Also not sure if this is from 1937 or 1973? I think the inside of this chest looks absolutely beautiful but the outside kind of looks hideous with the age and where.
I was told an injection to the trunk could do something but if it's lost 30 to 50% of the canopy it's not very successful. Looking at the leaves compared to our other trees it looks like a lot of the canopy is missing this year. Any advice or is there anything I can do myself. If it's too expensive we will probably just have to put it down but if I could do anything myself to help I would like to try.
Thanks
A man we had cut down a tree that was dying told us this tree was rare in Southern Ohio that certain bugs attack it leading to its demise? I don't remember what type of tree he said it was. That was a few years ago and on the left side where I'm pointing at one of the pics it's pretty much dead and I was thinking of cutting that part off. Just hoping to get this trees ID and some advice on how to keep it around longer. I was about to work on it when I remembered a bird has been hanging around in the middle of its trunk, I'm almost positive she has babies in there and when I was about to start working on the tree she came back with food in her mouth so I decided to move on to other trees on the property
I'm pretty sure it was like this when I pulled it from the engine it was just really dirty and I never noticed it until cleaning.
I know the oil orface ring is one thing I'm told not to forget about, I'm not sure if this is included as one of the assorted rings.
Wanting to make a check list before starting
