When I read the Impale rules from the Keeper's book, the wording led me to believe that you simply add the maximum possible roll value to the normal damage, not including any flat modifiers. I would partly lay the blame for this on the example they provide (second image), which uses a weapon that does not have a flat modifier.

However, the example from the Gaslight book includes the flat modifier in the extra damage, while leaving the rest of the word choices from the explanation the same.

Have I been interpreting it wrong this entire time? The way I coded the weapons for my Avrae sheet to work was based on my earlier assumption, and I should probably change it if that is the case.

My Mutants & Masterminds character, Isana. Mutant, made of a long, string-adjacent substance that can reshape itself; almost a literal mimic. Asocial, loyal, and self-conscious. Negative STR. Likes urban exploration (especially HVAC ducts). Part-time cardigan.

This is one of my oldest character concepts, plus easily the one I've used the most times. Listener is always somewhere on the spectrum of inventor/detective, and most iterations of him don't speak. His design is also admittedly a little generic, so I'm hoping to see how creative people can get with him.

The story behind this character is sorta funny: when I was creating a character for a D&D group, I was typing up my backstory for the DM to review. I tend to pick genders for my characters based on the mood I'm in as I am creating them, and the draft I sent was just using they/them.

DM asked "is this character nonbinary?" And I figured "sure, why not."

Beyond that, I wasn't really even paying attention to it though. Since it was never stated, all the players kinda just ended up guessing at Maril's gender, with results at all ends of the spectrum. Not being bothered to correct them did seems to fit, however; Maril would be more focused on researching ancient curses and trying to keep their dumbass friends alive.

Thus came about my character who simply forgot to have a gender.

Background summary:

With the Zone warping Earth's normal denizens in ways that might've been thought impossible a decade ago, the world has clearly become far more dangerous. It was only natural that some would hope for "heroes" of a sort to rise up and save them. Zee (or whatever their name previously was) could get on board with this idea. When the organization they'd joined decided to throw them off a cliff as a test, they were somewhat less thrilled.

Turns out, Zee really could fly among other things. However, grooming someone for Great Things and then throwing them off a ledge has the potential to disillusion them with your ideology, and Zee would much prefer a world where this doesn't happen to people.

Cheerful, laid-back attitude. Kinda lazy; clever but prefers simple options. Polite but despises dogmatic individuals (for some unknown reason).
