For an eventual pro tablet on Linux, is the better option the base or 320 for the FW 12?

Is the 320 the best one to get or stick to the 302 or whatever the base version name prebuilt is?

Should I just save the $3-400 and get the fingerprint and keyboard backlight later? Or is the 16GB single ram stick good enough on Linux to be like a pro-ish tablet internally / office laptop when wanted? Is getting a mid-tier board beneficial somehow beyond just margin-of-error performance?

Would the fingerprint reader, 16gb RAM stick, and back-lit keyboard upgrade from the base be presumably around the same price? As getting the 320?

Goal: replace already-sold iPad Pro with Linux + stylus. I know its no iPad Pro, but I own it / the data and that matters to me, and framework obviously k ows that people want the better display.

edit: sticking with 320, seems like best bang for Buck. thank you. However if you think different, please share so that the class can learn. For condensing assholes, get blocked I guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

MLX or oQNe models?

There are models like InferencerLabs MLX at q9 with published scoring. There are also models like Vontra oQ8e models, but no scoring. I was hoping someone could shed some light - generaly speaking- on which models are the best models, and how to determine amongst the many differences with real world use. I feel like I have to say this to get some feedback, but I have to work, so I don't always have time available to really get down to an answer that I'm sure someone already has figured out. Not to mention this is just 1 model, not the different sizes and families.

Quanitize from GGUF or must be MLX as source?

Essentially the post title. I want ro quantize the new Qwen27b 3.8 model but its all GGUFs. Is that fine or does it need to be an MLX source?

Is it safe to travel through the US via airports with GOS phone?

Between work and personal reasons, traveling to different cities domestically is required. My partner and I are Hispanic / Spanish American citizens born and raised for context. Does having a GOS phone put my partner and I at risk legitimately or as long as we essentially fall in line routinely at the airport as everyone else all will be fine? Do we really need to buy a couple of phones and just use that whenever we leave the house now?

A required city to visit is Forth Worth, TX within the next 30 or so days. I ask if anyone essentially has been through the airport recently especially since this recent news about GOS and the duress password. I'm also technically curious and savvy but my partner isn't, however does great learning and doing enough of the good habits based on what I recommend I.e. password manager, PWAs when possible, Threema between us, using private space for g services, etc.. Thisseems important to share for some reason.

GOS for data privacy and reducing it's collection for nefarious reasons.

Any mice that is open source friendly with a trackball?

Keychron has one buts it was a Japan exclusive iirc. I'd love to find one that isn't Logitech, and Protoarc seems to only have around the 125hz polling rate for their trackball mice. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Getting more models for 256GB macs

Lots of incredible work at the recent release and hotfixes!

My post is in regards to maximizing model potential with the larger but not largest Mac Studios. I don't think I see oQ2 GLM 5.2 quant which Unsloth showed as promising, or other models that could fit in the 256 ram pool but that I cannot quant myself from the full base model.

Its a lot tk ask for, but hoping we can get more official oQ6/Q8 of the 120b models and above for the 256 machines. I can get some of these models if at all but its from accounts on hugging face with no descriptions and a single model in their accounts instead of more established names, which i think could translate to better QA/quantizing.

Does Zenscreen Duo work with Linux?

Hoping someone can share their experience. I want to use it with an upcoming Framework laptop and I'm hoping it works just fine. There virtually is no research on this monitor and hoping someone can share if both monitors work, work as one, can be oriented, etc.

Will Zencreen Duo work with Linux?

I'm getting a few used locally but hoping it works with Linux. As long as it is reliable that's what matters. There is like no info online anywhere. If anyone has experience, please share

Is there any way to disable or control When text to speech works?

I love the new addition, however TTS cannot be turned off or managed. Am I missing something? How do I change this?
