Bashed headlight assembly and housing: how hard to replace as an amateur?
As you can see, the headlight cover is bashed out and the plastic housing around it has cracks as well, following a collision. I am wondering if i could replace it myself, as I’ve bought a replacement assembly from the exact same model at a junkyard for only 200$CAD (150 USD). Mechanics have been quoting me triple for that part alone, plus like $400 for the labour, so yeah. I know it can be a bit of a pain to replace in terms of removing stuff around the assembly, HOWEVER the advantage for me is that the wheel well and bumper liner underneath, on top of the headlight cover, have already fallen out lol, so everything is already opened up. The hood and bumper are a bit misaligned now, which i guess could either facilitate the task , or alternatively relieve the pressure to make it perfect?
That being said, I’m a total amateur, but I enjoy learning how to do to my own repairs and have a lot of patience and obsessiveness around research on my side lol.
Any advice appreciated!!
