RFID key repair

My RFID key suddenly stoped working, and I had to wait almost an hour for someone to come out, and then I went in.

After opening it, I discovered that the wire was broken (apparently after I dropped the keys).

I removed the excess silicone, tinned the ends using a special flux intended for soldering enameled wires, then measured the coil resistance, got ~160 ohms, meaning there are no more breaks. Lengthened the wire a bit, then carefully soldered it back to the pads.

I checked it and it worked!

Never thought I'd have to repair THIS.

My horror story.

Hi guys. I've been watching chemical YouTube videos and one reminded me of my freshman year in the dorms, when an ampoule with 250 ml of acetyl chloride broke. I opened the locker, and it just rolled out.

It's a good thing my roommates had gone somewhere.

It was a literal gas attack. Within a minute, the room filled with a thick fog made of a mixture of the acetyl chloride itself, acetic acid, and hydrochloric acid. Holding my breath, I wiped up as much of the liquid as possible with a rag and carried it out to the shared balcony in the hallway. Then I threw the window wide open, changed my clothes by feel, and bailed to my friends' place for the whole night because staying in the room was physically impossible. A light rain fell overnight, so everything aired out nicely. Happy ending.

Good thing I had the sense not to drag ampoules of that cursed chromyl chloride into the dorm.

I made this mess to power some lights and fans during blackouts (Yes, I'm from Kyiv, Ukraine) last summer.
