEDS before your diagnosis? Did you hurt all the time? I’m interested in anything you have to share. 😊

Thanks so much! ❤️

Infrequent Loud Clunk on Start

I have a 2026 XLT Sport (2,000 miles), and intermittently, when I first start the truck, I’ll hear a fairly loud clunk coming from the underside. This is before I release the electronic emergency brake.

Any ideas as to what this could be?

Strange Weight Loss Pattern

Hi all!

I was on Ozempic for three years and it did absolutely nothing for me. In fact, I gained weight. I switched to Mounjaro on December 1st, 2025, and have lost 85 pounds in those 6 months. I am on 10mg a week. My A1C went from 6.6% to 5.6% in three months. So, I’m having great success.

Question…my body has been following a strange pattern in weight loss. My weight will go down, up, down, up (.2 to 3 pounds a day) almost like a plateau for a week or even two, and then BOOM overnight, I’ll drop (literally) 8-10 pounds. Obviously, this is water weight coming off at the end, but each time, after I have a big plunge, it resets my low number baseline, and I’ll start having the up, down, up, down again, except with lower numbers.

I am happy about this because, while the plateaus cause me frustration, I am steadily losing. I’m just wondering, is anyone’s pattern similar to mine? And if so, do you know why this is happening?

I should add that I have Lipo-Lymphedema, which is Lipodema that progressed through all severity stages undiagnosed/untreated until it turned to Lymphedema, and then it was noticed. So, now I have a combination of the two, and lymphatic fluid/water is definitely a component of my body morphology.

Curious to hear of others’ experiences. Thank you!

Hello all!

I’m a 53 year old female counting months to see if I’m truly in menopause. I blew straight through peri, I believe, without realizing it because I was taking an oral birth control pill (which I have now discontinued). I have adrenal insufficiency and my adrenals don’t produce DHEA, therefore, my T is nonexistent.

I have been chasing after a resolution through T supplementation for a year and a half now. I started with cream, gradually increasing dose up to 10mg per day. Then, I went to sublingual troches, the equivalent of 10mg a day. Neither resolved lack of libido, muscle weakness, etc.

I changed providers to one who would prescribe injections, and she started me on test cyp 5mg, twice a week. No improvement in symptoms. We fiddled around with estrogen patches and progesterone pills, changing dose, etc, but still didn’t find resolution. My provider gave me free rein to experiment with upping my test cyp injection and just told me what signs to watch for in terms of over replacement. My blood levels looked much better on the injections vs cream or troches, but I still only had a T of 60 when she said I could go as high as 180 (ultimately, she cares less about numbers and more about results).

At first, I experimented with 6mg twice a week. Still no change. Then, I went to 7mg twice a week. Started to feel a little better, but still not there. Last week, I went to 8mg twice a week and BOOM, results. I was like a sex kitten last week with my libido and my muscles felt better and hot flashes better. But, I’m concerned to be injecting that high as it seems the average woman is good on 10mg per week. I also have one additional question.

Is 16mg a week just way too much for a woman? I have no acne, excess hair, etc. I’m just feeling better.

A second issue I’m having is that it takes about 12 hours to kick in after injection, I spend 2 days feeling great, then a day feeling like total crap again before I inject. Is it reasonable to take that 16mg and divide by 3 and inject 3 times a week instead of two,to keep the levels more stable in my bloodstream?

Thank you for any and all feedback! 🤗
