Looking to get a Caricature done

Hello,

I am not an artist at all, and am hoping I can maybe find one here willing to draw a caricature.

I am a regular visitor to our local food bank. One of the people who run it is having a birthday soon. I am putting together a gift from those of us who she helps, and I would really like to put a caricature of her on the front of her card that we are making.

I don't have a lot of money but also don't like to ask for work for free, so if you are okay with working for cheap and interested, please let me know.

Caricature?

Hello,

Someone who runs a food pantry I attend here in Lex is having a birthday soon, and I am trying to make a little personal card for them.

I would love to have a caricature drawn for the front. Can anyone do this for cheap (I visit a food pantry, so, obvs broke as a joke).

Esther Perel Episode

Full transparency I do not have a Q spouse or close family member. I lurk here because I have been watching this Q thing since it began with concern set at 11.

This is an episode of the podcast Where Should We Begin by Esther Perel. She is a famous therapist and has written books about relationships (Mating in Captivity). On her podcast she has a therapy session with a person or couple who she doesn't know.

In this episode the question is about AI but the more she talked the more I heard all the voices I hear here. All the people who are bending over backwards to find a way to make this be okay, to reframe disrespect into difference, to embrace heartbreak as a connection to your feelings, to find a path forward.

I just think this might belong here.

Tire Exploded, Now What (Update)

Here is a link to my original post with the background explained:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TireQuestions/s/omvILZwXfL

So after my post (thank you for your advice!) I went back to shop, paid them the $50, said thank you, and went home. The next time I drove the car was the next day, in the evening.

The car seemed fine, I drove on the highway for like 15 minutes, and picked up my husband. We stopped at a gas station to fill up and this is what he sees. Tire flat. Totally. Front driver. Same tire that was just replaced. Checked it and can't see any reason it's flat. No holes, tears, nails, etc.

So I send that pic to the shop. They call me back and he offers to refund my $50 and send me off to buy a tire elsewhere. I tell him I'm not convinced that addresses the problem.

- Maybe this brand of tire is just terrible, in which case I have still paid 2x the regular price for them and now have to buy 1 (but probably 2) new ones.

- Maybe the new-to-me rim he sold me is the culprit here. Because the other tire seems to be fine? In which case I would need to buy a new rim, and potentially 1 or 2 new tires.

He goes on to tell me that it was fine when he put it on and he just cannot know what all I did to it since yesterday. I am friends with his wife, so needless to say he showed up at my door at 8:30 this morning basically anti bartering with me until I was happy. Ultimately I stopped him at $400. I don't know if that's fair but whatever. I couldn't take watching him debase himself.

- What do y'all think the issue is here?

- How much should I pay a shop to look at it and find out?

- Do I need to replace both front tires if I end up getting a new different brand tire for the front driver? I got the pair 2 or 3 months ago.

Tire Exploded. What Now?

So here is my sad tale, please help...

I live in a place with AWFUL potholes. I'm serious. These roads are worse than Cleveland, fam.

So a few months ago my front driver tire starts to slow leak. I notice that the rim looks bent. Shop confirms. So they sell me a used rim and 2 new tires. The tires are like Cavalry brand? It's an off brand I've never heard of. That was like 2 or 3 months ago.

Last week my husband was driving to work on the highway and the front driver tire explodes. No pothole, no road debris. Just bam. It's got at least 3 very large holes/tears in the side of it. Not the tread.

So I take it back to the shop and they tell me yes there's a warrantee no problem. Then they call later and say that their warehouse has to order that tire because they don't have any in stock and it has to be replaced with same tire. So it will be a day. Fine, no problem.

They call today and tell me that the warehouse guy says he's never seen a tire do that without preexisting sidewall damage, so it's our fault and he won't warrantee it. Shop pays $50 for it and mounts it on my rim. Shop calls me and tells me it's $50.

I don't know anything about tires (or cars at all) but I don't love the idea of having to pay to get another tire that might not be safe. I push back and ask him how would we even damage the front driver sidewall? He says maybe pothole or road debris. Eventually he says he is willing to give it to me for free because it's not worth 50 bucks to take it off my rim and then what's he gonna do with it.

So my options are:

- Take it for free and hope that this experience is just a weird fluke and not likely to happen again.

- Pay $50 for it because of reasons above and I'm not a jerk. It's not the shops fault.

- Sell plasma to get 2 new higher quality tires that we can't really afford because either this brand sucks in general, or maybe it's just not up to the jacked up streets around here.

- Set car on fire and start over.

Habeas Dockets needs someone in Lex

Hello,

I was volunteering with this group for a while but now I think I need to step back. The group is great and the work is necessary, so I would love to find someone to continue the work here in Lex.

They make copies of Habeas Cases at the courthouse and post them so they are available to the lawyers and people involved, and also for historical record.
