Stopped taking melatonin and my sleep quality got better???
So for the last 1-2 years I’ve been taking melatonin and magnesium before I go to bed. I haven’t been consistently taking melatonin, but I have been taking it 3-5 days a week on average.
At the beginning of the month I ran out of melatonin and keep forgetting to buy more at the grocery store. I’ve noticed that since I stopped taking it, my sleep quality has vastly improved. I wake up with more energy and I stay in REM longer. I track my sleep with my Fitbit and show that this month has been the best month of REM sleep I’ve had in the last year.
I’m still taking magnesium at night. Why do you think this is? The only other variable I’ve changed is that I’m making sure to turn my house down to 63-68 degrees at night. Before I was keeping it at 68-70 but I started turning it down lower in June.
I don’t wanna go back and buy more melatonin if it continues to work for me. Is this just all in my head or is there an explanation to this?
