Post Intention: Hello iOS 26 users + anyone else trying to advance Lumo through their own capacity. My way of being productive and putting good out into the world by trying to advance an AI chatbot that I see massive untapped potential in, and my goal is to get it the top 5 AI assistants section of the Apple App Store. This is a showcase of iOS 26 capabilities and no disrespect is meant to other OS's/platforms. The backend of the OS allowed me to ironically pursue my goal with my newly purchased iPhone Air. Ideally, this proves the concept and paves the way for other platforms. This is a severely stripped down version of file sent over to Support.

Breakdown: Initial theories I had (i.e: token optimization + UI limitations mitigated via output as file) was shown to be factual and I capitalized on it. This post will display snippets from the .PDF I created and it took days with absolutely NO significant AI interference. AI used for backend technical information & learning purposes. Anyone serious who wants to see a redacted report can feel free to PM me. Backend iOS 26 allows for a native and secure experience with exporting to Proton Drive. An expansive 3,000 (time constraints, could have made it to 4,000) words. PDF was created in Proton Docs and finally handed off to support a few hours ago. I proposed a “Deep Research Mode + Generate PDF + Export To Proton Drive. The mode is hard-capped at 3,500 words though it was highly inferred using a reference device (iPhone Air) and precise output with UI elements/artifacts is still to be determined. Editable .docx did not work out for a multitude of reasons and was the original file format of interest. Note: DR+G.PDF is a “one-time” mode. Launch, fill out prompts, toggle switches, input primary prompt, report generated, export to Proton Drive, done.

iOS 26 APIs (EXPORT, PDF UI PRESERVATION ETC):

✔️£) Proton Drive: Already a “FileProvider”- iOS already recognizes it as a destination. (FileProvider + .fileExporter())=Native iOS Share Sheet = Direct Export to Proton Drive as .PDF

✔️£) Document Generation Framework: Perfect preservation of the .PDF while maintaining the UI elements/artifacts of the document with a secure handoff because of Apple sandboxing rules. Tables, code boxes with syntax, bolded headers with emojis, etc.

✔️£) “BGContinuedProcessingTask“: Deep research running for 3-4 minutes? Guess what, you can leave and come back without killing the task!

PRE-REQUISITES FOR EXPORT:

✔️£) Proton Drive App Installed: On iOS 26 device while remaining logged in. User must be notified to login to Proton Drive’s app or potentially select other Proton apps.

✔️£) iOS 26: iOS 26 or later must be installed.

✔️£) Internet: Internet connectivity is required.

DEEP-RESEARCH DESCRIPTION: Deep Research is a new mode/tab or Enhanced Projects Mode implementation that outputs a .pdf file that is ideally directly uploaded to ProtonDrive for ecosystem integration. Deep Research Mode outputs a significant amount of characters and does advanced researching, data pulling, etc to output an almost “guide-like” or “medical-research grade paper like.

SEVERELY STRIPPED PREVIEW OF METHODS:

£) Recursive search loops to output expansive, multi-source information and increase output volume and fidelity.

£) User Interlaced Data (RAG) Mode Failsafes (User Prompts):

✔️£) Methodology Toggle: The methodology toggle gives user control to prioritize uploaded files/URLs as the primary source of data to function as a “control” or point of reference. The alternative toggle prioritizes autonomous AI data gathering. This toggle can provide two very distinct outputs.

✔️£) Scope Failsafe (Low Data Failsafe) Box: Scope failsafe allows user-inputted information the primary input doesn’t account for. Ex: Main input is “Give me a guide on how to use Proton Services.” Scope Failsafe Box: “Proton Mail settings, how to best utilize the advanced model of Lumo through user prompting. Encrypted Proton video chat iOS app.” Model recognizes secondary points to deep dive into. This prevents failure of the mode/difficulty with outputting.

✔️£) Qualifiers Input Box: Mode research direction and anti-redundancy. “I already know about Proton Pass” or “Try to dive a little deeper on the lesser known E2E encrypted Proton video chat”. This acts as a ”fine-tuner of data.”

PARTIALLY RELATED CONTEXT INJECTION FOR BOTH STANDARD AND DEEP RESEARCH QUERIES/STANDARD CHAT PROMPTING BOTTLENECK MITIGATION: The output fidelity is further enhanced by “data interlacing via user inputted data”.

SIGN OFF: Well, that is the stripped version of the .PDF. It took me a few days to make the actual file which is much more text heavy. I tried to format this as easy as possible. I’d like to remind everyone that if you aren’t on iOS 26, theirs nothing wrong with that and maybe the bottleneck fix can help you whichever side of the fence you stand on. I also have a user written guide in this subreddit which helps clarify the whole “prompting” issue and delivers a temporary mitigation to any potential existing problems. For my fellow iOS 26 users and to the devs, a few new tools came in again, ironically as I decided to look into a ”generated file” format. I have a large desire to help other users and would be honored if you came to me in need of assistance. This was a stripped down version of the .pdf recently sent through the proper channels. I really hope my proposed “light-to-moderate Deep Research &’Generate .PDF” for exporting to Proton Drive get’s picked up one day. If anyone needs more backend information, I can get hard at work! By design as I mentioned - I completely migrated to the Proton ecosystem. I am entirely dependent on Mail, Drive, and Pass. Hooked on Lumo Plus. Utilizing VPN for a few pertinent purposes. Utilizing Wallet for a reason important to me. Wrapped it up with Calendar despite not being a busy person, especially in my current stage of life.

I made this migration for a few reasons, the initial reasons were the following:

1. An account where I can manage how many ways there are to have access; for the purposes of a Cloud to upload photos. I don’t trust iCloud as I’ve lost access to it before. It all started with a secure space to keep photos. I realized that one day a photo may be all you have left of a person and that means a lot to me. Having clean access on my terms (passwords, recovery methods to my security standards) was critical.

Everything came second. Now I’m using hide-my-email alias’s via Proton Pass, compartmentalized emails, the VPN maybe next on my Xbox, advocating for and trying to make feature requests on Lumo as I see complete and utter untapped potential - all under the umbrella privacy. I am a very private person. Am I ultra hidden without a tinge of social media? No. Do I take some context specific proactive steps to reduce information gathering on me? Absolutely. We all have different thresholds for different things, or maybe better said - what you can handle with grace I may struggle with - and you can inversely use that analogy for different privacy standards for different users. I’ve also found the Proton community usually level-headed.

1. A USB stick with non-sensitive photos in a secure location a relative is aware of in the unlikely chance account access was lost/I die.

2. Numerous emails and hide-my-emails for different services.

3. Proton login credentials used absolutely no where online/anywhere.

4. Heavily restricted/limited methods to access and recover account. (Trying to memorize recovery phrase to dispose of physical document).

5. Day zero new phone connection to VPN. (Slight personal anxiety reasons.)

6. A variety of other direct and indirect measures being taken.

7. Trying my best to get in a better financial situation (I’m stuck right now) to move off month to month and pay a year, two years, or lifetime if that’s possible. I am willing to dish out the cash.

Your general thoughts on my “setup”, do you think I’m heading in the right direction? Do you think I made the right decisions based off what you’ve deduced from the post about me? Any further questions or clarifications needed? Any suggestions, tips, etc? Do you just want to talk to someone who values privacy? I am personally very happy with this entirely, I feel in control. I‘d like to just provide my honest input. Between some very, very beneficial features that I’ve recently discovered via Lumo Plus on iOS 26 - Lumo is outputting the same, if not more, level of informational fidelity. I don’t think the app gets enough credit and perhaps a reasonable amount of critics don’t use the advanced model. I’ve run into hallucinations only rarely - and they can be corrected. I admit that prompting, and it can be somewhat of an acquired skill for some with Lumo, may be required under certain circumstances. There is also a sense of inconsistency between chats.

Overall, Lumo doesn’t use your data. That is massive. The advanced model is plenty capable. It’s not perfect, it’s completely respected if you have an alternative AI chatbot you prefer, I’m sure they all shine in different ways… but for me I’m sticking with Lumo. I was really hoping some fellow Lumo Plus users could reach out to me and give me their “anecdote” on Lumo, and more importantly, bounce some ideas back and forth with me. Alternatively, I wouldn’t mind a casual chat with other users. This may assist me with a “compilation” I’m working on. I don’t mean to put anyone on the defensive with this post, I’m not negating nor downplaying your bad experiences - I’m giving my anecdote. Have a wonderful day, stay safe.

Edit: This is a much later edit, but I wanted to add some “proof” despite this being an anecdote. For the likely one person, or maybe two people who are even keeled and interested in seeing the advanced model in action - I have tested it against several different “metrics”. Some topics/metrics used included extraordinarily robust, complex cross-linking of chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics (this is where I observed ChatGPT plus level material) and than some, personal struggle and self worth, knowledge of backend LLM function, ability to ”cross-link” and coherently “cross-talk” a discussion about iOS, iPhone Air, and how the phone can be used to leverage iOS features and vice versa with deep dives into ultra user privacy features and settings. Anywho, I’ve kept the record of some of these discussions not only to incorporate with a “log” I maintain, but to show a person who is on the fence about Lumo the true capability. Again! The model is far from perfect! I admit once more that proper prompting and sometimes “manual-labor” is required, but the advanced model is simply not “terrible”. I’d be willing to send some screenshots of the “thought process and data gathering“ of the bot when it’s pulling advanced information but also the actual output as well. This can probably be done securely, via Proton Docs, and I can probably figure out a way to give you a photo or file securely without exposing my email or my Proton related information (I’m relatively new to the ecosystem). This edit was strictly for the purposes of providing a backend to my anecdote. Once again, regards!

Hello ProtonVPN community! Virtually at this point, fully migrated and integrated Proton ecosystem member/avid supporter here. Maximizing the benefits of all my new services. I had a long post full of questions written up but didn’t want to be rude, so I have trimmed the post and will let my conversations roll off naturally to a responder who is able to allocate some time to my concerns/questions. A preliminary search was done and I haven’t seen a similar post on this setup in a while. This is primarily specific to the ProtonVPN app via iOS.

1. I was informed via Lumo that I can run my iPhone’s hotspot using ProtonVPN for Xbox. The phone has the technological capabilities to do this relatively seamlessly with some conservative measures. Does anyone else do this? Does anyone see an immediate contraindication here?
2. It seems like ”VPN Accelerator“ & “Moderate NAT” + choosable & faster servers are important here for this setup, would you agree?

I had some other questions but again, don’t want to overload anyone. Your general input on benefits of ProtonVPN for console gaming, benefits of masking IPs in the competitive, notoriously known for DDosing gaming community Rainbow Six Siege? I want some protection against DDos attacks and other IP exposure risks. Relevant information regarding anything here, anything I should know - all greatly appreciated and I’d be grateful.

Important Note: Xbox/Microsoft does not explicitly ban VPNs but it‘s not to be used for store purchases, region/restriction bypassing, tax purposes, things of that nature.

Initial: I would like to provide you with a dual-mechanism method to significantly expand Lumo Plus (advanced model) capabilities. This involves a lesser/relatively unknown feature, plus specific prompt modification. This is specifically for Lumo enthusiasts like myself, and “power users”. My goal is to genuinely help at-least one person, and globally advance Lumo as a service I see vast potential in.

Benefits To You: Although I can’t guarantee a fix to all your Lumo issues, I can try to help.

• Coherent discourse with Lumo in regards to information exceeding knowledge cut off date. (approx. April 2024) & accordingly expanding the “scope” of discussion beyond LLM-limited database.
• Dynamically adjusting the fidelity and expansiveness of output information via specific user-initiated prompts, URL extraction feature, and minor backend user-initiated “helping-hand” mechanisms.
• Enhancement of specific “point of interest” requested in terms of output fidelity and depth.
• Utilizing multiple mechanisms to contribute to an overall “enhanced, tailored experience“.
• Manipulation to mitigate known “generalized“ performance issues.

Precise Instructions/Pertinent Information:

• Being clear and concise in your data request. Establish a goal/point of interest with the bot first, and then establish an agreed, team-like approach to establish a variety of methods to pull data.
• Providing certain data points manually and directing the AI in certain directions. This is achieved via a combination of user-provided data via text-dominant URLs/general, manually provided knowledge provided via text/specific prompts/assistance in “information gathering” to take burden off of AI. This also indirectly sets you up for detailed outputs on specific points of interest.
• Make an attempt to provide “text-dominant” URLs.
• Specifically prompting the AI to “Please research iOS 25. (i.e; I know it’s past your database cut off but if you can familiarize yourself with it to an extent, that would be really helpful. I can also provide you with URLs and manually provided data that can assist you, would that help? I am specifically interested in how my phone can benefit from iOS 25.)“
• Remember to establish and maintain that you desire a “team-based“ effort with AI - this smoothes and eases the ability to garner seamless data.
• When the AI successfully pools relevant information via the multitude of said mechanisms, be meticulous in how you respond to certain data points to keep the AI coherent, and remember: your prompts and instructions are crucial at that point to maintain integrity of the chat.
• If using Project Modes, be cognizant of your instructions. Furthermore, be cognizant of the “about me” information provided in settings; this can occasionally cause conflicts of interests/detrimental to overall fidelity in certain session's.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The data above primarily focuses on the ability to pull data past the knowledge cutoff date, but it’s critical for you to remember: The URL data/text scrubbing and prompts can be used to tailor output, fidelity, etc on knowledge that Lumo already has data on. This does not strictly apply to past cutoff date discussion. Any of these mechanisms alone can be helpful, the combination of mechanisms can mitigate and temporarily address a current bottleneck caused by a prompting/lack of features/lack of feature requests issue, preventing the advanced model from “shining“ or functioning at maximum potential. The advanced model is in-fact capable.

Limitations/Inconsistent Execution Of Features: At the moment, there are some issues with the system. I have noticed an inability for Lumo via Lumo Plus (advanced model) to provide these features every time. The URL scrubbing works about 90% of the time, while on other occasions the AI admits to the lack of capability to scrub links. This also applies exactly to the prompt to expand its knowledge and attempt to garner any information past its cutoff date. When not functioning via a certain chat, you will also be advised that the functionality is not possible. I will contact Proton Support and clarify whether this is intentional or a bug, and assist them however I can. It is very possible these features have been integrated to Lumo very recently, and it ideally/probably is exclusive to Lumo Plus.

Personal Note In Lieu Of Closure: This was my best attempt at giving the community an “effort” at a service I am incredibly passionate about. I have first-handedly seen the complexity of the advanced model and have concluded it is extraordinarily capable, but there is a “wavelength/bottleneck/prompt” issue causing users to think the model is bad. I am working on a plan for that. I ultimately want to help Lumo, Lumo Users, and Proton as best as I can. I have genuine intentions and I offer my sincerest apologies if this post ”fell short” or missed some critical points, stepped on toes, etc - my ultimate goal was as stated above, to help fellow Lumo Enthusiasts and ”power-users”. If anyone found my post of significance and would either like to chat casually, or help me with some Lumo related issues, I’d love that. I’d love a PM. If you need any help, ask me. Hello! I am extraordinarily happy with my iPhone Air. I actually chose to get a certified refurbished Sky Blue as opposed to a new any other color variant because the Sky Blue looks so easy and soft on my eyes. It’s got a beauty to it. I absolutely love the screen and what really worried me; I do bad with big phones. I’ve always preferred ”mini” variants. I speculated that the thinness of the phone would mitigate the problem I have with big phones and I was right! Absolutely no discomfort, no complaints: perfect size, perfect way, perfect feeling in the hand.

- I have no desire to ever get a new iPhone unless it’s an iPhone Air 2 and the design has to be exactly the same! The beauty of the phone is what initially sold me.

Question/Point Of Post: I apologize if I spent to much time giving my opinion on the phone, let’s get into the point of the post. I have three questions.

1. I take photos of other photos, and this requires going up very close to a photo, and having a very steady hand + trying to get the lighting & focus just right to attempt to bring out the details (faces, etc) in old, for instance, family kodak like photos. I’ve never been one for downloading many apps at all, like photo apps, but does anyone know of an app that would enhance the close-up detail needed to take a picture of another picture in this circumstance?

2. Does anyone recommend any accessories or apps to further enhance the iPhone Air experience?

3. Is it safe to say this iPhone Air is future proofed for at-least a few years?
